I do not recommend coloring your hair with Alyssa Sandoval. Her haircut was fine (thankfully) but the highlights were a traumatic experience for me (in a way I've never experienced before).
I texted her photos of my hair and of the tone of the highlights I wanted to get ahead of the appointment to make sure if she was up for the job. During the appointment I asked her several times what colors she was mixing up to get to the tone I wanted. I knew she was using Redken EQ which is a product I'm familiar with. She would not give me a straight answer. She first lied about the colors not having names. The last time I asked her the same question was right after looking at the results and freezing in disbelief. She then said she doesn't give away her secret formula.
Not only the colors were off and ugly, the highlights were uneven. She charged me extra for the length of my hair but she didn't apply highlights on the length. She simply disproportionally discolored the top of my head near the roots.
When she finished she didn't care to make sure I was satisfied. It was time to pay and go. I couldn't hide how shocked I was with the result before leaving but it didn't make a difference to her. I ended up texting her a couple of hours later as I could not adapt to what she had done. I was feeling like a clown. But she didn't reply me. So the next day I texted her again and I included the salon's number in the msg. Eventually someone from the salon replied me saying Alyssa would get back to me when she knew how to answer.
On the following day (today, 48 hours after the appointment) she finally answered me with a rude text. Here's what Alyssa texted me for msging the salon: "you somehow got Autumn's personal phone number and you text us with threats of bad reviews?! That was disturbing. She's not my boss".
Not only I didn't know they use Autumn's private number as the salon's number, what I actually texted the salon was: "I'm gonna go get an overall toner so I can show up in front of people tonight. I have no idea how long it will take to be contacted back and if she ever will or how this will be fixed. But I'll give a bad review online if I'm simply ignored... sad and deeply bothersome".
I just read the answer the salon gave to a bad review from someone named Karina (similar experience to mine but from 2018) saying the client should have contacted them to give them the chance to fix it. I WAS NEVER OFFERED THE OPTION TO GO BACK TO FIX THE COLOR.
Alyssa also said: "I was baffled by your text because your hair looked great when we were done".
She said my claims were unrealistic: " I answered alllll your questions, even when you wanted me to give you my formula. I explained everything I was doing along the way but it still wasn't good enough".
She also said: "I'm sure you wouldn't appreciate somebody coming to your work place and telling you how to do your job and constantly questioning you".
Yes, I'm challenged at my work place constantly. By supervisors, clients and people I work alongside. That's when you come in with customer service instead of frustration and anger and keep the quality of the service to a high level. Work with people, not against people. Unless someone is disrespecting, mistreating you or taking advantage of you. I was nothing but kind and friendly to her. I was not bossing her around. I was trying to get to the correct hue which is something she needed to decide with me and make sure I was satisfied. Any professional hair stylist would understand that.
I asked her to post photos of my hair online in order to get new clients if she genuinely believes it looks great. But of course she never answered that part.
