I did not have a pleasant experience with this doctor. Wish I read the negativ reviews prior to making the appointment. At first I thought he was a comedian because how could a doctor act so arrogant, and then I realized this was his personality. Always right, didn't care to listen to me, bragged about himself, rushed me through the appointment and was insulting. I actually felt sorry for him at the end. I see Dr. Silva for migraines and seizures. The seizures are something new for me and my path through was really scary and unclear to me. Dr. Silva listened to my concerns, is much more interested in monitoring my symptoms than my previous neurologist was. I just had a very good experience with Dr. Silva-not sure what some of the low ratings are about...perhaps some people just didn't connect? He performed an EMG which took over an hour and was very professional, knowledgable and pleasant the whole time..he seemed to make an extra effort to put me at ease and clearly knew what he was doing-really good "bed-side" manner. Oh well- Starting to say that it took me a little while before cooling down and write my review. I am shocked and disapointed. I wish i saw all the reviews before meeting with this DR. And please fogive me not to mention his name cause it will be giving him consideration which he did not earn to my point. I am not going to add much more than what has already been said only to say that it will be a compilation of all of the above. But one thing trigerred me is how can a "DR" tell a patient. I am not like american and not here to baby you, but will tell you things straight. Take it or leave it. Also as he said. I am a foreigner and as such sort of saying i am not obliged to follow the Amrican way of being polite, ethical etc. WOW, I think he quickly forgot that we are paying him to be that way, and for God sake this is "America" and someone had to tell him that, if he does not like it may be go somehere in a Banana Republic, where this kind of practice and behavior is acceptable. I was skeptacle at my first visit but my second was a confirmation of how i felt about him. All of this cause, i made a comment about the way he was speaking to me and may be to let me finish talking to express my concerns (Not going back on what the previous patients were saying). He even allowed himself to ask me where i was from which at this point was pointless but did not like it when i told him i was a mediterean and i am also able to give him some change to his money. From that point it was no return and had to leave not agravate the situation. And his response was "Your Choice" I have started contacting some executive at Sutter Health. But it is a shame that after all these reviews and this guy is still practicing. I can see the reponses from Sutter Health that they are very sorry but common guys, really!!! I found Dr. Silva to be rude, condescending, disrespectful and dismissive. A quick example - I was hesitant about taking a specific medication (Plavix) . I wanted to discuss my concerns with him but before I could start he dictated to his scribe that I was "non compliant.". I must have looked surprised because he said "it's a medical term, I'm giving you information." His manner was pugnacious and angry. Absolute worst experience I have ever had with a doctor.AVOID!!!!! Left bawling the hardest I have cried in a long time. I have seen multiple specialists in multiple different states due to moving often. I have had mean, or flippant doctors, but never ever encountered someone so unfit to be in such a high stakes position. And to leave that extremely traumatic appointment and open my phone and read dozens of the exact same stories from other women makes me SERIOUSLY question the legitimacy of Stutter Health. I have been struggling with severe autonomic issues and severe nerve pain for which i was given an emergency appointment early. He was so condescending immediately upon entering that I called my mom. He spent the entire appointment telling my mom how bad he thought my attitude was. Her insurance is covering this and she and myself asked him to let me list my symptoms. Whenever i would try he would interrupt to talk about he thought i was being rude. He kept doing this, until i was sobbing and begging him to let me list my symptoms, explaining that my issues were severe and i didn't know if i would be able to make it multiple months for another appointment. When he finally let me speak, he stopped me again, to insist that i explain what brain fog was. He also showed ignorance to extremely common english words. I said the word "overarching" (as in broad, overview) and he laughed at me and insisted over and over i meant "overwhelming". He continued to insist he was right after the other woman in the room explained to him what the word meant. He is a neurologist, which requires complex communication, so this was concerning. He left in the middle of me speaking basically immediately after walking in, without explain where he was going, didn't apologize or explain after. Spent the entire time insisting, unprompted, that i was not being nice enough, saying i should act better on the phone to my mother. Neither of us asked him