The salad was fresh and the brisket plentiful atop the greens, tomatoes and cucumbers with ranch dressing. The Reuben was stellar as usual and they are generous with the smoked pastrami. The salad and the coleslaw on the Reuben balanced the savory smoked pastrami and the salad's own brisket. I took home a half pound of burnt ends and another half pound of smoked pastrami. So good...John Brown my not be the best barbecue spot overall in the five boroughs, but their smoked pastrami is undefeated. That smoked pastrami Reuben is undefeated and is the quiet star at John Brown. One more thing, there is a most kind and helpful Senora who works the floor, clearing and cleaning the tables, and will bring your food to your table when your order comes up. The restaurant is very small and cute, and everything is made to order. You get an iPad at your table where you can order all of your food, which made things really easy. They also have beer and your standard Coke products available in a cooler. Pretty much everything is shareable, which was perfect for our group. We ordered a LOT of food, and everything was really satisfying. My personal favorites were the beef and pineapple skewers. The chicken and pineapple were really good too. I also loved the toasted bread! It almost felt like a dessert, and honestly, I think it would pair really well with some ice cream in the future, even though ice cream isn't currently on the menu. I was also able to get a side of rice, which was a nice addition to the meal. I have to give a huge shout-out to the waitstaff as well. She was pretty much running the entire front of the restaurant by herself and was incredibly accommodating. At one point, I realized I didn't need all of the drinks we had ordered, and she quickly removed them without giving me any trouble. I really appreciated that level of customer service.
