When I first met with David, I felt seen and validated. I trusted the process fully. He asked me not to look up side effects before I committed to the treatment by paying the fee, so that my anxiety would not interfere. This seemed reasonable at the time, and I personally believe that David had good intentions. After I paid, I recall the conversation leaving me with the understanding that there weren't any side effects I needed to be concerned about. I am not saying he was intentionally dishonest, but I wish I had researched them myself. I developed severe side effects, including uncontrollable physical and cognitive anxiety, extreme daytime sleepiness, and altered visual perception. When I told David, he dismissed and invalidated my concerns, insisting that the symptoms had nothing to do with the treatment. When I asked why he had not informed me about possible side effects, he questioned why I hadn't looked up possible side effects myself and implied that it was my responsibility to do so. That response was profoundly unethical. As a mental health provider, it is his responsibility to disclose potential side effects, not the client's responsibility to guess them. Although neurofeedback is often advertised as non-invasive and side-effect-free, research shows that it can cause significant side effects. Neurofeedback changes brain function. Even if no current is being sent into the brain, the algorithm reinforces some brainwave states while discouraging others, which reshapes how the nervous system regulates itself. Side effects can include worsened anxiety, agitation, mood changes, and disrupted sleep because the brain is being trained away from its natural rhythms. This affects the entire body, as brainwave patterns influence the autonomic nervous system, hormones, and sleep cycles. Any provider who claims a treatment can significantly change brain function for the better but refuses to acknowledge that it can also cause harm is not appropriately trained in the science behind psychological treatments. My side effects left me terrified that my brain had been permanently altered, and I was left to face that alone. David refused to answer further questions until I mailed back the equipment, simply because I had expressed that I was upset. I returned it immediately and never intended to withhold it. Over time, I became suicidal due to the severity of the side effects. I want to be clear that I am not saying David caused me to feel suicidal. However, he failed to fulfill his ethical duty of care and did not show empathy or accountability when I was in distress. When I later consulted licensed neurofeedback doctors, they confirmed that I was experiencing acute side effects from the treatment. After three months and intensive mental health care, my symptoms began to fade, and I am doing well now. This was a traumatic experience, not because neurofeedback itself is inherently harmful, but because of the lack of transparency and support I received on top of the strength of the side effects I was experiencing. David may have followed the technical steps correctly, but he failed to inform me of the risks and treated me with deep disrespect once I raised concerns. If you decide to pursue neurofeedback, please research thoroughly and choose a provider who will treat you with respect, transparency, and empathy and who will openly discuss both benefits and risks. read more

This company is a fraud. I signed up for the sleep recovery program a month ago. The first four sessions was $600 and I was told by the owner that if the first two or so didn't work, he'll refund my money. Prior to our first meeting, I talked to my doctor and we realize that there's a possibility that because of my type two diabetes and whatever snacks I'm eating before I go to sleep that that might be affecting my sleep more than anything else, having to get up to use the bathroom at three in the morning could be the issue. The owner of the company did not ask me any questions about my medical history, so when I told him about it in the second session, he got upset with me. This sleep recovery program is not based in any type of science, and it was pretty interesting that the guy will get mad at me after my Doctor, WHO IS A DOCTOR AND BASES HIS FINDINGS ON SCIENCE, told me that it could be something else. This company is a money grab. Playing music on a laptop, with electrodes on your head? No refund was given. I am also a retired firefighter dealing with PTSD and taken advantage of? This is not based in science BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. read more

This is an update to my September 1st review. I finished all treatment weeks ago and have to say, my results have remained stable and fantastic. Everything shared in my original review is still true, albeit I still struggle a little with my eating self-discipline (not Sleep Recovery's fault, mind you ... ) In my experience, there was never any pressure sales. In fact, on the SleepRecoveryUSA.com website, there was an introductory offer of $500 for 4 sessions so if it doesn't work, a person doesn't have to purchase the entire program. I had positive results before session 4, so of course I continued and was so glad I did. :) One negative reviewer questioned "the authenticity of any positive reviews". Sorry, but that's a little insulting to those who took the time to support a business on Yelp. Let's agree to disagree politely, shall we? smh.... Thank you again David and SleepRecoveryUSA.com read more

