This place is a gem. So good my husband has been coming here for almost 20 years. The outside is of…read morea quaint little cabin in the woods, and the decor inside follows the pattern; the walls, tables and benches are made of logs + plenty animal skins and kitsch parafernalia to match. There's also a fireplace, which I never saw lit but there's hope. The big boy's breakfast is their piece de resistance; *amazing* sausages, and the rest of the trimmings don't disappoint either. I especially love the tinned tomatoes drenched in their sauce, great to mop up with the generous pieces of soft, buttery bread you're given with your meal. Another great plus for me is the milky coffee; basically a glass of hot milk with what I believe it's instant coffee (I might be wrong here) but DON'T knock it till you try it. It's delicious and you'll probably order another. There's also cakes and other stuff, but I haven't yet bothered to try as the full english is so great. All the food is *very* reasonably priced. The main problem (to me, not to the café owners!) is that everyone knows it's good, and the cabin tends to get packed on weekends. It can be disappointing to travel all the way to Abridge to find that all the tables are taken + there's a queue or bikers who got there first waiting for the next 5 ones to vacate. It's not a big place, and during winter it's too cold to sit outside. The tables are packed together and communal, which it's not everyone's cup of tea. But the fact it's packed reinforces how good the grub is. Arrive earlier or later on the day, beat the crowds and give it a go! It's totally worth it.

Based on a Devon/Cornwall tea room and only five weeks old at the time I visited there is an air of tranquility to the place and community...the two owners were happy to chat new faces as well as regulars. There's also a community noticeboard and a selection of handmade crafts which can be purchased as a reasonable price. I had the Team Room Blend, a popular choice it seems as the following two other people also opted for it, as well as a tea cake. The tea arrived in a proper teapot with cup and saucer and was easily enough for three cups. It was also a lovely blend, not too strong but with a distinct edge to it from your regular English Breakfast. The tea cake was a good size and came with butter which had already been warmed (a wonderful small touch) so was easy to spread. All in all very tasty. I have no doubts that if I lived nearby this would be a regular haunt, but as I'm not I bought a gift voucher for a friend who is and hope she enjoys it as much as I did. Will certainly be going back next time I visit.

Wanstead is a picturesque little village and has many good things going for it already, a nice tea room was a great addition. The place isn't big, but the decor is quaint and lovely, and the service is good. The crockery is colorful and nicely mismatched, for the ones who appreciate a little bit of character with their tea. The tea itself... they have a reasonable amount of choice and I went for a raspberry/vanilla infusion; let's say I might stick with the traditional english breakfast next time. I had the teacake, wich was very nice, and if you are willing to take my advice then ask for it to come hot and already buttered to the table; this way the teacake absorbs all the butter and changes texture slightly, which is what you want. Butter on the side just isn't the same. The cake selection also looked great and I'm planning to try a few next. They have a cute little garden at the back, it was a bit too cold to sit outside on that day, but if sunny I'd totally go for that spot. :)

Clientele are your white middle class regulars together with some of the young locals. Most keep themselves to themselves but I've occasionally sparked up a genuinely interesting conversation with an unsuspecting stranger in here! Family and kids-friendly with a little play area to keep the tots occupied. There is a bit of a local rivalry with nearby Moka- my take on it is that Blend is better for the coffee aficionados but Moka wins on ambience and range of eating options. Both are excellent options to while away your weekends in good company!

Wide offer of breakfasts and weekly changing lunches which all sound very tasty. I got a cappuccino (pic) and I find it not bad (I'm Italian so my standards might be little above average), though £ 2.50 is little overpriced in my opinion - whereas it may be cheap for London, I don't feel it's worth all this money, that's the reason why I give 4/5 stars. Will surely be back anyways, atmosphere for working is quite nice despite kids being noisy from time to time
