Delicious little spot in. Roadway market. Tried their samosas and pakora and loved them both! Great mix of spices in each - left us wondering what they were so we could try to capture the flavors at home Friendly service, English was a bit limited but the smiles were big!

I haven't been to the Broadway market in over 15 years so I was excited to stop by and see how its changed. It was quite different and there weren't many placed open on a Friday. Apa's is in the middle of the place and easy to find. Like many others, we struggled to place our order due to a language barrier. We ended up purchasing a meat puff pastry, samosa and pakora. We also ordered Tawas Roti with chicken curry and Mughlai Paratha. Our total was $20. All items that were not deep fried were freshly made and took about 10 minutes. The fried appetizers were pretty good but a little oily and there were no chutneys or dipping sauces offered. The chicken curry was tasty with the roti bread but it was quite oily. I did enjoy the roti because it had a nice, charred flavor. The Paratha was filled with egg and had a nice crunch and chewy texture. I probably wouldn't go back but the food was decent.

Stopped in today for the Yelp Taste the World event. I did have to wait for a while for the owner (I'm assuming here) to come inside because the other woman working wasn't aware of the event. However, both ladies were so nice and friendly. The prices here I thought were very reasonable. I've never had Bangladeshi food before so this was a first for me but I love trying new things so I was up for anything. Im not even sure what I got but it was delicious, whatever it was! The mango dessert especially was a highlight. I also ordered a samosa (another first) and it was a delish! I would definitely come back specifically for that mango dessert. Yum!

Went for a Yelp event and ordered some additional items on top of the biryani that came with the event. I had chicken samosas ($2 each) and they were flavorful and filling. The person working had a bit of difficulty understanding me, but I relied on the trusty point at something method to get what I needed, haha. I'd go back and try more food in the future.

Some more food from my Yelp Taste the World passport adventures... The dish in the aluminum container, if you love curry, it's definitely for you! Apa's Kitchen & More is inside the Broadway Market. If you're looking to try goat, go later in the day because everything is prepared fresh and the goat meat takes longer. The samosas (not pictured) were nice and crispy and flavorful. I would go back again to try some other dishes... maybe some desserts.

While walking through Broadway Market, we decided to try this newly established Bangladeshi restaurant. Bangladeshi food is very similar to that of Indian and Pakistani food. Apa's kitchen has a wide array of dishes, out of which we decided to order the goat biryani, the nihari, and puris. While we were waiting for our food, we decided to get an order of pakoras as an appetizer. The pakoras were tasty, flavorful, and nor oily. The goat biryani had a good aroma, was not dry, very flavorful, spicy enough but not too spicy, hence making it inviting to all including those not too acquainted to spicy food. We also ordered an order of nihari, which is a delicious goat stew, along with puris. Let me start of my stating that "Naan" in unknown to 95% of Indians, and is more popular in the US and Europe than in Indian. Instead, Roti/Chapati, Puri, and Paratha are more common in India. Making a puri is a skill, as it needs to be crispy and fluffy prior to taking it off the pan and serving it to the customer. As a South Asian, I can say that we tend to get very judgy about the quality of a puri. This puri was puffed, fluffy and crispy, just as it should be. The puri and the nihari went well together. We ended the meal with masala chai, which was very well done. They are fairly new, but their cooks know what they are doing. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the prices are decent. The Chicken biryani is $10, the Goat biryani is $15(totally worth it), the pakoras are $1 for 2, the puris are $2 each (totally worth it), and the masala chai is $3. One thing to note is that this is a cash only establishment.I would highly encourage visiting this restaurant. You wont regret it if you are looking for delicious South Asian food at a reasonable price!

One of my stops on the taste of the world passport brought me to the Broadway market, I tried the veggie biryani and it was very tasty. They also have chicken, beef, and goat biryani plus kabab and curry.

AMAZING food and service. The atmosphere was lackluster. Very dated in the seating area but I…read moreunderstand most of their business is to-go. They had a very large doorbell that went off anytime someone opened the front door. So with people going in and out for their to-go order , it was extremely irritating and I couldn't wait to leave... BUT! The waiter was so friendly and offered to explain any dish we needed to know more about and gave us a warning anytime we chose something really spicy. Great selection on the menu between curries, noodles, soups and rice dishes. I ended up with the Shrimp Dopiaza which ranks in one of my top favorite 5 dishes I have ever had. The flavor was amazing and SPICY, served with long grain rice, curry and lots of huge shrimp! My husband got the Special Beef khichiri which was delicious, lots of bones in there though so be prepared if you aren't expecting it. We also ordered 2 garlic naan because we were expecting a small idk, 6 in diameter disc? NO. You get 4 huge pieces per naan, practically the size of a full pizza. We should have split one but if you like garlic, this has about 2 cloves per slice. Its delicious! For dessert we ordered Gulan Jamun and Rasgulla. Oh my, it's like spongy donuts in sugar syrup. So good! Will definitely get takeout again! P s. You have you pay $1 for a bottle water if sitting down.

While I was unable to get the dine in experience/take out... here's a quick hot take. Staff.. extremely welcoming and friendly. I was greeted when I walked in and my first impression was the place is very clean. Dated. But very clean. Food. A little disappointed in the Mongolian chicken. The photo shows all kind of peppers and vegetables, my dish was just chicken. Flavor was great though, not as spicy as I have hoped but good. Chicken w/ broccoli, great of amount flavor, spot on dish! Spring rolls... absolutely amazing! Huge flavor! Garlicky naan. Not pictured but again fantastic. I'll be back, for sure. Welcome to Sloan Bismillah team!

07/15/2026: Update: Another great meal at As-Salam! It's…read morethe kind of experience where we turn to each other and say, "We don't come here often enough!" We started with the lentil soup, boiling hot and full of lemon juice and black pepper. Mango lassis for both of us, and when we asked for tap water, we were given an entire pitcher of ice water for the table, with two cups. My husband ordered lamb handi, cubes of tender meat in a thick gravy with tomatoes, onions and green peppers. He had ordered it "Medium spicy", but I think the kitchen was grading on a curve: It was less punchy than the soup. Still, I wouldn't order "Hot" as I once did here: The chef takes pride in his liberal use of peppers at this level. (The menu warns you: "This is a dish for stronger constitutions"). My lamb shashlik was char grilled on a skewer (thoughtfully removed prior to serving) with slices of tomato, onions and green peppers, plated on a sizzling iron plate. The chunks of lamb had been marinated: They were so tender! The garlic naan? Fresh from a tandoor oven, with a little char, lots of butter and garlic, and a little parsley. It was so fresh and good! After the meal our waiter asked us if we would like tea, but I couldn't have eaten anything more (though I strongly recommend their creamy rice pudding!)

For an extra $2 upcharge to get lamb I would have liked more. It was mostly bread and rice. The rice was excellent! Super flavorful. It took a while to get service and the water is bottled water. Not complimentary like most restaurants. No ice or glasses. Despite these quirks, I would absolutely return to try other items. Worth a stop!
