    Warning very easy to miss
    Jana K.

Buyer beware! What you see on the website is not what you find in the office! The website claims "competitive and transparent lab test pricing". I pick the test at the listed price. I get tested. I pay cash. No insurance involved. Simple. But the prices on the national corporate website are not the prices charged at the time of testing. This is somewhat surprising if you miss the one time it is on their website in teeny, tiny print. The local office claims that they are a franchise and have no control over the corporate website pricing or displayed information. The higher billed price reflects the local economy out of necessity. They also claim that it is not their fault that the local number listed on the website for the local office wrongly confirmed the test price prior to my showing up for the appointment. Again, they claimed it was not their problem the call routes to a call center and I was quoted the website price by someone outside of the local office. If it matters to you, ASK in the office BEFORE you have the test done so you can walk away or you will be stuck paying more than you expected. Update: Although speaking to the franchise supervisor at the time did no good with correcting the billing issue, after a call to the corporate office to express my frustration with their inaccurate website and their franchise manager I did get a refund from the franchise. It waits to be seen if the issue will be corrected in the long run between the corporate website errors and the local management's lack of concern for customers.

Store hours according to their website, but they are actually closed Saturday's and don't bother to update the website.

I stopped by on Saturday during scheduled open hours to find they were closed. A printed sheet of paper with daily lab hours was taped to the door that indicated they were closed on Saturdays. The website clearly says they are OPEN on saturdays. I don't know if they just don't bother to update their website or some employee decided to take the day off and shut the place down. Either way, totally unreliable and a complete waste of my time. I have to wonder about the quality of patient care at a place that can't do something as simple as update their hours on a web page in this day and age. That was my first and only attempt at going to this place.

My trip to China needed a timely COVID-19 test report, and I got the results on time. People worked in the lab were nice and very helpful. Thanks a lot!

Booking site that shows $90 or $150 for COVID PCR nasal test

We had an appointment for a nasal swab COVID PCR test recently. We needed to get the test for travel to Hawaii. We had used this lab in December 2020 for the same reason and had a good experience, so we returned. They are a lab working with US Biotek which is a recommended COVID testing site by Hawaiian Airlines. The testing site is convenient, and they quickly turn around the results, but I was dissatisfied with their billing. We took two tests there and then were charged $538. I asked the person at the lab if this is correct because I thought it would be no more than $200 per person. He said that it was correct as the PCR test is $269 each. I asked if this was the price for the Hawaiian Airlines passengers and he said yes. I agreed to pay it as we had no other choice and the person seemed very sure that it was correct. When I got home I double-checked the site for Hawaiian Airlines passengers. When you click on the link through the Hawaiian Airlines site, it takes you to a booking page for the COVID tests through Any Lab Test Now. The costs listed are $90 for a PCR test for results in 48 to 72 hours and $150 for expedited results in 24 hours. I tried to call their office on Monday to check if there was an error in what I was charged. No one answered their office number and their voicemail box is full. (This was the case back in Dec 2020 when I also tried to reach them by phone.) I tried to call other numbers for their lab that I found on the web but was unable to reach anyone. I don't know who to contact at this point, other than going back to the lab to speak to someone in person, or contacting their corporate office as another reviewer did. I guess we will just have to deal with the cost but it seems very unreasonable to have to pay over $500 for two COVID tests. I may try to submit a complaint to US Biotek about this site as they are charging more than what is being advertised through Hawaiian Airlines (see screenshot).

They told us it was because, at the end of the appointment, the doctor asked if we had any concerns. We casually mentioned our child has occasional constipation, and the doctor gave some very basic advice--eat more fruits and vegetables, cut back on starch, that's it. And somehow that turned into an extra charge of $262. That's what really shocked me. Is Allegro so desperate to make money? It feels like during a standard checkup--something you assume is fully covered--you're almost being prompted to bring up questions, only to get charged for it afterward without any warning. How is that okay? It honestly feels misleading. If this is how Allegro operates, I can't imagine families feeling comfortable going back. This kind of experience really breaks trust.

