I have always enjoyed going to an Ace Hardware. This location has made me rethink where I shop. Over several visits, my husband and I haven't had people offer to help, say hello or even be nice at check out. Today, I witnessed the young man at the register direct a man of color to an aisle. When the man turned to the wrong aisle, the cashier should've gone to help the man or asked someone else to help him. Instead, he seemed annoyed and barked a few more directions. There are multiple signs on the front door telling customers what they will and will not do for them and how to wipe your feet before entering so as not to track in dirt. Not a great welcome! I will find another Ace even though this one is 2 miles from my home. read more

COVID19 review: Shop local obviously, but also avoid big box stores when possible. Checkout has a sneeze guard and social distancing makes laid out on the floor to remind people to allow distance between customers waiting. Most patrons were wearing masks, however there were outliers, it was easy to steer clear and avoid them. I was able to call ahead to confirm they had what I needed (premixed grout & silicone caulk). Quick in and out. You can't do that at a big box store. Staff courteous and polite as usual. 5* read more

This is a nice Ace hardware location that is always clean and not overly crowded. There is no trouble finding a parking spot and I can get in and get out in a few minutes. I have always been greeted at the door by staff and asked if I needed help finding anything. I've never had to wait in a long line. The prices are fair and the selections are good. My dad's said for years that "If Ace doesn't have it, you don't need it" and he's been proven right time and again. Not only that, Ace is bound to have particular items that specialty shops in town don't have themselves. Case in point: Several months ago, I was fabricating a follow-focus system for my DSLR. Rather than spending north of $900, I knew I could construct something myself. Shame on me for not having gone straight to Ace at the beginning. Instead, I went to Home Depot (I like Home Depot and Lowe's equally, BTW) and the guy in hardware said that I was going to have a hard time finding a particular fastener - but to try Fastenal out on Appleyard & Jackson Bluff. I went there (pretty cool store) but they didn't have what I was looking for. (I was looking for a particular 6.5mm standoff bolt with accompanying riser, washer and nut.) Fastenal was very helpful, but didn't have precisely what I was looking for. I figured I'd check out their major competitor (Grainger) but they weren't helpful either. Remembering my dad's old adage, I went to the Ace closest to where he lives (this one's out on the Parkway, before you get to Connors). Sure enough - they had something that I could use. It's wasn't precisely what I was seeking, but it was better suited than any other fastener I could find in town that day. So - bottom line is that while Ace isn't centrally located (they're inconveniently located outside of capital circle) they're definitely worth the trip. When I think back on it - there's no time that I went to Ace and didn't buy what I was looking for. read more

***Writing this review solely based off word of mouth*** I have heard from two different friends that during Hurricane Hermine Ace Hardware's doors were open the day after with generators. They were extremely helpful and even running credit cards the old fashion way by hand because their machines were down but really were just trying to help people in need providing excellent service. Walmart (which I tried to go to) across the streets, the lights were on and customers were turned away stating they were closed, people drove across the street where they were able to be helped at Ace. Normally this is my go to hardware store but our last experience here was really disappointing. I will qualify this by saying that anytime we have been in the store most are quick to help you and you leave with a good experience. This trip, we needed to fill our propane tank and it became clear that no one there was interested in taking care of it for us. Will give props to the initial clerk my wife spoke with who tried multiple time to get help. Eventually we were given some line about "due to federal law they have to wait 45 minutes to fill propane after lightening in area." Seems legit, except it had stopped more than an hour earlier. We know because we live close by. I get filling propane must be a pain for employees to fill, but if it's that big of a burden, don't offer it at all. Fortunately the guys selling produce in the parking lot reminded us of Fountain's down the street. It wasn't a problem getting service from them and they had technically closed for the day. Customer service mean't something to them. Hope that Ace remembers that in the future. read more

To begin this story, my wife got a brand new riding lawn Mower. She was doing the yard and then she ran over something she wasn't sure about. It was the outside drain Piece and it broke off in multiple pieces. I brought it in to the Ace Hardware store down the street from my house and showed the whole unit that I brought in for the drain assembly. I started to buy just the part I thought I needed but then I realized nothing fit the way I thought it should have. I got help by a gentleman by the name of Haven, And we work through it until we found a solution. We were able to utilize one old piece and assemble the rest of it and he probly saved me about $20. That was awesome and he Was super friendly throughout the whole process. I don't know why I keep going to the Box stores, I just need to go down to the Ace Hardware store where I've always had good help. read more

He apologized when I complained, which was good, but this is the second time I have been in there and seen employees not wearing masks. I like this store but that is not okay with me. Pretty good store wiwth great service. I would take them over home depot any day of the week. I went in there and I needed some help cleaning up a fridge I got off craigslist and they were very helpful the manager walked with me through the isles trying to figure out what I needed. The prices were alright and they had decent selection. I also picked up some strike anywhere matches which are very rare. Ace Hardware is pretty much the only place that still reliably sells strike anywhere matches. read more

Got to your store at 4 minutes before 7p...the doors were already closed...ur sign says you close at 7p. An employee waves me away from the door! I of course needed one quick item...I just want Management to know that Ace has lost a long time customer!....if u close at 656pm...then put that on the door...and I'm ok with that! So, I was in need of a part because of a leaky pipe, and while I generally try to support local businesses, I will never return to this ACE and everyone I know will know of this experience. I get there, and it is not yet 7:00 when the clerk inside told me they were closed and waived me off...really?. I even pleaded saying I need one thing, and it won't take but a second. He ignored me and turned away. So ACE management, is this what superior service is? I even called and when he answered, he said they get to go home too. Closing at 7:00 means closing at 7:00 not before so you can get out of there at 7:00. He seemed to be heartless when I told him I have a leaky pipe, and really needed to get apart. Didn't seem to care. I know it costs more at ACE because they tout their superior service, but this is the second time I had terrible service at this location. The other time, the guy didn't know the difference between pool salt and softener salt or even where it was. I can get that kind of service at the big box store for less money!! I love the ACE in Woodville and Kerry forest. They walk you to what you need and dote all over you, but after reading reviews on this ACE, they're loosing customers. I found what I needed across the street at Walmart, and cheaper! No longer will I pay more for terrible service at this ACE, but who is really listening. So if someone is. It was whoever was working last night 11/1/2018. Needs a new job! read more

Very friendly and helpful staff. I am so glad to have a nice hardware on the Parkway to pick up various items you need without making a longer trip to the competing hardware stores on Capital Circle. I can walk in and get help immediately. I can walk in and out with my items quickly. I have also called ahead and asked them to pull a few items for me to hold, and they will do that so I can run in and out quickly too. They have the best pricing on the single Hypoallergenic AC filters and trust me, I am always price checking. If you need crickets to feed your lizards, they are only 4 cent each at Ace. You lizard lovers know that is a bargain... lol... This is an organized and nicely merchandised store. I recently purchased a very nice Whiskey Barrel Fire Pit and this store offered it for roughly $70 less than the online ACE store did. The staff told me it was a warehouse item they were sold at a discount and they wanted to offer that same discount to their customers and on the item. It was very heavy and they were gracious enough to have it put together and loaded it in my car for me when I came by to pick it up. In general, this store has impressive customer service. I am going to continue being a loyal Apalachee Ace Hardware customer! read more
