This is the Philly steak sub that was presented to me. The price is $11.99. If you took all the toppings and put them on one side it MIGHT be a decent sub, but still not worth the money. I sent it back and didn't order anything else. No manager came to apologize, remake it, nothing. We also ordered loaded fries and they were pitiful. The only toppings were cheese and a very small amount of bacon. We usually love Apollo's but may not be back. I would be embarrassed to send out a sandwich like that and then not even offer an apology or to remake it. The whole experience rubbed me the wrong way. read more

Thought I would try a local eatery while visiting for the Berea Craft Festival. Big mistake. Ordered a draft IPA. Beer was good - but barely cool. Ordered the meatballs in a sweet sauce for an appetizer. Expected something "unique" as an appetizer. It was just a takeout foil pan with several meatballs and marinara sauce and cheese on top. Taste was ok - but not sure I'd call I an appetizer. (See photo) Ordered the regular crust Mac and Cheese pizza. Not sure what was up with that. The crust was lukewarm. The Mac and cheese was actually cool. And the cheese was really runny. Like they baked the pizza crust, then made Kraft Mac and Cheese in a pan while the crust cooled and poured it onto the crust and baked it a little more to brown the top. Even regular mac and cheese from a box isn't this runny. When it took out a slice, the cheese ran into the space. Expected it to be baked into the pizza. (See photo). Can't recommend based on what I got and the bill was over $30. Service was ok - but can't make up for the food quality. I won't be back. read more

I've been a customer of Apollo Pizza on and off for some time now, but my recent experience was disappointing (a few following this as well). I ordered the Alfredo, cheese sticks, and breadsticks, and none of them met the quality I've come to expect. The Alfredo was way too dry, lacking the creamy, rich sauce that makes the dish enjoyable, also the noodles were burnt, ( I did ask for extra sauce which was not given). It felt like it had been sitting too long or wasn't prepared with enough sauce to begin with. The cheese sticks were also a letdown -- they barely had any cheese in them, making them more like plain dough sticks. To top it off, the breadsticks were dry and missing the buttery topping that usually makes them so flavorful. It's frustrating to see the attention to detail and quality slipping here. I really hope Apollo Pizza can improve and return to the high standards they once upheld. These issues have happened more than once, when called about it they have been extremely nice to fix the issues I experience with my order, but it does get frustrating to have to frequently call to tell them my food is inedible. read more

As I write this, Apollo Pizza, from my research, has not received anything above a 2 star Yelp rating during the entirety of 2025 up until 9/16/25. I have eaten here 2 times, both experiences were during Aug. - Sept. of 2025 and both were similar to others Yelp reviewers giving 1 star to Apollo. the 1st time was awful (ZERO STARS) and left me literally feeling like I had just consumed some aging leftovers from a few days ago. I hoped that the first time was a fluke / human error and, unfortunately, went a 2nd time. The second time, I would rate at barely 2 stars. Additionally, the server brought me a drink at the beginning of my meal but I consistently had to flag down her to ask for refills (instead of them checking / offering them) which tells me that they, most likely, do not train their wait staff. A LOOOONG time ago, Apollo had a bunch of good Yelp reviews so I'm not sure what the deal is in 2025. Maybe there is a new owner or bad management??? I suspect that (from what I experienced) the only way this place stays open is because of the constant yearly influx of potential new customers / students to the local university (that do not know or are to young / inexperienced to realize that this place (at least in 2025) pretty much CONSISTENTLY stinks (but that is just a "hunch" on my part. Obviously, everything in this review is 100% my opinion. read more