My husband had been seeing David for sleep issues. I overheard my husband's conversation with David, I inquired regarding my anxiety. We began treatment and I found myself being able to stop negative thought patterns when this same thought used to spiral and ruined my day. It was a subtle change but evident. I have become less reactive and able to stop, be still and think. I recommend the program. read more

Some background going into this, I had a terrible case of insomnia. It started a few years ago, but for a few months in 2022 it got really bad, where I would only be getting 5 hours of sleep per week. I was desperate for help, and was seeking another solution other than Ambien or "don't use your phone, take Melatonin, and just don't worry about it" advice from the internet. I found Sleep Recovery on Yelp and was immediately interested as it was not just another "sleep study" to see if I had sleep apnea. I connected with David and when chatting with him, it was a breath of fresh air to talk with someone who just got it, and had a complete understanding of what I was going through, physically and emotionally. I agreed to do the initial trial session and he sent me the equipment shortly after, keeping me updated on its arrival. Some things to note, you'll be chatting with David directly throughout the process, but he's very responsive and quickly answers any questions you may have. He ships you everything you need, including a laptop, headphones, leads to connect to you head and ears, conductive gel, and a Fitbit to track your sleep. Some other things I would recommend you have on hand is rubbing alcohol to clean off that gel and a comfy place where you can sit undisturbed, like a couch or lounge chair. I made sure to keep the conversation going with David throughout the sessions, sharing my Fitbit data to track my progress and letting him know if I had any rough nights or was feeling anxious. I noticed improvements once the trial period was complete, and decided to continue with David for the remaining sessions. It's definitely a process, and I do suggest you try other things in addition to help you fall asleep, like not forcing yourself to try and sleep too early before you're tired, or not eating too late at night, and getting sunlight and exercise. Once my 15 sessions concluded, my sleep definitely improved. I now get a consistent 6-7 hours every night, with maybe one rough night every other week. It's not 10 hours every night where I can fall asleep at the drop of a dime, but a major improvement over sleeping once a week like I was doing a few weeks ago. If you're struggling with insomnia, I would definitely recommend contacting Sleep Recovery and chatting with David to give it a try. read more

I spent a significant amount of the money for virtually no effect on my sleep in spite of David "guaranteeing" that he could help me. Looking back at this David did use pressure tactics to get me to pay him far in advance so that I would commit to the entire session. Once he got paid I got the impression he did not care much as I kept telling him I was not seeing improvements in my sleep. read more

I had been suffering from severe insomnia for over three years. I tried dozens of remedies, and nothing got the job done, until I found sleeprecoverycenters.com. It really worked, and I've actually come across others that have also had success with neurofeedback therapy, now that I've started spreading the word. I can sleep every night now, seriously. I also feel less anxious during the day, and more inspired and energized. David Mayen guided me through the entire process. I highly recommend this therapy. read more

David and I got along very well. He's super friendly and down to earth, as well as very accommodating to my schedule, which was huge for me. Can't speak more highly enough about him. The sessions we did have helped me in surprising ways. My anxiety has started to slow down, and while my sleep isn't perfect (is anyones sleep actually perfect?) I have started to have dreams again, which he said could happen. Also the sleep I get now seems deeper than before. The sessions with David also exposed a couple outside factors affecting my sleep which can be corrected with some small changes to my lifestyle. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical at first, but looking back I'm happy I went forward with the sessions. I believe this is the type of process that needs repetition and consistency. Once David got me to commit a bit more to keeping a schedule for the sessions is when I noticed the most improvement. Thank you David for being so patient and cool with me!! read more

Sleep Recovery Center kept me breathing through a difficult time. I had had a hard time sleeping well for years. But the last couple months before starting biofeedback with David, even prescription drugs were not helping. Even when I did sleep a few hours during the night, I would get up in the morning feeling exhausted before I even started my day. I was fortunate to have a week off of work and David worked with me to fit in as many sessions as possible. I would say he went above and beyond the norm in helping me return to a reasonable schedule of sleeping well enough to get by during that week. I continued going as often as possible, and within a couple months I was sleeping through the night most of the time. When I did wake up in the middle of the night I could go back to sleep again. It's made a huge difference in my health and well being to feel calm again and not like I was sticking one finger in an outlet all day. I'm certain that Sleep Recovery Center had a large part to do with this. read more

