AP plumbing responded very quickly to my call. I had a problem with my toilet on a Friday morning and I am elderly and disabled and asked for their service as soon as possible. They responded within 4 hours One of their representatives were at my door. My problem was fixed within an hour and I was very happy with the service. I noticed that they probably were a little pricier than I could have gotten if I had inquired around but I wanted it done I wanted it done right and I wanted it done right away and they provided all of that. After paying my bill I read up a little bit more on them and saw that they offered a senior discount. I called and without hesitation I was told they do offer a senior discount and they would be sending me a check. Within 5 days I received the check from them. They are way overpriced. I needed to have a leaking hot water tank replaced. The service was good but I believe the tank, parts and labor were overpriced. They do not give you an itemized bill. It just shows the total cost. When I called and asked for one I was told that they don't do that. I at least wanted to know the cost of the tank and the labor. I wanted an estimate on fixing a drain sink and installing a hot water heater. They charged $100 to come and give an estimate. The estimate for the drain was $800. The employers name was Tommy and I told him the price was much to high for a drain. He asked me to pay the service charge and he was on his way. Later at nearly 80, I tackled the job myself. Much to my surprise, the part cost $18 and took 15 minutes to complete. I recently had an emergency plumbing issue and called AP Plumbing to replace a shower faucet and valve. They quoted me $1,500 for the job -- more than twice what other reputable companies quoted for the same work. I was shocked by the price, but felt pressured to proceed due to the urgency of the situation. It's clear they took advantage of the emergency to overcharge significantly. I later received quotes from other licensed plumbers ranging from $600 to $700 for the exact same service. I feel misled and exploited. I would not recommend AP Plumbing to anyone looking for fair pricing or honest service. Do your research and get multiple quotes -- especially in an emergency. Do NOT call AP plumbing when you have an issue. I had a member come out to snake my pipes because my sink was backing up. DOn't get me wrong, this guy was very kind and tried his best. He tried snaking it and could not get through. After he left, unfortunately my cold water was not hooked up, I had a leak in my basement, and they utilized parts that I bought from Home Depot to repair the piping under the sink. After all said and done, they changed me $630 dollars for no solution and more problems, and wanted to charge me more to have someone else come back out and put in new piping. I contacted them to tell them the job they did was not nearly worth $630 (for no solution, a leak, my water not being reconnected and using my parts that I purchased with my money). On two different occasions they were supposed to come back out to my house to look into the problems that I was requesting money back for, and BOTH times they were a no show. Great way treat your customers. They didn't want to refund me anything at this point, then after fighting, they offered me 10% (which is crap), and then finalized with $130 back. I had a half bath installed in my home. it was just adding a toilet to existing service (which was directly beneath floor) and sink (with service directly below the floor). i am probably 20 miles from the main location for ap plumbing so we are not next door. we have called several places which advertise "no job is too small" and yet, the proof in the pudding is that their ads are not truthful, some jobs are too small and many refused to do such a small job without more work and added price. in any case, while they did an approved job by the town inspector, we also had to PAY for our desperation to get the half bath. i expected a bit more for the quote but had no real choice in our area to pay the inflated cost. i have no issue with the employees doing the job, as they were professional, efficient and cleaned up afterwards, or for that matter the one giving the quote as he spent quite a bit of time on the phone prior to the quote. i have to guess it was one of his bosses giving the word for the quote. i gave one star BECAUSE OF THE INCREDIBLE PRICE WE WERE CHARGED. i would have given a five star due to the two young men doing the work but they didnt have anything to do with the quote. anyone we speak with or show the work to give the same response to the work as fine but when they hear the price they wince... While I appreciate them running a new drain line for my old clogged pipe in the bathroom upstairs, I don't appreciate that they: Cut support for floor above (sistering to level the floor). CUT into the joist and CRACKED/SPLIT it at the bottom while removing a piece of the support. I purchased joist supports from Simpson to shore it up. read more

