This was my third sleep test after being diagnosed with sleep apnea. This was the worst experience…read moreI've had. Do not use this facility. Unlike other facilities, run by competent companies, the Fullerton facility was not conducive to a comfortable sleep test. Furthermore, communication with the tech was initiated by, at his direction, knocking on my headboard rather than through an intercom. But worse than the foregoing, the tech was incompetent and non-responsive to my requests. Specifically, 1) the tech had no control of the room temperature. At 10:00 pm, the room temp was approximately 68 degrees and comfortable. However, the room temperature kept dropping until it was appropriately 60. I told the tech I needed a blanket -- 2 1/2 hours later he provided one. 2) As a 20 year user of a CPAP machine, I know that inclusion of humidity for CPAP is necessary to prevent sinuses from becoming painfully dry. The tech claimed that most people do not use a humidifier -- this is a blatantly untrue. My sinuses became painful, and sleep was extremely difficult. At approximately 5:00 am I pulled off the mask and notified the tech that sleep was no longer possible. 3) The tech spent 30 minutes, beyond normal setup time, trying to find a problem with a sensor wire (his comment and actions indicated he had been working in the wrong sensor). 4) After starting the test I had to notify him that his pressure setting seemed low. He could not have been monitoring my oxygen level -- he set it at a level that was 1/2 of my normal setting, and made no adjustment until I told him he needed to increase pressure. That is the epitome of incompetence. In summary, the facility is not properly equipped, and the tech was incompetent.

I never realized how little the airflow was down my throat while breathing or sleeping and after my first treatment, I noticed the difference. I had my first treatment at 6 pm on a Monday and while it was a little uncomfortable having somebody work in your mouth it is no different than visiting the dentist for your annual cleaning. The treatment itself did not hurt me at all and I was able to have them increase the intensity to the highest level. After the 45-minute treatment I was advised not to drink anything cold or hot and seeing as it was about 6:45 when I was done I had no choice but to go and eat dinner and found out then that I didn't have any discomfort at all. The real game changer was the quality of rest I got the same night I had the treatment, I woke up like I was 20 years old, I had just gotten the best sleep I had gotten in ages and can only attribute this to the treatment, in just 1 treatment I can identify that this will be life-changing for myself and my health. I knew that I had issues with my snoring since my girlfriend is a very light sleeper and I honestly would never even consider getting a C-PAP machine but after hearing about my snoring a handful of times I started looking into what steps I could take to fix the issue and that's when I stumbled upon this treatment. This is a non-invasive laser treatment and may keep me from having to wear an ugly C-PAP mask that surely would keep my girlfriend from being intimate with me. All in all, I'm very pleased and excited about completing my last 3 sessions because I'm 100% sure I will be resting better, I will be energized, and able to take on the world without having to endure the Darth Vader mask that often regular MD's would prescribe for somebody who snores as bad as I do. Thank you, Bruce and Team, I truly appreciate you all!

I've been to physical therapy at a couple different places. When my ortho doctor told me I could…read morechoose, I decided to try St. Jude this time around. It was easy to get appointments for me, for some reason (because my husband tried and he couldn't get decent appointments at all, and he has more availability than me). I met with Susan Mammen on my first visit, for evaluation. She was very friendly and thorough, I really appreciated her time and her care. I only saw her for 2 of my visits, however, which was unfortunate. I also saw Wendy Winters for 2 visits, her hands-on technique was incredible and both times I left there feeling more comfortable than when I walked in. Both Susan and Wendy sent me off with great stretches and instructions. I was happy to see both of these PTs. My last 4 appointments were scheduled with Brittany Pham. She is a very sweet girl and gave me some great exercises to do at home. That being said, she was very talkative and most of the sessions were her talking and using her hands to talk so the therapy pressure was either not there or very light. I felt like I got zero therapy or relief under her visits. At the other physical therapy places I've been to, I get quite a bit of hands-on time and assistance with exercises, typical visits are about an hour. Not at St. Jude, here I was in and out in about 15 minutes. The PTs never left my side, which was nice, but I felt like there could have been so much more done to help me out. I did get a couple of valuable stretches to do, so hopefully my shoulder pain will start getting better on it's own. Nice place and very organized, but I don't feel that I received optimal physical therapy.