I was having major trouble falling asleep. My brain would just spin and spin as the hours went by. I am not a fan of sleeping pills and was unsure what to do. I tried CBD and that helped for a little bit but then it seemed to stop working. My husband found David and his "magic brain-machine" (as we like to call it) has changed my life. I now fall asleep with no problems at all! If you are suffering from insomnia or high stress, I highly recommend Sleep Recovery Center. Sweet dreams! read more

I was having issues staying & falling asleep. I was taking ambien but wanted to slowly transition out of the use/dependency. Sleep Recovery Centers through its biofeedback therapy improved my ability to sleep. Ive been participating in the Sleep Recovery program with David Mayen since Nov 2014. For the past few years (since I was 49yrs old) I've been experiencing heavily interrupted sleep usually only getting 3 - 5 hrs per night; at least 2 times per week I'd stay awake the entire night! Sleeping pills made me groggy and alcohol made it worse! After 3 sessions with David, I still had interrupted sleep, but i could fall back to sleep after about 10 min of reading. I still woke about 3-5 times per night but I was finally getting some sleep! After 10 sessions I no longer pulled any "all nighters" and now I'm at the end of the treatments and I am able to sleep 8-10 hrs with only mild disturbances of which ill read a few pages on my kindle and be back to sleep. No more sleeping pills for me! My husband thanks u and so do I! Penny, Long Beach, CA read more

Before I had reached out, I was suffering from severe anxiety, depression, and OCD. My sleep was bad as I would usually wake up around 3-4 times a night. I was curious to see what this program was like as I had seen it was given so many good reviews. I had thought that a lot of the reviews were fake and this was just a ploy, but I was so wrong....very wrong. When we first started the sessions, I didn't think it would work. But David insisted and encouraged me to keep at it. Slowly overtime, I started to feel more calm and less anxious. My sleep began to to get better. With the progress we made, I decided to do the full program. I'm happy to say I didn't regret my decision! By the time I had reached the end, I felt so much better and had minimized the awake patterns down to 1-2 times a night. David offered really good advice and suggested that I'd take a sleep study. He was always there to answer any questions and concerns I had. The program is a different approach to the basic ways of fixing sleep like seeing a general practitioner and being prescribed strong amounts of medication. But if you have the time and money, I highly recommend giving it a try! I promise it won't make your symptoms worse. read more

The expert team at Sleep Recovery Centers is unequivocally excellent in their administration of cutting edge health & wellness care. Understanding the technology isn't necessary in order to benefit from the advances. My dad (age 64), my daughter (age 11) and myself (age 36), have all been clients of the bio-feedback system. I have suffered with sleep deprivation for many years and have tried every remedy from medication to meditation. This therapy is truly a miracle and God-send. It has given us relief from the horrible symptoms and side effects of lack of good sleep. My daughter has especially benefitted because her symptoms manifest in the form of ADHD behaviors in the classroom setting. Due to this cutting edge wholistic process, her sleep patterns have greatly improved, which in turn, causes her attention span to increase. Thanks to this system, she has not had to treat her ADHD, anxiety, and insomnia with prescription drugs! read more

I did some research on my sleep issues and after reading some of the online reviews I decided to give David at Sleep Recovery Center a call. He listened to my issues and sent the equipment out right away which was great since I had been dealing with a number of sleepless nights. As a skeptic by nature, I was impressed by David's tenacity and his follow up to be sure I was getting the desired results. After a number of sessions with positive results, he came to the conclusion that I needed to do a sleep study because he felt that I had sleep apnea issues that were preventing me from a full recovery. To my surprise he was right and I'm now grateful for his advice. I've just started with a CPAP machine and am hopefully on the road to success. David still continues to monitor my progress and has given me lots of advice even though I am no longer a patient which shows me that his interest is in patient recovery and not another sale. Thank you David for all your efforts!! read more