anything to start this derailment. this was extremely violating and creepy, given that i am a young woman and he is a medical professional, not my parent. My mom and I were both absolutely disgusted and appalled at the entire experience. I came in having already explained ahead of time how severe my issues were. I was in a venerable and desperate condition seeking care and he chose to prioritize his feelings over a medical necessity. I am heartbroken and hoping people read these reviews and LISTEN!!! I want to say I'm so lucky that I can make an appointment with Doctor Silva. I do not know why so many people give him bad comments. But at least, for me, I think he is the best doctor I've ever met. He is so kind, warm-hearted and patient. And of course he is so professional. As I had high frequent muscle twitch for about two month, I was really anxious as I was afraid I met some horrible diseases like ALS. In my first meeting with Doctor Silva, he listened to my description really carefully, and asked me many questions to clarify my symptoms. And then he check my body very comprehensively and carefully. The whole process last about 30 minutes. And then he said he was confident that I was not ALS, but he understood my fear, so he can do the EMG test for me by himself. And then the assistant Jasmine checked the date for me. I also want to show my appreciate to Jasmine, she is so careful and professional. And first I have to wait for about the whole month, but luckily someone cancelled the appointment. So, I can did the test at April.27th. Before the test, I was really afraid and nervous. But Doctor Silva treat me so carefully and patiently. He explained the what would happen and what I had to do during the whole process. To make me relaxed, he played soft music and chatted with during the whole process. And finally, he said after the EMG test, he was 100 percent confident that I was not ALS. The report shows that these electrodiagnostic studies provide evidence for probable benign fasciculation syndrome. There is no electrodiagnostic evidence for motor neuron disease (i.e., amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Finally, I end my fear and worry! I really appreciate the help care and consideration from Doctor Silva. In some means, he saved my life and make me can go back to my normal life. At last, Doctor said he promised I would have a long and healthy life. I hope Doctor Silva and Jasmine can also have a long, happy and healthy life. For one he is very condescending but he was about 45 minutes late to a video appointment that took about 5 minutes long. He was rude to me over the call because I couldn't hear him and had to put the phone to my ear and he immediately stopped speaking to me so I was confused??? I have been a patient of dr. Silva for a few years now. He is the best practitioner that I've had for my migraine headaches. I come from a medical background and, sometimes we are set in our ways and want to treat ourselves or just do the same treatment that you have had. He took his time understanding my complex diagnosis and build a relationship so I could accept his advise and follow his treatment. The purpose of this review is to help other patients or the patient's loved one(s) when they are researching for what doctors they should go to. I feel that finding a good doctor that works well with the patient and their loved ones is extremely important. Based on my experience, I do not feel that Dr. Silva-Sayago cares about his patients. He does not take the time to understand his patient's medical history either by listening or asking questions to learn more about his patient. When I try to provide him with an update, he cuts me off and said he already read the report. When I discuss my mother's symptoms and mentioned that I did some research online, he cuts me off and ask me if I am telling him or asking him. I was just trying to give him as much info about my mother as I think it can help and ask him what he thought. But I sense his impatience and that he seems offended. He expressed that he is uncertain of my mother's diagnosis and I truly appreciate his honesty, but he did not attempt to ask questions or do more tests or anything further to try to work with us and figure it out. That was the end and he referred her to another office. He prescribed her a medicine, even though he did not formally diagnosis her. Overall, I don't feel that he cares about his patients. He has a bit of an ego and is impatient. It is a bit intimidating to speak with him because of that. I don't feel that he tries his best to help and do what's best for his patient. He is definitely NOT what medicine is abt and I know this as I've wkd in medicine over 25yrs and had over a dozen surgeries with several qualified, capable surgeons and their counterparts. My experience with Dr. Silva-Sayago was the worst interpersonal interaction I've had with any doctor in my adult life. He seemed defensive from the moment I arrived, as if I had insulted him by walking in the room. It appeared to be a strain to show me basic courtesy, as if I was unworthy of his respect but he was going through the motions. His energy was hostile. He spoke to me