Valvoline Instant Oil Change - Wire connection broken during routine oil change when they checked the air filter

Valvoline Instant Oil Change

I have used this Valvoline location routinely since moving to Alpharetta, but after this experience…read moreI won't be returning. During my recent oil change, the air-filter area was opened and inspected while I remained in the vehicle. When I started the car at the end of the service, while I was still in the bay, the check-engine light immediately came on. The light had not been on before the service. When the light remained on, we scanned the vehicle. It showed code P0113 for the intake-air-temperature sensor circuit. The diagnostic freeze-frame recorded the fault with the vehicle at 0 mph and only four seconds of engine run time. When we inspected the engine compartment, we found a broken electrical wire at the intake sensor connector adjacent to the air-filter area. I contacted the store, Customer Care and management and provided the information. Rather than taking responsibility or even offering a reasonable path toward resolving what is a relatively inexpensive wiring repair, the response has essentially been that it isn't their fault. I understand that businesses sometimes make mistakes. What is disappointing is how this was handled after the problem was reported. A long-term customer shouldn't have to fight this hard over damage discovered immediately after a service. I'm posting the photos and diagnostic information so other customers can make their own decision.