This review is so long over due. I highly recommend doing neurofeedback for insomnia with David and Sleep Recovery Centers instead of going on sleep medication. This treatment helped me immensely after a very extreme case of insomnia. I hope that one day doctors will realize how effective neurofeedback is for treating insomnia and will refer people for this treatment instead of prescribing medications that have such serious side effects. Thank you again David for the contribution you are making to help people read more

I'm a few weeks late in writing this review, but I wanted to make sure I did write as this was a very positive experience for me. I was having trouble with quality sleep, pre-menopause symptoms, anxiety and concentrating and focusing at work. When I met Dave and he explained everything to me, I was a bit skeptical because I didn't really understand how it works scientifically. But, he said he could help me. I did 4 sessions and I immediately noticed a change. I felt more alert and noticed I could focus more at work. I decided that the whole process would be worth it. I continued to feel better and better after more and more sessions. I noticed I felt more balanced and not quite as emotional. I felt I could handle disagreements better as well. But, again, I really felt the difference in my focus at work and my ability to concentrate. Where before I felt overwhelmed by the details (and I am in a very detailed business), I started to feel like I could handle it. I have since gone through several difficult situations and although each has been hard, I believe I am more balanced and I am getting through them better than before. And, my anxiety levels are much lower. I see major improvement! I definitely recommend the Sleep Recovery Center. Dave is very knowledgeable and helpful!! read more

I think David is one of the most sincere, caring, and beautiful people I have ever met. I have depression and anxiety, and am really sick of taking medications, that give me even more anxiety when I'm running low on them. He told me he could help me, I have had 2 sessions and all ready notice a ( slight) difference, but I can't wait to see how I feel after more sessions. They are very relaxing, and calming, and David makes you feel so comfortable by explaining the whole procedure. And he trully cares. Thank you David, and thank you Sleep Recovery Centers! read more

My teenaged daughter started having insomnia a year ago. I took her to several doctors who prescribed sleeping meds that didn't help very well and had side effects. I called the Sleep Recovery Centers after my daughter slept only two hours a night for several nights in a row. We spoke with David Mayen and he scheduled her for the next day. After 4-5 treatments, her sleep began to improve. She was sleeping five hours a night and it was a deeper sleep. She finished 15 treatments five days ago and her sleep continues to improve. She is sleeping 6-7 hours a night. When she does wake up at night, she's able to go back to sleep and wake up rested. In three weeks she went from feeling like she had no hope to being happy and looking forward to making accomplishments everyday. We are both so grateful to David and the Sleep Recovery Centers for their life changing work. read more

I have had great success with this procedure. I have suffered from sleep apnia and insomnia for several years now. In the last year, I have been forced to dramatically increase my doseage of prescription sleep medicine with a steady decline in their effectiveness. After a couple of months of therapy through this provider, my quality of sleep has greatly improved all while reducing my medicine doseage. The therapy worked well for me. I couldnt be more pleased! read more

I couldn't tell you how much David save my life I was having anxiety attacks back to back I wasn't sleeping I was so nervous and scared to sleep I seen a psychiatrist doctors I potentially thought I was bipolar. I didn't know what was going on with me and I just couldn't fall asleep. I looked up some things pertaining to sleep. I came across this site and I was desperate I just was like let me give this a shot. When I first did my first session and I was like "not sure if this is going to work " I didn't really think it would have . David explain everything and it was very simple so I did it. After 3 sessions I notice I start falling asleep after 5 sessions I was sleeping 4 hours. Before this I would sleep 4 but wake up maybe 4 times within that 4. So after 5 sessions I was sold, I slept the 4hrs. Without waking up!!! I couldn't believe how painless how blessed and relieve and I thank god for people like him because I honestly thought about suicide my anxiety attacks was that bad, after 20 sessions I sleep sometimes 8-10 hours I HIGHLY recommend this place I'm so serious I finally got back to myself and I never had to take what my psychiatrist recommended which was Xanax or volume David THANKYOU AGAIN ON SAVING ME read more

