The dock doors were open and everything was GONE. Maybe that's a good thing because I heard from a few other gun shops in the area that IFA does some shady stuff with customer purchases.

Communications were handled via email and everything went as smooth as it could. Bernadette and Jeff are some of the friendliest people that I've met in this community and I will certainly be doing business with them again in the future. One thing to note - some FFL's will start the waiting period at the time of sale as described by the Illinois State Police as it relates to gun sales and transfers. Some FFL's will start the waiting period as soon as you fill out the Form 4473. It's neither here nor there as to who is doing this correctly but at the end of the day, your FFL policies is what you end up following. North American Firearms starts the clock upon filling out the 4473 so just keep this in mind. Best bet is to make the online purchase, head over to fill out the 4473, and by the time your firearm is received by them your background check should be clear and you're good to go.

The class covered the basic parts of the gun, the parts of a round, proper handgun grip, stance, loading a magazine, racking the gun, unloading the magazine, clearing a jam, finger position, the four universal rules while handling a firearm and being in the shooting range, and learning the "compress" position while waiting to shoot. What stood out most to me was how strongly Vivian emphasized safety. She really drilled it into our heads, and I appreciated that so much. Even though there were about 12 people in the class, Vivian made sure to give each of us personal attention. She took the time to help everyone find the correct grip and stance, and she had us practice repeatedly in the classroom so we could enter the range feeling confident. She was very patient, encouraging, and great at correcting mistakes in a positive way. I especially appreciated her help with me personally. I had thumb surgery a year ago and struggled with loading rounds into the magazine, but Vivian was patient and guided me until I was able to do it successfully before we entered the range. I thoroughly enjoyed taking this class with Vivian and loved her approach from beginning to end. I would absolutely recommend this class to anyone looking to build confidence, learn proper handling, and get a strong foundation in firearm safety.
