Noelle's Yelp Notebook 2017…read more When my then fiancé now husband purchased our home nearly eight years ago, our realtor had our locks replaced and used Romy's Lock & Key (this is when they still had a brick and mortar shop). I remember going to their shop when it was still open and needing luggage locks and a gate lock for our front gate- customer service was helpful and friendly. They no longer have their brick and mortar shop but help isn't far away- you can call them and they will help you out of any jam :) My neighbor frantically called me today when I was getting a pedicure and asked for help. My neighbor even considered breaking a window or using our ladder to climb into their home. Long story short, the first person I thought to call was Dan from Romy's Lock and Key. Thankfully, he had time and met us at my neighbors home. He unlocked the home and everything was back to normal. He's in the process of getting a new credit card machine so currently he doesn't take debit or credit cards. My neighbor asked if he accepted Paypal and he doesn't. Good thing, I had cash on hand- paid him in cash with 20% tip. Payments currently accepted are cash or check. If you're looking for a salt of the earth trustworthy person who does great locksmith work- ask for Dan and remember to call Romy's Lock and Key! They send out third party locksmiths or something and the pricing they provided when the first guy came was crazy. I got a call from the owner afterwards and he adjusted the pricing to be somewhat more reasonable so I agreed to proceed. Unfortunately the locksmith that had initially come out was at another job so we got something scheduled for the next day. A different locksmith showed up the next day and completed the work. It didn't seem like he knew how smart locks worked. Later that day I tried using the lock and noticed that the lock was not engaging fully. I removed the August smart lock and saw that the pin from the lock was not fully engaging in the August lock. This all worked fine before they changed the cylinder in the lock. I had to keep calling and messaging the owner to finally get the locksmith to come back. He proceeded to tell me that everything worked fine when he left and that it was a smart lock issue. I installed the smart lock a month before this and it worked without any issue. It was a brand new smart lock. I told him what I thought the issue was with the pin not engaging. He took it apart and put it back together then told me I must have done something and I should buy a new smart lock. I asked him to leave and reached out to the owner. The owner took days to finally get back to me and provided no solution except to replace the lock and pay them again to rekey it. Our keys keep getting stuck in the "regular" lock side as well. I would definitely not recommend this company.

Sure enough, as soon as I tried the original key, it worked significantly better than before; a lot of the sticking I assumed was from the lock turned out to be from the poorly cut key. Then I got them to change the locks to my front door. He gave me a couple of options for the type and pricing of locks. When he came, he showed me how the new lock was better than what it was replacing, and that while there were still better locks, they were probably overkill for my needs. He also adjusted a lot of poorly installed hardware that he didn't need to, but he took pride in his work and it showed. Still recommend them to everyone who asks for a suggestion of a locksmith.