David is amazing!! My son has suffered severe trauma and was diagnosed with ADD. I never medicated him as I am opposed to that. I met with David and we discussed a treatment plan for him. After only a few sessions I saw a dramatic improvement in my sons behavior and sleep quality. He is much more collected and calm. He sleeps longer and it is a much higher quality of sleep. I was skeptical at first because I had never heard of anything like this, but the proof is in the pudding. Hands down it works, it permanent and it's non invasive. I look forward to completing the rest of my son's sessions! read more

I used to get blue ribbon awards for sleep. That slowly started to change with time and age (40s). Sleep became every more elusive, and it would get later and later in the night (or wee hours of the morning) before it would finally come. By morning, even without an alarm to wake me, I was still exhausted when I did wake. The over the counter sleeping pills stopped working at maximum dose. Prescription sleep meds made things worse. After a 4 day stretch of practically no sleep at all, I was at my wit's end. I can't even explain the state I was in - I wasn't safe to drive, make decisions of any magnitude, anything. I don't know how I was functioning. I would have done anything for sleep. I'm so grateful I found David Mayen and his amazing program. I asked so many questions about the program and how it worked, and David patiently answered all of them. It worked the first night (about 3 in 10 experience this). After some sessions I'd sleep like a baby; with others I'd over think it all and stay up for a while. David would reassure me it was all part of the process and to relax and let the program work it's magic. When I finished the program, my brain retrained, I was able to go to bed at a reasonable hour and wake up rested and refreshed. When a life trauma brought insomnia back, I called David immediately, and took a few more sessions, and I was back on track again. I recommend this program to everyone who has any level of insomnia. It was truly a life saver for me. Trust the process, don't try to figure out how it works, just know you will sleep again! I am proof positive this program does wonders. read more

My wife, Mary, has been experiencing insomnia since we had our baby 5 years ago. But beginning of this year, the situation got even worse when she wasn't able to fall asleep and just stayed awake all night for 3-4 days straight. Her mind wasn't able to shut off. At first, she tried hypnosis but it wasn't working. Then she tried melatonin and it stopped working after the second time. We got lucky and came across the Sleep Recovery Centers on Yelp. David and Melody were so nice and made her feel comfortable with the process. My wife is extremely happy that she's now able to fall asleep naturally. Even though she still wakes up at around 3 or 4am, her sleep quality has improved. The insomnia hasn't gone away completely but she's able to finally get some sleep!! A big thanks to David and Melody for their desire to help others to improve their sleep and their quality of life. read more

I am an auditory person and my reading has never been good. With this program my reading has improved tremendously. After returning from an extended stay overseas, I was not able to get back into a regular sleeping routine, always waking up in the middle of the night no matter what time I went to sleep. Sleeping pills were not any good and so I decided to check out Sleep Recovery Centers. All businesses get at least a few negative reviews so the consistent 5 star reviews led me to have some confidence in this treatment. After 4 sessions, I noticed an improvement of about 30% and now after 6 treatments I feel even more improvement where I am able to sleep through the night no some nights and not feeling as tired during the day. I liked the opportunity of being offered a 4 session trial so I would not have to commit a lot of money up front if the treatments were not effective. Peace of mind, a statement we all seek but attaining it is elusive. Add addiction, almost impossible. A recommendation from a family member resulted in completing a full course of treatments. I gave birth to my son last September and it was the happiest time of my life but as weeks went by I could no longer fall asleep. I knew that sleep deprivation is part of the deal with a baby but this was different. I was UNABLE to fall asleep. I made multiple visits to the ER and also eventually saw a psychiatrist. They prescribed sleeping pills and antidepressants. I tried 5 different sleeping pills and none would do the job! I went 4 days without any sleep and started to have tremors and anxiety attacks. I was ready to give up, I wanted to die! Thankfully, I came across sleep recovery centers in desperate search for a solution to my problem. David has been the greatest! I am now able to sleep with just 1/8 of my sleeping pill which is basically nothing. The rapid drop in hormones after childbirth is what caused my postpartum depression, anxiety and insomnia. I'm very thankful for David and what he does. He's such an amazing being. I was in the darkest place of my life and he helped get me out of that hole. He helped save my life! He helped bring me back for my son, my husband, my mom and my whole family! I'm getting better everyday. Thank you David and god bless you! read more

