It's time to provide a more up-to-date and realistic view of APOC Media. My husband and I were starting up a business (Big Law Entertainment) and needed a logo and website created. I reached out to Chris Fant (APOC Media) who quoted an amount of $2,530. I requested that he reduce the cost by about $500 based on our budget, to which he agreed. In an email, he specifically stated that the discount is coming out of the cost of the logo (approx. $400). So the new project quote was $2,035. The project was progressing well. But somewhere along the line, Chris' entire attitude changed with no explanation. I think it was because he regretted giving the discount; but I don't know. He became very difficult to work with, repeatedly refusing to speak with me or my husband via phone - forcing us to only communicate with him via email and text. He would put things in writing, and then deny ever writing them or say that I simply misinterpreted what he wrote. For instance, on March 23, he wrote these words in an email to me: "I can host your site on my server, which will cost $15-$20/mo, depending on the amount of traffic." But when the working relationship became strained, he tried to double my cost stating that my hosting would be $30-$40 per month. How could that be when the site wasn't even launched yet, so there was NO TRAFFIC??? The biggest problem is that we paid Chris over $1,600 and today we don't have the website from him! The relationship became so strained that my husband realized Chris was going to keep giving us problems no matter what we did. We decided that once we paid the final amount, we would end our hosting with him and use GoDaddy. When I told Chris that, he emailed me stating that if we stop hosting with him, we will owe the full amount of the original invoice - the $2,530. He said the only reason he gave the discount was because we agreed to host with him. If you recall, I told you that he clearly stated the discount is coming out of the cost of the logo - thus, NOTHING to do with me agreeing to host with him. Yes, I have this all in emails. So, his plan was to force us into a position of having to pay him the full cost of the website by holding us hostage through hosting. Shady! We felt so frustrated and trapped that we told Chris we will just pay him the original amount of $2,530 by May 13 provided he gives us all of the website files, folders and the database, and then we'll move our website to be hosted elsewhere. The next day, Chris replied stating that he agreed to give us all of that, but not until he received the money first. He also wrote that our site would be hosted on his server until we finished paying. However, about a week before the May 13 deadline, a friend of mine emailed me and said our website wasn't there; just a message that reads the "account is suspended". We were literally about to pay Chris that last $900! So I sent Chris a text to find out what was going on. He wrote back that my project was over as of April 29, 2014 (which is a date he clearly made up because that date is in no document or email anywhere) and since we did not pay the full invoice, our hosting account with him was suspended. What?! He literally just agreed in writing that we could pay in full by May 13! So, you can guess that we did not give him another dime. By shutting our site down, he proved yet again that he does not keep his word. To make matters worse, he then threatened that we had to stop using the logo that he created for us. He further commented that the logo is his creation and we have no right to it, and that if we don't stop using it he will send us a Cease & Desist letter. That logo was posted on all of our social media sites and had been printed on the 2,000 business cards we paid Chris to get printed for us. And if you look at this from another angle, per his invoice, that logo represented $400 of the $1600 we paid him, so we have already paid for that logo 4 times over. We have since hired another graphic/web designer who heard our story and has created a completely different logo and re-created our web site at very reasonable prices. We want our money back from APOC Media. We have reported Christopher Fant/APOC Media to Rip Off Report and to the Better Business Bureau. The BBB contact him on June 26, 2014 but Chris has not yet responded to our claim. We want and deserve our money back. We paid for a logo and a website, yet we have nothing. We also paid for the design and delivery of 2,000 business cards that are now completely useless. I can't even begin to relay the countless number of hours I spent managing this project - time which I could have spent with my family or taking care of other priorities. Something must be done. He has $1,600 of our hard-earned money but we have nothing to show for it. read more
