So let me start off by saying I initially was looking for an appointment at the Riverside location…read more I live in the IE. After my initial phone call to the Riverside, and then days later sending an email to them, I received a call from Terry at the Irvine location. Terry immediately addressed my concerns I put in the email. He also alerted me that I was misinformed my the Riverside location, about not being able to self-refer when I have PPO insurance. My husband was/is going through a medical emergency and I was attempting to establish care and an appointment for him to get checked out. If it was not for Terry being thorough/detailed, proactively securing my husband's medical records by me answering a couple of questions, overall kind, attentive, and we would not have gotten in to see a doctor until the following week. We were booked next day, with Terry's help. As a result, I opted to make the drive from the IE to Irvine, instead of the Riverside location the very next day. Good medical practices are very hard to find these days. Terry actions demonstrated compassion and understanding of my concerns of not having my husband wait any longer for an examination. Thank you Terry! Additionally, our appointment was for 12pm. The doctor was prompt and thorough as well. The receptionist that check us in was also prompt, thorough, she showed concern when it appeared that my husband's oxygen was a tad bit low. Said for him to relax, lay back in the recliner and she would get the doctor in right away. I sincerely appreciate the team here. I'm glad Terry called. Thanks you to everyone we encountered last week.

My pulmonologist, a superb doctor and diagnostician, retired after many successful years in private…read morepractice. As a result, I sought out a new pulmonologist, and initially decided to see Dr. George Shahinian in Aliso Viejo. Dr. Shahinian, at first glance, seemed to be a personable, capable doctor with a moderate-sized practice. Yet, I discovered that he was actually socially awkward, impatient, and prone to misread significant patient symptoms, leading to an appalling misdiagnosis. When recounting important background information on a new patient, such as me, he discounted what he was told and made a dismissive sarcastic remark. In a vital follow-up appointment, after contracting a virus and being terribly sick for eight days, he walked into the room and proceeded to shake my hand. I gave him an elbow bump and said, "I don't want you to contract what I have." I was coughing non-stop at night and hardly slept for over a week. He prescribed an antibiotic that I had never taken and then opened the door to exit. I was shocked that he hadn't listened to my lungs; after all, he was a pulmonologist. I called him on that and he walked back and in a perfunctory manner listened and said I was clear and okay. I asked him,"Why weren't you going to check me?" He replied, "I didn't think you wanted me to touch you." I reiterated, "I didn't want to make you ill, but I did want a check up. That's why I'm here!" The antibiotic made me profoundly sick on the second day. So much so, I had to throw all the pills out. I called his office and told them I cannot sleep at night and needed a cough expectorant with codeine in order to get some rest. He never provided that which was was my primary need when I saw him. He refused to prescribe a cough expectorant with codeine; instead he prescribed a capsule medication that would desensitize my throat and bronchial tubes to lessen the cough response. I read the side effects, which included "choking," and decided I didn't want to risk it. No help here! Two days later, my wife and I went to Hoag Urgent Care in Aliso Viejo and were seen by a wonderful, caring, and highly competent doctor who quickly diagnosed me with bronchitis, prescribed antibiotics I had taken before (with no adverse affects), and also prescribed a cough expectorant with codeine. Last night, I had my first night of restful, healing sleep in 11 days. Bottom line: Dr. George Shahinian is simply not a good choice for your doctor. He offered no help and, in fact, made me worse with his selection of antibiotics--which I later learned many people cannot tolerate. Moreover, he refused to provide the medication I knew would be helpful. And when he noted my lungs were clear, he seemed to assume I was good to go; when in reality, I had contracted a virus which morphed into bronchitis and was not well at all.

When filling out the paperwork I was asked to sign a full on Arbitration agreement which gives away a lot of basic legal rights that could be applied to him and pretty much him and everyone he is connected with in any disagreement. The front desk assistant refused service when I told her I wasn't signing the rather lengthy arbitration agreement. I asked to speak to the Dr. to see if he would agree to see me without the arbitration agreement and they refused to let me talk with him and instead just turned me away. Fair enough. Beware of what you are signing when you go see this guy. If you are comfortable waiving any legal rights go for it. This is not for me. Makes me wonder about the CYA factor they have in place. It doesn't give a good feel for confidence. I'm very disappointed they tried to slip this paperwork in the big stack of stuff to sign.

Oddly enough, he asked him, on the rare occasion my dad was alone, and "alert" -- my dad was sedated most of the time and being in the ICU, it made him somewhat delirious. To question him about the next steps, when he clearly wasn't thinking straight, without any other family member there was infuriating. My dad took a turn for the worse because of this doctor. He is callous, cold, and he does not care about his patients. Had I taken him to a different hospital, and different doctor, I am positive he would not have died the way he did. Awful place.

Dr Goldberg had my husband on four different inhalers and now my husband is on only one inhalers. I kept telling the doctor and his assistant (who NEVER gets back to you for refill or anything else) that he was overlapping the inhalers he prescribed but he wouldn't listen to me. When I told him his assistant doesn't get back to me, he doesn't believe me!! The deciding factor was my husband was experiencing more shortness of breath in January of 2021 when COVID was still very rampant and I called to get my husband in for an appointment in ASAP. The young receptionist told me APRIL!!! I said my husband is experiencing shortness of breath, can't the doctor see him sooner? NO...APRIL!! She told us to go to the ER where COVID is everywhere!! We immediately changed doctors and our new doctor made the time for us immediately through a ZOOM meeting and spent an hour with us. Dr Goldberg NEVER spent that amount of time or was that thorough. If you want to breathe, I do not recommend Dr Goldberg or his incompetent office.