Let me first apologize for such a lengthy review but my experience should never, ever have…read morehappened. I have been having colonoscopies/endoscopies in this facility since 2003. Up until this recent one, I never had any negative experience(s). Unfortunately, that all changed on July 23rd. PROBLEM #1 - It was very challenging to reach someone at hospital to ask about financial responsibility. Based on past experiences, patient receives a call the afternoon before the procedure. This allows zero time for the patient to figure this out with insurance. Patient was in final hours of prep for the procedures as well. Only 2 choices: either cancel or get your credit card out. After several phone calls for at least 3 days in a row, the operator admitted the switchboard was brand new and each transfer ended up being disconnected. Finally, on day 3, I found a direct phone number to Admitting. A nurse answered, understood exactly what I needed; apologized for what I went thru and connected me to pre-registration. I was all set after this. PROBLEM #2 Upon arrival, I checked in at the desk and waited to be taken back to the area where you are prepped by the nurse(s). I arrived prior to 8 am and there was only 1 other patient in the waiting room. After noting that 3 employees were having a personal conversation, laughing and talking, finally, around 8:30 am one employee called me over to the admitting desk and asked me to sit so he could register me. I advised that I was pre-registered and he would have known this if he had not left patient waiting for 30 minutes while he and other employees were having a leisurely conversation. Shortly after, I was taken to the back for prep. The nurse did her job well/professional and I was all set. She took my husband's phone number and said they would call him as soon as the procedure was over so he could be with me in post-op. Later, the anesthesiologist came and spoke with me. He was professional and informed me the procedure would start in 20 minutes. A bit late but not a big deal. Finally wheeled into the room where the procedure actually took place. PROBLEM #3 - the procedure was to last until 11 am at the latest but my husband never received a phone call so at 11:15 he started to worry and came straight to post-op. PROBLEM #4 - Post-Op experience was THE WORST! The nurse in charge of my care was, in my opinion, inexperienced or incompetent or just did not care. Lack of listening was a big problem. Upon waking up, I was sobbing and in severe pain. I told the nurse my entire lower back and left side of hip was burning, electrifying and it felt like someone zapped me with a stun gun. I have never experienced this type of pain during any previous procedures at this facility. I knew something was wrong but my husband said the nurses had no idea. My husband arrived and asked the nurse why he wasn't called. No response. I explained about my health crisis in 2019 with MSSA and osteomyelitis and after 7 surgeries, I was left with a lifetime of chronic pain and on narcotics. I was 1.5 hrs past due for my pain meds which were in my chart but the type of pain I was having had to do with the procedure. Nurse advised they were giving me a Tylenol drip. At this point, I lost it and my husband calmly tried to reiterate same details with her and said that Tylenol will do absolutely nothing for pain. Once again, the nurse just kept saying I should calm down and let the Tylenol do its job. Are you kidding me!!!!! My husband calmly stated if you don't call the doctor or give her something more than Tylenol, she is going to be an ER case real soon. By this time, my husband decided to run home and get my pills. Upon his return, he heard the head nurse say, word for word "we need to get this guy out of here and in the front reception area". WHAT IS WRONG WITH TRAINED MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS WHO WILL NOT LISTEN TO THE PATIENT NOR LOOK AT PATIENT'S CHART, NOR CALL THE DOCTOR OVER! And how dare the head nurse make that comment! The patient herself finally demanded they call the doctor over. I know I may be an old lady (I'm only 69) and that is exactly how I was treated at this facility, i.e. like an old lady who didn't know what she was talking about. I may be old but I am not an idiot and the level of pain I was in should not have happened. To this day, UCI has never given me an explanation for such pain. Moral to this story-be careful with whom you get as post-op nurse. Some are good and know what they are doing; others, not so much. As the patient, I truly believe the head nurse and post-op nurse just did not care, because they did not know what to do. They did not look in my chart, they did not call the doctor over, so they gave a patient with lifetime pain a Tylenol drip and expected that to solve the problem. Shame on them and message for UCI, you have my full story in the health survey I completed shortly after the 23rd. I would really like to know what happened and why the lack of care.

Walking in here at 830pm its really dark and creepy looking. There's a set of stairs in front of you going up. And its dark so you dont know where it leads. Glad I didnt have to go up that way. To the left is where you ring the bell to enter the sleep study area. My sleep technician was really nice. There were only 2 patients for the night. She seemed kind of frazzled, but was super nice and explained the whole thing to me. I was in room 2. The room is pretty simple. A full size bed. Too soft for my liking. A flat screen TV on the wall you can watch some TV on. A chair and a night stand as well. It gets pretty cold in there so dress appropriately. The covers they have on the bed are relatively thin. They have you hooked up to all these things on your head and face. As well as legs and on your finger. So its kinda hard to toss and turn in bed. You have to call the technician to get unhooked before going to the restroom at night. They say the wall is thin but I didnt hear my next door neighbor. There's a camera as well as microphone in the room as well to monitor you. There was this really annoying and inconsistent but constant whirring noise. It wasent loud enough to wake you up. But jist annoying enough to keep you from falling asleep. They do provide ear plugs. I should've used it. But it was so annoying and already hard enough to fall asleep. Overall it was a pretty easy process. I slept OK. But your not there to have a good night's sleep. Your there for a sleep study test I guess. It does the job.