as if I was stupid (I have graduate degrees). He was dismissive, cut me off when I spoke, explained none of his conclusions, and expressed little care about or interest in me, my symptoms, or my medical history. SUTTER - WHAT ARE YOU DOING ABOUT THIS? The 2 times I've met with this man have been awful! I reviewed the Yelp reviews to assess if my experience was unique to my experience and it clearly WAS NOT. Are you just going to keep apologizing to each patient who has taken the time to report their experience with this doctor? PLEASE DO SOMETHING! This doctor's only skill is his unique ability to make you feel incredibly bothersome and ignorant. "Condescending" and "Arrogant" were both used in prior reviews to describe this man and I couldn't agree more. He presents as "put out" by my mere presence and audibly sighs repeatedly at my questions. When I mentioned he seemed frustrated - he insisted I was the one who was frustrated. It was like talking to my 3 year old. He shared how annoying it is to him that radiology results are released to the patients as he must then answer questions he would otherwise not have to address. When I hesitantly proceeded to ask my "unrelated" question, he dismissed my concern by noting the radiologist who read the films is "overly cautious."He spoke to me like I am a moron and said "It takes 2 things to see - a brain and eyes." He berated me for not following up with an opthamologist even after I explained I was never instructed by him on how to do so or if I would still need to after my MRI. This man treated me like garbage. I can only hope he treats other patients differently, especially those not in a position to advocate for themselves. I also overheard him berating a support staff person before entering the room for listing him as the referring provider on something - rudely remarking "I can't be the referring provider to myself." Please spend some time reviewing the yelp reviews and take some action. Referring folks to "patient relations" is not a solution or helpful to us patients. I saw Dr. Silva-Sayago while I was hospitalized with a stroke at Sutter. My main symptoms were word-finding, reading, and writing. It was an intense time. Dr. Silva was so kind to me I was moved. He came late in rounds and was obviously exhausted. Still, he came. He listened. He waited when I couldn't remember my words. He showed the scans of my brain so I could see what was happening. He was positive. Honestly, I have nothing but kind words to say. I have seen him once in the office since my stroke. I'm much better, we could talk more easily. I work with a speech therapist which is incredible helpful. Time will improve more and more. I highly recommend Dr. Silva-Sayago. read more

Dr. Silva-Sayago accurately diagnosed a condition that at least 3 other neurologists missed, and gave me exacting, practical advice about next steps - advice that has proven to be dead-on. He had memorized my chart before examining me and was entirely familiar with my history. He was extraordinarily alert, caring, patient, and tuned in during our visits, and he gave me all the time I needed even though we went over the scheduled time. Dr. Silva Sayago has been incredibly helpful to me dealing with difficult issues. He has been patient, thoughtful and respectful. When other doctors would always seem to be in a rush, and never have time to explain anything to me, he took the time, pulled up images of an MRI (which he had ordered, although really the doctors I had originally seen should have done it) and showed me on it the structures in my body that had been injured, and explained what the MRI showed and what it didn't. Using a model he explained the anatomy to me. I left his office feeling so relieved I almost was in tears. It's rare to find a doctor who combines skill and compassion. I have seen Dr. Silva-Sayago for five visits thus far and find him to be one of the best doctors with whom I have ever worked. It's important to state that I have a very complicated spinal condition with chronic pain in my low back, hips and legs that often becomes acute and disabling. I have spent over 20 years seeing numerous doctors, PTs, acupuncturists, and chiropractors seeking help with pain relief and pain management. Dr. Silva is one of two doctors whom I rate with 5 stars for competence, empathy, listening ability, overall communication, and caring concern. I find him incredibly knowledgeable from multiple disciplines (many of which I recognize from years of treatments). My pain is gradually lessening and with each change, even if minor, he recommends additional exercises or specific kinds of PT that are in sync with the changes from his treatments. I have been seeing Dr. Antonio Silva for several years now for my migraines. Not only are my migraines under control for the first time in my life, Dr. Silva treats me as a person (not some number) and he treats my whole person. He has helped me with my sleep problems, restless legs, etc. He is truly a kind and concerned doctor who is willing to take the time to listen to you and address any and all concerns you have. He doesn't just prescribe a medication and send you on your way. He suggests medications and discusses with you all pros and cons to taking it. I feel very involved in decisions made for my health. Two indicators that this individual tarnishes the sacred oath of being a physician...arrogant/condescending attitude and erroneous diagnoses. Fortunately, my parent is a retired molecular biologist and can identify a medical fraud immediately. