I was scheduled to check-in for my second sleep study at 8 PM on 8/14, I arrive at 7:45 PM and see…read morethe technician pulling up to the parking lot and enter the building with a backpack. Thinking his shift just started, I decide to give him some time to get settled. I finally ring the doorbell at 7:55 PM, he opens the door and verifies my name. With no greeting what so ever, he points the room where I will be staying and then points to the restroom and tells me to sit-down in a rolling chair filled with what looks to be bread crumbs and lint. In this COVID era, the last thing you want to do is touch anything that looks this dirty and worn out, but any who. This is where it gets good, after he walks away I notice that it feels EXTREMELY HOT in the room, which leads me to look at the thermostat located in the room. No joke, the thermostat read 98 degrees, and they had it set to 70 degrees. I begin sweating automatically and take my surgical mask off and get a very bad scent of what seemed to be urine and that heat just amplified the smell, at this point I knew I was not going to sleep comfortably. After almost 10 minutes of being at the reception area he walks back hands me a clipboard with paperwork to sign and rudely says "Fill this out and like I said have a seat." I had no previous interaction with the technician for him to come off rude. So I ignore the sassy attitude and ask him if it is going to be this hot for long, he shrugs, looks at the thermostat and reminds me its 92 degrees, tells me it would be a while before it cools down. He combatively tells me "I just got here the same time you did, I turned on the A/C and its going to take some time because the 4 PM shift shuts off the A/C when they leave for the day." Question: If you know patients are coming in to stay over night, why shut off the A/C completely in 110 degree August weather? As I wipe off my forehead from the sweat, I tell the tech I will have to reschedule because I cannot breath this hot air and I know I will not be able to fall asleep. At this point he starts offering me a fan, which would be of no use because who would want warm air blowing at them? I mention it was not hot at all during my first sleep study, to which he mentioned that it was a lot cooler a month ago. Cool July in Bakersfield? GTFOH!!! As I leave he stops me and asks me to call Monday morning to tell the staff I left not because he treated me bad, which he did, but because of the warm room. I just walked away, this guy was rude for no reason and didn't seem to care much for his job. I really felt welcomed by other staff on my first visit, bummer. I will be asking to be referred elsewhere because this guy just rubbed me the wrong way.
