They had a very large doorbell that went off anytime someone opened the front door. So with people going in and out for their to-go order , it was extremely irritating and I couldn't wait to leave... BUT! The waiter was so friendly and offered to explain any dish we needed to know more about and gave us a warning anytime we chose something really spicy. Great selection on the menu between curries, noodles, soups and rice dishes. I ended up with the Shrimp Dopiaza which ranks in one of my top favorite 5 dishes I have ever had. The flavor was amazing and SPICY, served with long grain rice, curry and lots of huge shrimp! My husband got the Special Beef khichiri which was delicious, lots of bones in there though so be prepared if you aren't expecting it. We also ordered 2 garlic naan because we were expecting a small idk, 6 in diameter disc? NO. You get 4 huge pieces per naan, practically the size of a full pizza. We should have split one but if you like garlic, this has about 2 cloves per slice. Its delicious! For dessert we ordered Gulan Jamun and Rasgulla. Oh my, it's like spongy donuts in sugar syrup. So good! Will definitely get takeout again! P s. You have you pay $1 for a bottle water if sitting down.

While I was unable to get the dine in experience/take out... here's a quick hot take. Staff.. extremely welcoming and friendly. I was greeted when I walked in and my first impression was the place is very clean. Dated. But very clean. Food. A little disappointed in the Mongolian chicken. The photo shows all kind of peppers and vegetables, my dish was just chicken. Flavor was great though, not as spicy as I have hoped but good. Chicken w/ broccoli, great of amount flavor, spot on dish! Spring rolls... absolutely amazing! Huge flavor! Garlicky naan. Not pictured but again fantastic. I'll be back, for sure. Welcome to Sloan Bismillah team!

There used to be a halal restaurant/small convenience store on Broadway that sold amazing middle…read moreeastern food, but they closed down some time ago. I was impeccably happy to find Madina Halal Sweets & Restaurant while searching for local middle eastern food at great prices. Walking in on a Friday afternoon be sure to offer the Muslim greeting assalamualaikum (peace be with you). For its the holiest day of the week, and having a Masjed only a block away there is surely going to be customers waiting/eating a quick bite before rushing to complete their salat (prayers). If by chance you hold a grudge for Muslims, please do me a favor and don't visit this establishment. The restaurant is small, and dim, do not expect a perfect 5 star setting, the place is pretty close to appearing as a hole in the wall dive, but don't let that stop you from enjoying some of the most authentic middle eastern/Bangladeshi/Pakistani appetizers and entrees. You order your food from the cook just behind the counter and you can either pull up a stool to wait for take out, or have a quick bite, or you can have a seat at one of the dining tables in the back room. My husband and I ordered vegetable samosas, chicken samosas, chicken biryani, and tandoori chicken. Although we choose takeout the food does take a little while. Everything is cooked fresh to order, and it smells amazing! We wanted to tear right into the food, but we had some running around to do, so we impatiently put off consuming our meals until we reached back home in Niagara Falls NY. The samosas were absolutely delicious! The vegetable samosa was on the spicy side, generously filled with potatoes, onions, tomatoes with middle eastern spices and wrapped in a deep fried crisp almost egg rolls wrapper type of dough. The chicken was generously filled as well with chunks of sauteed chicken with aromatic vegetables and mouth watering middle eastern spices. The chicken biryani included two pieces of tender roast chicken over fluffy well seasoned basmati rice. A nice side salad of crisp iceberg lettuce and tomato was along side. The tandoori chicken was delectable! Two nicely seasoned, but not too spicy chicken leg quarters with a smokey flavor from the grill flame they were cooked over. The chicken was finished off with a sauce, similar to tzatiki sauce, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it. It too had the side salad. We immensely enjoyed all of the food, and we even fought over the last of the biryani rice. I can't wait to go again, the food really is THAT GOOD!

We have definitely enjoyed a lot of Indian food in Kenmore. For this restaurant, the taste ranks…read morehighest, with good service, and a simple atmosphere. We started with chicken samosas and poppers with fries for appetizers. The family bundles made for more affordable and easy ordering. We opted for the tandoori bundle with a few different chicken based dishes, a salad, and naan for $39.99. Then we added on the cheese naan. Salad is your basic iceberg salad with olives, cucumbers, and tomatoes. The curry had a thickened tomato soup-like base but seasoned well and great for dipping the naan. Chicken Tikka kebab came with both leg and breast meat. The tandoori over rice was seasoned with cilantro and a creamy sauce. The server was very friendly and appreciative of the business. He wasn't an owner but showed a lot of pride for the restaurant. He brought rice pudding out for the kids at the end. Atmosphere is very casual and outdated. To the right is counter service for easy takeout ordering. Then to the left is eat in with a waiter. Drinks are all canned/bottle. There's a kulfi case with a bunch of flavors to pick from for dessert. Looked yummy, but we were pretty full.

I got the tandoori chicken and was astonished to see EIGHT pieces in the box - gloriously spiced and covered with onions and peppers. The paneer tikka was also a huge spicy portion. The owner even offered me a free dessert. Definitely coming back inshaAllah!

We started with the lentil soup, boiling hot and full of lemon juice and black pepper. Mango lassis for both of us, and when we asked for tap water, we were given an entire pitcher of ice water for the table, with two cups. My husband ordered lamb handi, cubes of tender meat in a thick gravy with tomatoes, onions and green peppers. He had ordered it "Medium spicy", but I think the kitchen was grading on a curve: It was less punchy than the soup. Still, I wouldn't order "Hot" as I once did here: The chef takes pride in his liberal use of peppers at this level. (The menu warns you: "This is a dish for stronger constitutions"). My lamb shashlik was char grilled on a skewer (thoughtfully removed prior to serving) with slices of tomato, onions and green peppers, plated on a sizzling iron plate. The chunks of lamb had been marinated: They were so tender! The garlic naan? Fresh from a tandoor oven, with a little char, lots of butter and garlic, and a little parsley. It was so fresh and good! After the meal our waiter asked us if we would like tea, but I couldn't have eaten anything more (though I strongly recommend their creamy rice pudding!)

For an extra $2 upcharge to get lamb I would have liked more. It was mostly bread and rice. The rice was excellent! Super flavorful. It took a while to get service and the water is bottled water. Not complimentary like most restaurants. No ice or glasses. Despite these quirks, I would absolutely return to try other items. Worth a stop!