I will give them one star for showing up on time and fixing the problem. We were kind of stuck with them because we don't know anything about plumbing. They came to fix my 80 year old Mom's toilet. We later found out they totally ripped her off. $170 for a flapper and $172 for a fill valve, both of which are probably $6 parts. Another $89 for the pleasure of them even coming to the house. At the end of the day my Mom paid $443 for a 15 minute visit. I would never call them again. Update: Lynette below has Jason her Service Manager call me. I have been an AP Plumbing customer for about 15 years so I called them when I needed a kitchen faucet installed. There was an $89 "dispatch fee". I was not given an estimate for the installation. I thought it would be on the high end but was stunned that all together it was over $600. Easily double what I expected. It took 15 minutes. Much more time was spent looking at my copper plumbing. I was told it was a disaster and needed to be replaced ASAP. $5500! The fee for the install would waived if I signed on the spot. I declined and the next day got numerous calls and emails about financing and signing an agreement. I wiped the moisture off the pipes and they have been dry since. The moisture was from the original leaking faucet. I called and complained to a service manager who told me this was standard business practice. Not the same company it once was! read more

I feel as though I need to leave two reviews. The first worker that came was amazing, he took his time to explain everything and give me my best options for a new water tank. He was personable and kind, even making my daughter laugh. My second review is where the 1 star comes into play, after the water tank was installed (by a different worker) about a week and a half later we finally noticed a gas leak. When we called back to have someone come look at it they said it would be a six hour wait, didn't provide any further instructions and I had to ask for ASAP service considering I have an 11 month old in the house (who I removed for safety reasons and brought to work with me). They got there within 2 hours (it was the good worker again - who apologized and said something was not properly tightened down). When I called AP plumbing to express my frustration with the situation, I had to talk to Jason. I was told he would have to talk to the technician to see what happened (rudely by the way). I said this was fine. Then i had to repeatedly call, for him to be on "unavailable" . When we finally connected he offered a 10% discount, the water tank was 2000. It felt as though he was saying my families life was only worth $200, I asked if we could do 25% and I thought this was reasonable. I thought he agreed but it turned out to be a miscommunication so when I called again to get it fixed. He said he would have to get the voice recording to confirm what he said. I agreed that I would like to hear it because maybe I was confused. I then had to call him AGAIN and AGAIN with him being "unavailable" until he finally called back and said his system was being changed and he wouldn't have access till later. After that it was excuse after excuse about this recording. With a phone call on Friday the story comes to an end of him saying it doesn't matter about the recording and he wouldn't do anymore than 10% even though I had lost money with having to take my baby to work with me and untold stress and damage on our bodies from breathing in gas. I had explained my frustration, and expressed that I would be happy with 25% and he called the numbers "arbitrary" as if you could actually put a number on the health and safety of a family. He then stated nothing could be done short of litigation, which I had never even brought up because I thought this could be handled between us. However, I was wrong. If that one worker was not affiliated with this company I would give him five stars. Jason and AP plumbing get zero stars, would not recommend to anyone who has families. read more

I had decent service with them over the last few years. Now - Stay Away. I had a sump pump that was constantly running. I called on a weekend and for a 24 hour service they could come till Monday. 2nd time 24/7 service was not available. This case there was no emergency until Tuesday when heavy rain and melting snowpack was forecast, so 1st thing Mondy was OK because I had a battery backup pump connected as well. $89 just to come out and give a quote. OK, but on the pricey side. The sump pump is not in the easiest location. It's under a countertop in the basement. After looking the job over. He gave me a quote of $1300.00. Just to replace a $200 pump. Ouch! I was stuck because I know how fast the crock fills when the spring melt off hits. It goes off every 6 minutes or less. I would be in real trouble if not fixed. So I gave the OK reluctantly and told him I was upset with the price. I would have replaced it myself but I am wheelchair bound. It took him less than a half hour to complete the job so he game me a discount. The total came to just over $900.00. The next day when we got the rain an melt off. The pump was going off every minute and a half or less. Then only running for less than 10 seconds. On top of that. You could hear the air rumbling through the lines and my tenant complained about the thumping of the piping going through his bedroom. I called and asked to have someone come to look at it. The "senior" plumber That came said well it's working and then tried to tell me how to keep the water out of my basement. I told him the old pump was also "working" but wouldn't turn off. Does that mean it's OK too? No, I've been here 25 years and have replaced the sump pump 5 times. I never had these issues. The guy was not only useless but insulting. On further inspection I noticed that he had also removed the ceramic tile that the old pump rested on. read more

