Though we were just browsing, we felt welcomed. As we browsed, we realized that the shop was packed with merchandise, which was exciting to see since it play 40k and they had a lot of it available. Based on all the mailings I get from Boy's Town with full size calendars, pocket calendars,…read moregloves, socks, Christmas cards, etc I have never been moved to donate to them. All that "wasted postage and advertising" made me think the overhead for the charity had to be too much. I would rather donate to a charity that the majority of the donation goes to the actual cause. Prior to my review I would have given them a one or two star rating. I changed my mind somewhat after reading reviews for people that have visited Boy's Town. I learned that the organization has grown to include girls so the name Boy's Town is a little inaccurate. People that have visited first hand are quite impressed and usually give it a five star rating. I'm relieved that the organization serves a population that needs its care. I have adjusted my initial review with an additional star because the charity is obviously good. I still have to deduct two stars because the fund raising campaign goes overboard with mailing trinkets in hope of a donation. I'd rather they save their money and just tell the story of the history of Boy's Town. I actually made a donation not prior to Christmas because of the junk I received but instead I was inspired by Googling Boy's Town and learning from people that had visited there.

Ours was a wedding event and we did not realize how much work we were asking of him until the actually wedding when we saw all the things he had to do. There was the ceremony at one end of the Durham Museum that required mic's and speakers, there was dinner served in the middle of the museum floor the required background music, and then there was dancing at the other end of the museum. He handled all that masterfully, and he was a great DJ for the dancing part. It was an older crowd so we didn't want anything too glitzy and he handled that perfectly. There is a reason EVERY review is giving him 5 stars. Is that a first for Yelp? I don't know but he certainly deserves it.
