Blinds and work are warranted. Awesome! Scheduling for a rep to come out was easy peasy. The rep came out within a few days. Alex was my rep. He was fantastic. He had a great attitude and was engaging. He was a great listener and very knowledgeable about the various types of window treatments for the slider door. By listening to what our desired look, function, and budget; he was able to narrow down options for us in no time. He kept up with me and hubs as we moved from one design option and into a totally different one. He had a look book/ catalog and samples for us to view. We made our decision. Alex informed us the install estimated time which was about 3-4 weeks out and the scheduler will be calling me in the next day or so. We were fine with the timeframe, we were not in a particular hurry. We paid Alex half now with a check. Yup, they only take checks which I did not know. I had to go hunting for the checkbook. A scheduler called me the next day to schedule the install. Chris and Ben were the installers. They came within the 4 hour timeframe given. They were awesome. Friendly, quick, and courteous. The whole install took under 25 minutes including the time they took to explain operating the vertical blinds and cleaning instructions, encourage us to check out the setup by testing it out, and answering any questions. They did not rush us. They worked quick but absolutely not haphazardly. We paid the remaining balance.This time I had the checkbook handy.

Two windows were missed in the quote, despite having discussed those two rooms. We had mentioned that we would provide dimensions once we saw the home again (as we were still in escrow). Steve then reached back out letting us know that he returned to our home and entered without our knowledge or approval. For us, that was confirmation that we would not be moving forward with this company. I cannot say that I would recommend this company due to the lack of respect to our property/ privacy as well as the lack of professionalism.

They went above and beyond for us to make sure they would look great. We have huge arched windows that are wood trimmed out but weren't perfectly even. We needed to mount the shuttles to the front of the wood trim instead of on the inside of the arch which they had never done before. I was nervous and so I could see what it would look like they brought part of Steve's shutters from his own home to hold up so I could see how it would look. We spoke with Athena (who is great & knowledgeable to work with) and she answered so many of our questions & went over lots of options with us. When we visited again with more narrowed ideas, Athena was again very helpful. We easily scheduled a time for her to come to our home for an estimate. The appointment took around an hour. She gave us honest opinions & suggestions to help us make appropriate decisions while being mindful of a budget. She was thoughtful about different factors we wouldn't have thought of on our own. She also offered tips. We were so pleased, we put in our order. Wait time until installation was 6 weeks. We ended up having shutters, roller shades, & sheer shades installed on 11 of our windows. We hit some snaffus that required 2 installation appointments. The first was about 2 hours long & included taking our old blinds away. They also went over how each worked & gave tips. There wasn't too much for us to clean up afterwards. Unfortunately, 2 windows had incorrectly sized shutters made & 1 set of shutters didn't pass the installer's quality test. Installers explained the situation & left temporary paper shades up. It was a bit disappointing. After an additional 4 weeks, we had the second installation that took around 30 minutes. Debated whether we should go back to Home Depot/Lowe's and get our normal inexpensive blinds or go a little fancier. Decided we would get a few quotes for custom window coverings. We weren't sure if we wanted honeycomb shades, shutters, blinds or what. Found a few different companies on Yelp to meet with us and give us their opinions and ideas for what would work best in those areas. Got a few different quotes and also met with Colby at Future View Window Fashions. It was an interesting process to go through his sample books, pick out materials and then hold them up in the windows to see which ones we liked. SO MANY DIFFERENT OPTIONS! At first we thought about getting Alta brand coverings since they were less expensive than Hunter Douglas. But after looking through the sample books, there was a material in the HD book that I really liked. And of course it happened to be one of their fancier lines too. ^_^ Plus we loved the "Top Down Bottom Up" feature where you can pull the shades down from the top for extra sunlight. Fortunately Colby was able to work some numbers and give us a great price that was considerably less than other Hunter Douglas dealers in the area. (We had another company that was close to Colby's price but they happened to be on vacation during that time.) After receiving Colby's quote, we told him we would think about it. He even encouraged us to get other quotes, since he knew his prices were competitive. A few days later, he called us to see if we had any questions. We told him we decided to go for it. He was very happy to get our business and even dropped off a box of temporary shades for our windows, since we had no blinds or anything in our room. We figured the temporary shades would be on our windows for several weeks but surprisingly, our Hunter Douglas Alustra Duette shades arrived in about a week! I think even Colby was surprised they arrived so quick because he initially sent his installer to another customer, thinking our order was theirs! Installer David was great. He knew was he was doing and the installation did not take very long. We use the shades every day and have not had any issues. We like Hunter Douglas' quality and hope they last a long time. They seem to have a good "limited lifetime warranty" (though I'm a little concerned about one of Future View's reviews where the customer isn't getting help for a warranty replacement...hopefully they get that fixed soon). Had some confusion with getting texts that were going to the wrong person and some other minor issues but all in all, a great company to go with if you're looking for Hunter Douglas or Alta window coverings. We received three reasonable bids, but Made in the Shade was our best option after a small negotiation. Chelsea did a fabulous job explaining what was available to us. She listened, had a great sense of humor, and allowed us to ask questions and explore different design options. We even met Brando, the owner, who came out to discuss our order briefly. Then Josh came out to install our 5 new shutters. He was fast, very polite, and did a wonderful job. There are many options for new shutters, and perhaps, once they are installed, who you purchased them from will not ever be noticed. But we all know the problems that can occur with delays, poor installation, and sloppy workmanship. Made in the Shade was incredible, a joy to work with, and very high quality. Install: Our installer Jose was great! Super professional, wore shoe protectors, and was friendly and efficient. He didn't mind my barky dog either. He answered all my questions, used a laser leveler to make sure everything was even, and even gave me advice for future window treatments. He took down the old blinds and patched holes as well. The new blinds fit perfectly and he was a joy to work with. Price: It's expensive, but many potential issues are covered by warranty and the blinds can often be fixed if there's an issue, unlike other brands where you would need to replace the entire blind. Jose gave us adjustment tools and showed me how to use it just in case we needed them, but also said it's unlikely we would need it much. Overall: Highly recommend this company.