They won't fix your problem and they will charge you for the attempt. Technician came out, said it would be $500 to snake out our clogged gutter drain. Seemed expensive but we aren't experts and valuing the experience of an expert, we agreed to the price. After attempting it he announced that he couldn't complete the job, they would need to come back with a camera and dig up the pipe for thousands of dollars. He then said that he still needed to charge us the $500 for the attempt, even though we were in the exact same position we were before he started. $500 to not fix our problem. Will never use or recommend this company again. I understand that it's $89 to have a technician come out, but the rest of that fee should be contingent upon actually completing the service they agreed to do. Paid $89 for a service call to get an estimate for removing an anode rod from a hot water tank. An easy job with the right tools that we do not own. They gave me a quote of $315 for the labor to drain the tank a little, turn off the water and remove the anode rod. This is honestly a 5-minute job with the right tools! Shame on me for agreeing to the service call. Shame on them for clearly attempting to rip me off. read more

The plumbers who came to our home were professional and courteous. For a "flapper & ball" for the toilet, we paid $218, including the $89. Now, I don't know if we were overcharged. We should have looked these prices up beforehand. There isn't the constant toilet running noise, and it flushes as it is supposed to. They also provided us with the coupon that we forgot to mention. I was going to complain about this, but I double-checked our invoice, and it's there. I'd recommend AP based on this one experience with them. Outrageously high prices, and they charge you $89 just to walk in the door and give you the quote. I agreed to it, like an idiot, because I just wanted the job done and use the sink again. They installed a new garbage disposal in about 15 minutes and I paid what you would pay for a good dishwasher being installed. My bad for agreeing to it. They have a flat rate price for everything which seems to take into account any worst case scenario so that they are covered, meaning that the customer only benefits if the worst case scenario actually comes to fruition. Lynette, Thank you for responding and your questions. I agree, it is good to know if the comparisons are equal. The information on the quote I received from AP was for "Replace sump pump with 1/3 HP pump $561.81" (Retail cost $200) and "Liberty SJ10A backup pump $1,556.20" (Backup pump with the alarm, retail cost $500). No additional information or explanation was provided of what would be provided in the installation; such as the double check valve, compression valves or the first test and report to MCWA. When I spoke to your plumber during the inspection, I indicated we did not need an alarm as I had a water alarm in the sump pump closet but the pump with the alarm was quoted. We also discussed that there was an existing water backup system installed and no additional piping would be required. In answer to your questions: I did not have the alarm for the backup pump installed. As for the valves; yes, there are three check valves on the system, two I know are compression. As for the report to MCWA, I am not sure but will ensure it was completed. The bottom line to my complaint/concern was the total cost or the amount being charged for labor above the cost of materials. Even taking in consideration of the SJ10A alarmed backup quoted, the cost of material at retail would have been around $900, on the high end. That still calculates to $1,200 for installation for what would be a maximum of a two hour install. The service I used charged $750 ($1,368 less than your quote) for all the equipment and installation and the job was completed in one hour. read more

Our hot water heater started leaking 2 1/2 years when it was installed. I call AP Plumbing. Charged $89 just to come out. Since the water heater was under warranty, I took it back once it was out and got a new one. After installing it (it was the same one as the old one), I was charged $1,100!!!! I feel that it is an outrageous amount for installing it since I took the old one back and got the new one!!!! Highly recommend AP Plumbing! Had a couple plumbing problems- shower temp regulator and grinder pump issue. Two plumbers gave me the same answers to correct the problem but did not solve. John D looked at the regulator and was able to adjust- no new parts needed. The grinder issue was finally solved after many years thanks to a "smoke test" finding the issue. read more