It is so much easier for me to navigate through the Kaiser system than locate independent providers through Regence Coverage. You call one number and are set up for all your medical needs. I have NEVER had an easier time or better results than I experienced with Seattle's Kaiser group. Their doctors, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, customer phone representatives and all support staff really seem to care about you and your health. This is problematic. I am the Director of H.R for a company of about 50 people working at the Port of Seattle. We recently changed health plans. Unfortunately, the "upgraded plan" available to executives is a Regence (Blue Cross/Blue Shield Plan). Ironically, I feel like that this "upgrade" isn't an upgrade at all. I LOVE KAISER and I am likely to go back whatever the cost after we renew in January of 2020. I have never experienced better care, more follow up, less wait- time and fewer additional fees than I have with Kaiser. I came in to meet Dr. Church (Redmond), because of a scheduling issue Dr. Church was SUPER thorough, knowledgeable, professional and considerate. After I left his office, Dr. Church researched how best to alleviate my menopause drama. He followed up with both me and my pharmacist and suggested I try a little different medication. Since I have started on my new meds, I am symptom-less!!

The services I've received have been great, and my appointments to visit the doctor are quick. I love that there's a self check-in station, and I usually don't have to wait too long before being called. As far as the lab goes, I've consistently had poor experiences with long waiting time. The first time, I was the only one in line and waited over 20 minutes to give a urine sample. Last week, I came in the afternoon around 3 p.m. to give a urine sample, and a sign was over the kiosk saying that staff was on break and unavailable, so I was frustrated I drove out there and wasn't able to complete my lab (I had to leave). This morning (Friday at 8:30 a.m.) I waited over 40 minutes for my lab. If the wait times weren't as bad for the lab and service was continuous throughout the day, I would certainly provide a higher rating.

I'm not sure about the other reviews, but I have definitely considered the difference between my experience with Quest as a corporation versus the location that is in the Safeway. I would give the Safeway location five stars. But I would give the corporation two stars. Thus, the 4-star review--mainly because of the staff I interacted with. The problem with Quest as a corporation is that it's very hard to get into a location as a walk-in patient because they're severely understaffed AND it is extremely difficult to speak with a live person over the phone. I hope anyone reading this will grant a little grace to the people who work here because of that. In addition, there is no way to get through to a local location to ask a question or tell them that you are running late for an appointment. Halfway there I realized I left my paperwork at home. I knew this would affect my appointment but I couldn't talk to anybody at the actual location to let them know. I called the 800 number and was on hold for quite a while until I reached someone that I could speak with. But that person wasn't local. So I had to fumble through figuring out if I could still make it to the location for a later appointment. They told me that the scheduling system hadn't been working and that they didn't know if all locations accepted walk-ins, however the location I was originally scheduled at did accept them and currently there was a 5-minute wait time. I decided to take my chances and drive to my original appointment location. The office is at the back of a Safeway next to the pharmacy. Upon entering, you need to check-in at an automated kiosk. There were already several people in the waiting room and the waiting room is small. They have some chairs turned up so you don't sit right next to someone, but it's impossible to socially distance because of the size of the waiting room. You have the option to wait for your appointment outside and receive a text when they're ready for you. But I didn't want to risk missing my appointment so I stayed in the office. Since I was late, the system said I had to check-in as a walk-in, which was fine by me. Later, when I was talking to the phlebotomist, I found out that I was lucky to make it in when I did because walk-in appointments may or may not be seen due to volume. For instance, a lady who walked in that morning had to wait one hour. And then her doctors office had not sent in the paperwork so they had to contact her doctor's office, prolonging her appointment even further. (Pro tip: make sure you have paperwork in hand or your doctor's office has sent the order in). Luckily for me, they had a no-show so I was able to take that slot and bypass the walk-in wait. The phlebotomist was cheerful, talkative, and informative--something that so often seems to be missing from healthcare because of overwork, underpayment, and employees being stretched thin. I really appreciated her demeanor and attitude. All in all, it was a good visit. Next time I will remember my paperwork and come early!

Lots of people waiting. Very slow progress. Bring a book. It's like visiting the DoL/DMV.read more