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, we discussed our concerns with the GP. We were immediately informed that he has a consistent complaint record and were encouraged to submit a written account of the misconduct. I'm an ICU nurse I haven't seen this doctor or work with this doctor personally. yesterday, I have a patient who was seen by neurologist and family want to to talk they have very important concerns. I contacted the neurologist who saw the pt previously but their office told me that the Dr was off but Dr Silva was the on call and He's the one looking after the patient. He was paged by their office, I got a call back from him after almost an hour. He sound pissed off and told me He can't finished his job because I keep calling him. He was not willing to talk to the family and says he would be in our hospital after 2pm. Then it was 3pm family came back to me and said, can you pls check if neurologist was still coming they waited they've been on the room for 6 hours, we call the office, was informed that he was in the hospital he was paged he called a 3:30 PM, His tone was not pleasant at all very rude, I said Dr Silva, the family of pt --------- was still here hoping to talk to you I have called you because they were requesting they just want to know ................ Then he cut back and said "is it my fault if they waited there? What do you want me to do I'm seeing 4 patient! What do you want me to do? Drop all my other patients?!!!! ( sarcastic angry tone of voice) We'll all I can say with this encounter with him! It leaves a very nasty impression, even how intelligent or how experienced someone is if your attitude were like that. It basically leave you to zero- rating. I am changing my original assessment. We went back for a follow up with this doctor. He determined that my mother did not have any signs of dementia or Alzheimer's. I knew something was terribly wrong and requested a second opinion. He seemed very offended at this request and gave us a referral to someone in San Francisco that had a month's long wait list. Come to find out that this doctor does not see elderly patients - my mom is 83. Because Dr. Silva- Sayago said she showed no signs of dementia or Alzheimer's, my mother stopped taking the medication originally prescribed. Fast forward a year and a half and I was finally able to drag my mom back to a neurologist for a second appointment. The second doctor ordered an MRI and low and behold, she has Alzheimer's. I can't help but wonder how much her decline would have been assuaged if we had caught it earlier and had her on medication for the last 18 months. read more

He falsified statements I made and wrote that he did a physical exam (he did not). He stated that he "counseled" me for 45 minutes. I'm a psychotherapist. He's a neurologist. He did no such thing. He spent 15 minutes berating me, falsified his clinical notes, and did not do any physical exam despite his claims. This a dangerously depraved doctor. Avoid him at all costs. His report prevented me from getting the care I've needed and I am now heading to Mayo Clinic for untreated neurological symptoms. read more

I would give 0 stars if allowed. I saw dr. silva today. Within the first 30'seconds of meeting him and begin to discuss my illness, he cuts me off and gives me this arrogant cold tone. He didn't want to hear about my "headache" that I associated with my twitching eye... After a few basic questions about my body twitch/spasms... The whole time giving me this blatant feeling of not caring about what I had to say. He asked about my "headache". Thinking to myself, that's funny.. You didn't want to hear about it now all of a sudden your'e concerned. He goes on saying that I didn't understand what a headache was. When questioning about any loss in strength, he goes on to say I did not know what that meant either... When describing my twitching/tingling sensation throughout my body, he acted as if I was exaggerating. After about 5 minutes listening to this guy, I just stopped and flat out told him that I'm getting this weird vibe from him and wondered if he wanted to help me... He asked me if I have ever seen a doctor before? Really? He jumps out of his chair, slams my test results packet he received from my Primary Doctor and storms out of the room and tells Me to "wait right there!". I proceed to follow him and let him know how unprofessional he was and told him to go home if he was having a bad day because that was no way to treat me, a patient. Very unprofessional to say the least. This guys needs his license revoked and should consider to start a new career. People seek help from professionals because there is a health issue that needs to be addressed. They don't need to leave the dr's office with stress on the account of how the doctor treats them. read more
