It's been awhile since I went to the Broadway Market and it's a fun treat to find Apa's Kitchen sitting in the middle of the market. The sweetest lady was working the counter of Apa's when I stopped in today. I wanted to try a few of the items on the menu and they had some samosas in the case already to eat as well as some fried battered veggie patties. I also saw a sign with a special on the counter that included two pieces of bread, an egg and veggie fried omelet and seasoned veggies. So I ordered that and the lovely lady asked if it would be ok that I wait a little while since she had to cook it. Of course it was perfectly fine so she went to cook my lunch while I wandered around a bit to see what was old and what was new. My lunch came out piping hot and ready in about ten minutes and she wrapped everything up very cheerfully for me to go. Very excited to try everything when I got home, I opened it all ready to take a bite out of everything! The veggie egg omelette was delicious, light and fluffy , not many veggies more eggs. The veggies were actually pretty spicy which was a bit of a surprise. Not unbearable or anything, just unexpected. But tasty and nicely seasoned. The bread was a dense darker texture and definitely sticks to your ribs. It was actually perfect for scooping some of the vegetables and cutting the heat of the spices. I really liked their samosas. They were made with a large piece of dough and stuffed with a similar mix of vegetables. The fried patties were very tasty. A few vegetables mixed into batter and deep fried equals yummy. The samosas and veggie patties were a bit oily but still very tasty. The omelette and seasoned vegetables were buttery as opposed to a dry as was the bread. So here's my suggestion, it's definitely worth stopping in and trying this entrepreneurs business! It's always fun to try something new and if it's yummy, it's a win win !! read more

I haven't been to the Broadway market in over 15 years so I was excited to stop by and see how its changed. It was quite different and there weren't many placed open on a Friday. Apa's is in the middle of the place and easy to find. Like many others, we struggled to place our order due to a language barrier. We ended up purchasing a meat puff pastry, samosa and pakora. We also ordered Tawas Roti with chicken curry and Mughlai Paratha. Our total was $20. All items that were not deep fried were freshly made and took about 10 minutes. The fried appetizers were pretty good but a little oily and there were no chutneys or dipping sauces offered. The chicken curry was tasty with the roti bread but it was quite oily. I did enjoy the roti because it had a nice, charred flavor. The Paratha was filled with egg and had a nice crunch and chewy texture. I probably wouldn't go back but the food was decent. read more

Stopped in today for the Yelp Taste the World event. I did have to wait for a while for the owner (I'm assuming here) to come inside because the other woman working wasn't aware of the event. However, both ladies were so nice and friendly. The prices here I thought were very reasonable. I've never had Bangladeshi food before so this was a first for me but I love trying new things so I was up for anything. Im not even sure what I got but it was delicious, whatever it was! The mango dessert especially was a highlight. I also ordered a samosa (another first) and it was a delish! I would definitely come back specifically for that mango dessert. Yum! read more

Went for a Yelp event and ordered some additional items on top of the biryani that came with the event. I had chicken samosas ($2 each) and they were flavorful and filling. The person working had a bit of difficulty understanding me, but I relied on the trusty point at something method to get what I needed, haha. I'd go back and try more food in the future. read more

My review is for Apa's Kitchen vegetable pakora, purchased yesterday at the downtown Buffalo farmers market. For $4, I received a generous dish of two vegetable pakora with an amazing (!!!) mint dipping sauce. Oh, that sauce. The pakora traveled well and weren't greasy. I'm looking forward to visiting the restaurant and will definitely buy more food from the lovely and gracious Apa's Kitchen women at the farmers market next Thursday. read more

While walking through Broadway Market, we decided to try this newly established Bangladeshi restaurant. Bangladeshi food is very similar to that of Indian and Pakistani food. Apa's kitchen has a wide array of dishes, out of which we decided to order the goat biryani, the nihari, and puris. While we were waiting for our food, we decided to get an order of pakoras as an appetizer. The pakoras were tasty, flavorful, and nor oily. The goat biryani had a good aroma, was not dry, very flavorful, spicy enough but not too spicy, hence making it inviting to all including those not too acquainted to spicy food. We also ordered an order of nihari, which is a delicious goat stew, along with puris. Let me start of my stating that "Naan" in unknown to 95% of Indians, and is more popular in the US and Europe than in Indian. Instead, Roti/Chapati, Puri, and Paratha are more common in India. Making a puri is a skill, as it needs to be crispy and fluffy prior to taking it off the pan and serving it to the customer. As a South Asian, I can say that we tend to get very judgy about the quality of a puri. This puri was puffed, fluffy and crispy, just as it should be. The puri and the nihari went well together. We ended the meal with masala chai, which was very well done. They are fairly new, but their cooks know what they are doing. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the prices are decent. The Chicken biryani is $10, the Goat biryani is $15(totally worth it), the pakoras are $1 for 2, the puris are $2 each (totally worth it), and the masala chai is $3. One thing to note is that this is a cash only establishment.I would highly encourage visiting this restaurant. You wont regret it if you are looking for delicious South Asian food at a reasonable price! read more

Went here for the Yelp passport and wasn't disappointed. Had been thinking about trying Apa's for awhile and this gave me the excuse to stop by! I bought one of the Pakora as well and it was unique and really good. The space gives some life to the Broadway Marker and the options are vegetarian friendly as well. The woman behind the counter was very sweet and I know I'll be back to try more of their dishes. The sample I had was really good! Very Bad. we ordered 3 Bubble teas, 1 chocolate and 2 strawberry. and what we got was basically flavored milk... it was not tea. And the boba was totally inedible. they where also using a child to serve, and the straws were already unwrapped, which was very unsanitary and they put the unwrapped straws on the table. My mother has diabetes so we asked for them to put a Splenda in one of the drinks instead of sugar. when the child served it, we didn't know which one had sugar, so we asked, the lady didn't even know which one she put suger in. all in all, it was a waste of 17 dollars ( My father gave a $2 tip before we tried it) if we wanted flavored milk, we would have just bought nesquik powder and made it ourselves... i would give 0 star. read more

If I could start another alias named Yelp account just to rate this place 5 starts, twice, I would. The owner Saida (which I may have spelled incorrectly) has this this incredible huge personality matched only with a gift for hospitality. Such a huge heart and her food did not disappoint. This was one of my very first times having authentic middle eastern foods. I am ashamed that I cannot recall all of the names but myself and my two companions went "family style" and passed around various chicken, rice, mustard stem, eggplant and goat dishes. The food captured one of the widest arrays of favor I have ever had in a single sit down meal. I was so insanely impressed with party that was occurring in my mouth, I have not stopped talking about this place for 3 days. The location is inside the Broadway Market so a part of me wants to keep it a secret. But, my job as a Yelper is to lead you to places that maybe you would not typically go to unless you had some idea of how the experience and food is.