I am a client at the sleep recovery centers due to severe insomnia. It's been a long year since my problems all began. I wish I found out about David's services sooner, would have saved me so much trouble. My story starts with a perfect storm of stress and night terrors. I never had a movie dream where I spring out of bed, but that all changed last June. Soon after that I began to nap during the day then I couldn't sleep anymore. I went through all the sleeping pills, you name it I tried it. Last thing I ended up on is Seroquel 300 mg. Now down to 100 mg thanks to David and My doctor Igor Hunkoff for working out a solution. After trying all types of things from sleep hygiene, acupuncture, massage, cbt and EFT. This has been the only progress in terms of treating the severity of my sleep problem. The meds that I've taken to aid in my insomnia, (ambien, ativan , amytriptolene , lunesta, belsomra all caused my sleep pattern to go haywire. I lost all ability to sleep without pills. My body became reliant on the meds to knock me out. The sleep that I did get from the meds was at best less the poor. Now I'm a better person significantly compared to before sleep recovery centers. So I'm thankful for David and what he has set up for these issues that are hard to address. Hope this helps someone. read more

My son and I met with David after many failed attempts with western medicine/prescription drugs to help him regain a "normal" sleep pattern duration and quality of sleep. David was extremely engaged in our discussion and was confident he could help. We were initially skeptics as we had tried nearly everything however after speaking with David we decided to try his process. My son was very discouraged and had resolved to live a life of sleep issues/lack of sleep. David came to our home to administer the biofeedback therapy which made it very easy and comfortable for my son. After the 2nd meeting with David, my son acknowledged a "difference". He was able to fall asleep and wake rested which both had been a struggle for years. After finishing the entire program, I can attest to the fact that my sons sleep issues have been significantly reduced. He can now fall asleep and wake rested. The process may seem unconventional however it was effective. We are forever grateful to David. read more

David has been amazing since the first phone call I had with him. He goes into great detail about the sessions and how it all works. He is very patient, flexible and accommodating which is huge in helping people like me who are sick and sleep deprived! The first couple of weeks and sessions I immediately noticed small changes. Although my sleep hadn't fully improved yet I noticed when I did sleep I was getting better quality of sleep and my energy levels during the day were more stable. Now at the half way mark I am starting to see the major changes I struggled with muscle spams that kept me up, anxiety around sleep and bedtime, taking me hours 5-6 nights a week to fall asleep and very interrupted sleep. Waking up feeling worse than before I went to bed the night before Now for 2 weeks straight, I fall asleep most nights immediately or within 30 minutes max, I have cut my sleep medication in half and the quality of sleep is so much better! I actually reach REM and have dreams!!! My energy levels have improved by 30% or more and are so stable. I am confident that these improvements will keep getting better over the next few weeks. I struggled with sleep for 5 years and tried everything out there and nothing worked, this is the only thing that has helped me. My only regret is not starting sooner! read more

Now I sleep most nights without waking up. I sleep anywhere between 7-10 hours a night. I also started having dreams again! This entire experience has been amazing and I've told everyone I know about this nuero feedback therapy and how well it's worked for me. I used drugs and alcohol to help with my overactive brain and insomnia for so many years that I became reliant on them. After getting sober, the over activity, insomnia and anxiety came flooding back. Lack of sleep was making my life miserable. I was lucky enough to hear about this treatment and decided anything was better than not sleeping! I was blown away by the progress I saw in such a short amount of sessions. You listen to some relaxing music and you can even be on your phone if you'd like. I not only sleep longer ( 7 hours where before I was maybe getting 4) but I sleep harder. I go into more REM cycles and therefor don't get up as often in the middle of the night or feel as tired the next morning. Like I mentioned before I tell everyone about how cool this treatment is and how totally worth it it is. David is extremely kind and easy to talk to. He makes these sessions super laid back and easy to sit through. He knows what he's doing and genuinely wants to help you sleep better because he understands the struggle of not sleeping. Totally worth it 100%. read more
