Derick Dermatology is right off 75 on Gibsonton Drive and is easy to locate and find. It was also…read moreeasy to schedule an appointment online with the time that worked out for me. All great experiences. The place is very aesthetic and just beautiful and clean overall. Staff were very kind and I enjoyed my visit with Jansen and Iggy. They were very helpful and were able to get me the info I needed for some spots on my face. I enjoyed my visit and would return for any future dermatology needs. I can't speak on the insurance portion yet as I haven't received my bill yet but I will update when I do. Great place with great professionals!

The physicians themselves appear capable and have reasonable bedside manner, but their efforts are completely overshadowed by an administrative and billing operation that is dysfunctional, dismissive, and indifferent to patients. Routine matters become unnecessarily complicated, billing lacks clarity, and communication is consistently poor. Nothing is handled efficiently, and accountability is nonexistent. What is most troubling is the complete absence of patient-centered thinking. The experience feels transactional and volume-driven, not medical. Patients are processed, not cared for. Follow-ups fall through, questions go unanswered, and problems linger without resolution. I escalated my concerns to upper management and spoke directly with someone named Carolyn. Rather than concern or ownership, I was met with indifference. There was no attempt to understand the issue, no meaningful response, and no indication that patient experience matters at any level beyond the exam room. This practice gives the impression that it was once a reputable, personalized dermatology office. Today, it operates like franchise dermatology, stripped of accountability and human connection, where systems matter more than patients. If you value transparency, responsiveness, and being treated with basic respect, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Competent doctors are not enough when the surrounding operation is fundamentally broken.

I had a great experience here with PA Daysi Abreu…read more I was skeptical because I've been to dermatologist before good and not my favorite. I really wanted a dermatologist who could somehow to relate to be whether it being darker complexion or the same diagnosis I have. She was very experienced and knowledgable in my skin condition. Daysi was very empathic and ready to remedy the issue and the reason why I had finally came in. I highly recommend her. I am currently cancelling my other appointments at other dermatologist I made as backups. I was a little unhappy with the wait, they tell you get there ten minutes early. I got there ten minutes early probably should've gotten there about twenty minutes early as there were plenty new patients who had to use the electronic new patient form (very much so ipad-like, if not an ipad). I dislike that they operate with a call center. First time I called they told me they didn't take Florida Blue, called again thinking I was going to speak and call another derm location... it was then when I realized it was a call center. The second call, I told them I had Florida Blue and they said they take my insurance they just call it "blue cross, blue shield". Luckily, I accidentally called twice because I would've missed out on a great experience with Daysi. The call center also had all my information wrong, from name to address. The check in process with the link sent the night before is helpful. It reminds you your appointment time and copay. Four stars, instead of five because of small wait time and inconvenient call center experience.

AAD used to be great over time they have converted to a churn provider. Just get people in for the…read moremoney. The patient care is down the drain. I've spent a lot of money on face products (creams and serums) from them that I've used in conjunction with a prescription and it's worked great. Apparently my provider changes and now they won't refill my RX until I'm seen, so I make an appt which is more than a month away. Let me share that the pharmacist requested refill almost a month ago. I've made several calls to the AAD office with no response, meanwhile I've run out and my cystic acne has started to come back. In the matter of a week I've had a breakout of painful, sore swelled red bumps on my face. I cannot even lay on my right side because they hurt. But rather than refill my RX Ulta last me until my appt they flat out refuse. I am not a new patient they have my file, they see me 2x a year. No one reached out to say my Dr was changing and to avoid a gap in treatment plz make an appt. No one responded to pharmacist when they tried to refill, no one reached out to me when the pharmacist tried to refill. No one responded to my 2 calls to the office when I was told a note would be placed on my chart to have it refilled. Now I'm in pain AND I have 2 huge red bumps on my face! Which makeup cannot hide! And they want me to continue to wait 45 days until she can see me. And start my treatment all over again! No thank you! If you don't care about how you're treated by your provider or you don't have any real issues then sure use AAD otherwise keep looking.