Our house was built in 1918. Water service was added in 1927. With the lack of water pressure we needed a new line. After looking I found AP plumbing. I was very impressed with the crew and the work done. I expected that we would run into problems (what do you expect from a 100 year old house.) They did everything they could to run the line, unfortunately, they ended up having to dig up the yard. I don't blame them at all, I saw the work they did and how how hard they worked to do it. Price was right and, even with the extra work stayed on price. They were polite, considerate of us homeowners, cleaned up after themselves. Note: I have 12 years of general contracting expertise. My elderly parents had a leak under their sink and as I was out of town, I advised that they just get someone in ASAP to prevent any damage and, from experience, recommended they call AP plumbing. From the account of my parents, and the two plumbers that were sent who I spoke to on the phone, they inspected the sink, the faucet, the supplies, and the drain. They cut holes in the under sink cabinet and in the drywall. Lots of water but No leak found. My parents contacted me afterwords and said a) AP said the leak was coming from outside and couldn't be identified (though they told them it hadn't rained in 2 weeks and the floor was actively wet) and b) they had been charged $600. Two men, three hours, no solution $600. My dad told me this and that the leak was still active but as AP had told them it wasn't coming from the sink, they continued to use the sink and unbeknown to them the damage worsened behind the cabinet and then running into the kitchen floor and bathroom ceiling below- mold, ruined drywall in the kitchen and the bathroom below, and now severely warped wood flooring. I estimate it will be +$2000 to repair all back to normal. When I arrived home it took me minutes of sticking my head into the holes AP had cut to identify the source of the leak - the sink drain. Admittedly, the point of the leak was 4" or so passed where AP had cut the hole in the cabinet but all it took was sticking my head in there with a flashlight to find it. I noted my construction experience because take it from me, this is really basic stuff. AP came back and repaired it (figured we may as well get our money's worth for $600 instead of performing the repair myself). I was satisfied with the professionalism and skill of the the repair as is typical with AP - but they then tried to charge another $600 or so for the the repair (my figures may be off but it was close to that). We called AP and they did the right thing and waived the charge. I see AP is good about responding to reviews - I'm just being honest here - in this industry the price is the price but it's unbecoming of your reputation (I've hired you for commercial work multiple times over the years) to not identify such a simple leak and now I'm looking at pretty steep repair costs. I'm happy to revise or remove my review for a better resolution than $600. It's just not right that I'm into a pretty big repair job now because I couldn't help my parents that day and the professionals at AP plumbing didn't do their due diligence. This review should be 5 stars and say "AP saved the day" - in which case I wouldn't be sweating the bill. The only bright side is that I was able to get home within a week, no telling how much more damage could have occurred if I had been delayed longer. read more

I hired this company to find and repair a small leak in my kitchen. They sent two workman down to find and fix the problem.They charged $361.00 to walk in the door. Then added another $270.00 to look for the leak. After making holes in my kitchen cabinets,drywall, and bathroom ceiling they concluded the water was coming from outside the house,despite the fact it hadnt rained for a week. Two hours later water started leaking again from the bathroom ceiling. My son came to the house and found a leak from the kitchen sink drain line in around twenty minutes. I then called AP again. They came down the next days and repaired the leak which required replacing a PVC drain joint. They then wanted to Charge an additional $556.00 for a total charge of $1227. to repair a minor leak in a pvc connection. Needless to say I didnt pay the second charge and asked for a credit towards the first charge. read more

They ended up being at my house for about an hour and were unable to resolve the issue. They said they would only charge me half and the other half would be collected if they have to come back out. Wtf? $350 for an hour of work that didn't resolve anything. The only thing they did was dig three tiny holes in my yard. I offered to pay them some for their time. Didn't want a freebie. But they would take 50% or nothing. They are scam artists that don't know what they are doing.