Absolutely terrible experience! we got a cheese pizza. There were several slices that didn't even have any cheese and the whole thing was overdone/crusty. overall unappetizing and not something I would eat. I brought it to the server's attention and she said they would remake it for free. Great. I said I would go ahead and pay for extra cheese to be sure. She brought out the ticket and I was charged for BOTH pizzas!!!! I mentioned it to the lady at the register and she said they've never had a customer complain about cheese pizza before. Ok, this was one of my favorite pizza places. I've been to the downtown Richmond and Berea locations recently. The lackluster staff and dirtiness of both locations is disheartening. Disappointed in pizza and especially the service. Took an hour to get our food and it came out cold and they weren't wasn't busy whatsoever. The waitress came to our table 3 times in an hour and half. Once to take our order, bring us the pizza and then to leave a check. Didn't refill our drinks even when asked. She did quite enjoy whatever was on her phone for over 20 min straight. Not sure if this was just a bad night or not but definitely won't be back anytime soon if ever. read more

I have been here a couple of times and have been very impressed. The first time I went, our server was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. I've tried to branch out in the dishes I've ordered and have been happy with most. The beer selection is rotating, but I've been happy with the array of options. One of my favorite things about this menu is the option to do a create your own pizza with up to 10 toppings that is reasonably priced. They have so many great options for toppings that I would like to try, and this affords me that opportunity. Another favorite is their beer cheese. I truly wish they sold this to be able to take home. I got the Bumps and Beer Cheese as an appetizer and fell in love with this cheese. I do think the bread is lacking in some salt, but it is a great vehicle for the beer cheese. I've also tried the Cities of the Plains pizza and enjoyed it quite a bit. I will say it was an odd combination, but when I paired it with the sour cream and the salsa (a favorite too), it was pretty good. My mom had been to the Richmond location previously gotten one of the cheese stick options. She apparently ordered the wrong one the first time (The Garlic Butter Breadsticks) and they were quite bland. But the next time we went, she got the correct ones (Cheesy Garlic Sticks) and they were gone quickly! Seriously, we had to order another because everyone at our table loved them so much. I am so happy they opened this location, especially in an area that is quite lacking in restaurant options. I expect them to do very well and look forward to going there often. read more

Local pizza is the best pizza. I'm so excited that Apollo's is now open! The interior is beautiful, I love the mural against the sleek gray colors. Lots of TV screens but not too overwhelming. It's just really inviting and a place I can see my family coming to often, can't wait until it's warm enough to sit outside! This is definitely the best pizza in Berea. We grabbed a chicken, bacon, and onion 14 inch tonight. It is a thing of beauty. My only regret is not adding mushrooms. Their crust is perfect, there's crispy yet soft bite to it. Wow, so I placed an order of 3 Italian subs, the menu I looked at was old, and the subs are now 9 bucks a piece. I paid for 4 pieces of meat on each sub, 2 small pieces of lettuce, two paper thin tomatoes, NO ITALIAN dressing, and a hell of a lot of bread. Also waited for an hour and a half for the order to be delivered. I called talked to a manager explained why it took so long, she did refund my card, but there is still a couple of questions, where's the meat? Where is the dressing? I have eaten Italian subs since I was a kid eating solid food, I had to move to Berea Kentucky to get served my first Italian sub with no dressing nor no meat. When asked where the dressing was, she replied by saying they don't put dressing on their subs????????WHAT???????? read more

First time customer. Visited because of the good reviews. Placed a pick up order. The first time I called the Richmond store. Instead of providing me with the phone number for the Berea location, she just told me I had the wrong store and hung up....Duh!! I looked up the Berea phone number and placed my order. I ordered a 14 inch Cheeses of the Apocalypse add Pepperoni with a side of the garlic butter. was told the order would be ready in 20 mins. When we entered the restaurant, 2 employees looked me in the face, walked past me and never said hello, welcome or anything. I went to use the restroom and when I came back out another employee walked right past me. When I approached the bar area, I was finally greeted by an employee. Not exactly a welcoming feel. I said I called in my order and gave my name. The rest of the process was smooth. The pizza was hot and full of cheese...almost too much cheese. It was also slightly salty. Okay so first off the poutine. It's not true Quebec poutine, but it's close. They did really well. It made me happy. The pizza offerings were also amazing and tasty. The largest size is also absolute massive, more than enough for a family, if you can all agree on one pizza. The staff are friendly, know the menu and prompt.
