    Broccoli Rabe

Apizza! In New Paltz is a coal fire brick oven pizza restaurant serving impressive pizzas and other homestyle Italian dishes. We ordered the meatballs with ricotta, chopped salad, and broccoli rabe. For our pizza we went with the red sauce pie topped with soppressata, green peppers and hot honey. They make some damn good pizza dough here. It was the perfect balance of slightly chewy but crispy crust. We will be getting married not too far from Apizza and will be making a pit stop here at some point our wedding weekend

We finally made it back on Saturday. We got there around 5:30pm, and it was still pretty empty. Ordered clams, but were told they didn't have any. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms instead. They brought out two nice hunks of coal oven warmed bread, along with a small dish of olive oil, seasoned, with a few green olives added. That bread is incredible. The mushrooms were delish! We've had them before, and they were just as good as we remembered. Pizza was a large regular pie with mushrooms. It was really good, but a little different than previous times. Crust was amazing, but the pizza was a touch thicker, and sauce was lacking, but there were dollops of almost a salsa-like mixture on the pie. It tasted a bit off, and had me a little disappointed. Not sure why it changed. Still good, but not in a hurry to return.

I first heard about Apizza! (pronounced ah-beetz) about six months ago from a Yelp friend. She raved that their pizza rivaled the best places in New Haven CT. High praise, indeed. So I put them on my food bucket list. When they recently expanded their opening hours from 3 PM to 11 AM, it was time. Stopped in today with best friend, Pots & Pans (AKA "He who eats pizza w a knife and fork."). Very cozy, comfortable, warm setting, only rivaled by the warmth of the owners, Adam (the pie guy) and Lauren (wife and does pretty much everything). We ordered one large w sausage and mushrooms, and got ringside seats of Adam in action. A magician with dough. He uses a coal-fired oven, so he must be on top of his game. Both P & P and I agreed it was right up there w the best pizza we ever inhaled, and I've inhaled several tons. The crust was on the thin side, with just the right amount of char. It practically melted in my mouth. Sausage was excellent (Adam gets it from a butcher in town), as was the sauce. Lauren was great. Attentive, easily handling the lunch crowd. Almost every customer made it a point to comment how delicious the pies were on their way out. Also, Adam makes his own bread in the coal-fired oven. About the best I've ever had. Again, practically melts in your mouth. ONLY 2 DRAWBACKS - having to eat pizza w a grown, mature (debatable) Italian man from Astoria who insists on eating pizza w utensils. And I wish Apizza! was closer than 140 miles away. I would be a regular. 5 incredible stars!!!!!

We live in Manhattan and got married in Italy - we love pizza a little too much and this place doesn't disappoint! Bit of a wait on a busy Thursday night so just be prepared to wait but it usually means a place is good! Had Cesar salad, a half sausage / pepperoni and eggplant, mushroom, artichoke heart and broccoli pizza w meatballs for the little one. Also came w bread. Yum!

I was up for a very sad and tragic death in the family; I was hungry as I couldn't eat all day and was headed back to the city but needed something quick- This wasn't quick, this wasn't cheap, but it was pretty decent (toppings lacking) They'd get a 4th star if they stopped ripping people off. $34 is more than I'd pay home in midtown. Once Williamsburg caught wind of NewPaltz everything got ... better (and worse) depending how you view it I guess. I grew up coming to family in NewPaltz and something is definitely better nowadays, with the shopping and life that never seemed to exist before, but that's said with a bit of angst to the fact that everything is a little out of hand and starkly contrasted... financially. I digress. There was some confusion if we paid for the pie while we were in as we stepped out to talk and make sure the car was good since I'd already gotten a ticket in the morning, but I digress.. again.. while she thinks she paid for it, they thought we didn't, so I put it on my card... so we just may have spent $64 on a pizza - benefit of the doubt Should sat at the lemon squeeze!

Big portions with vegan options! I ordered a small pizza and I was expecting a small personal pizza when out comes an actual behemoth of a personal pizza. They had vegan cheese available at no up charge which was very inclusive. It definitely has a bit greasy but I love that so it worked out for me.

This is a great addition to the New Paltz restaurant scene. I know, I know, there are so many pizza places, but this restaurant is different than the others! After my time in New Haven, I became acquainted with apizza, which is in my opinion the best kind of pizza. I am so happy to see this style brought to New Paltz. Was also glad that they offer Peroni, which is the perfect alcoholic pairing to a New Haven style pizza. You'll be in for a treat if you order the clams. Also, don't sleep on the fresh bread! My family tells me they sometimes like to take some to-go.

Apizza! is a coal-fired pizzeria that opened in New Paltz, New York in June 2021. It was founded by chef Adam Monteverde. A native of Woodstock, Monteverde graduated from the Culinary Institute of America. He went on to work in a number of high-end kitchens across the country, including a Michelin-starred restaurant in San Francisco and the Bellagio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. By 2010, he found himself working at a Grimaldi's Pizzeria location in New Paltz. Unfortunately, the pizzeria closed down just a few years later. In 2015, he opened Mexican Kitchen in New Paltz (inspired by the Mexican restaurants he visited while living in Los Angeles). Although successful, Monteverde decided to sell his Mexican eatery a few years later and focus on his passion: pizza! When he heard that the building which once housed the New Paltz Grimaldi's was for sale, he decided to buy it and make it his own pizzeria. Monteverde's great-grandparents were Italian immigrants who owned their own coal-oven pizzeria. Like many immigrants from Naples at the time, they referred to pizza as "apizza" (pronounced ah-BEETZ). As a tribute to his great-grandparents as well as the historic coal-fired pizzerias of New York City and New Haven, Monteverde named his pizzeria "Apizza!" He runs it alongside his girlfriend Lauren Mias. My family and I recently had lunch at Apizza! while we were traveling though the Hudson River Valley. We knew we had to stop as soon as we saw the name. Coming from New Haven, it's rare that we see pizza outside of our area referred to as "apizza". Monteverde and Mias were both busy in the kitchen when we walked in. We introduced ourselves as New Haven natives and asked if they pronounced it "ah-BEETZ" just like us. Monteverde smiled and confirmed that they did. We were in the mood for some cocktails, so my wife and I ordered the "Sparkling Limoncello" (limoncello, prosecco, lemon soda) and the "Italian Margarita" (silver tequila, limoncello, lemon, lime). Both were very refreshing! For food, we ordered a Red Pie with Soppressata and Mike's Hot Honey as well as a White Pie with Fresh Tomato and Basil. My son and I enjoyed watching Monteverde and Mias craft the pizzas right before our eyes. Both pies were excellent! The crust was crispy and the toppings tasted so fresh; definitely closer to New York-style as opposed to New Haven-style. We wanted to have some Housemade Limoncello Pie for dessert, but our server sadly informed us that they were out. Instead she brought us a complimentary plate of delicious Italian Lemon Cookies. We had a fantastic experience at Apizza! and couldn't thank Monteverde enough. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in the area!

We received water. 15 minutes went by: we saw the waitress scrambling to bring out drinks, bread and food for tables while the waiter was also bartending inside and outside. They must be understaffed because these two employees were doing absolutely everything they could to keep this place afloat, I felt bad for them. So did other guests because one woman (in frustration of not getting her check) began to help bus and clean tables. We asked both waiters for bread. 15 minutes later, another waitress arrives at the restaurant to help, we ask her for bread. We waited around 30 minutes just for bread. Our appetizer (each got lobster bisque) was delicious. Other parties were so annoyed at the service, one table send someone to go over to Water Street and brought back hot dogs!!! Multiple new customers arrived, saw the poor service and left. Our entrees were great! We agreed that the chef was awesome, but no one wants to spend 3 hours of their afternoon at a restaurant!

We ducked into here at the start of a huge storm after throwing one back at the Parish across the street. What a lovely respite! It was a quiet night and we sat at the bar. There was a good selection of wines by the glass and trust me, I indulged enthusiastically. We had good conversation with the lovely bartender, the owner and one of the waiters. Everyone was so nice, gave us a lot of insight to the area as well, cuz we're not from 'round these parts (but will be moving not so far away in the near future). There is a covered patio area lit with fairy lights and tiki torches that positively beckoned to us, but that damn weather... that said we found inside, back by the bar is equally inviting. It also bears mentioning that New Paltz (understandably) has an array of college student-oriented establishments and The Station definitely appeals to an older demographic (read: parents of college students, professors, travelers) which is a plus for anyone also looking for a great date night spot.
