She always runs late for appointments (seriously, usually an hour or so). But she is well-worth the wait. She runs late for appointments because she actually spends time listening to you and talking with you. She never rushes you and will spend an hour with you if needed. She will never make you feel rushed. She is proactive on treatment of anything and also a registered nutritionist. She will never say "well, let's see if your leg falls off first before we do something". She knows your history, will take action when needed, and also give you a reality check even if uncomfortable. I am seriously dreading the day when I move away from Pittsburgh and have to find another PCP, because none have ever or will ever be as great as Dr. March. The book called: A BRAVE LITTLE HEART: Autumn's story - by: Erica Hamilton…read more A heart transplant is surgery to remove a damaged or diseased heart and replace it with a healthy donor heart. Finding a donor heart can be difficult. The heart must be donated by someone who is brain-dead but is still on life support. The donor heart must be matched as closely as possible to your tissue type to reduce the chance that your body will reject it. For the family it was a very emotional and hard situation to face this ordeal, because Autumn is a little child and she doesn't know any different. She is sitting there with all kinds of tubes, waiting for surgery and she's smiling, only a child can do that. Kids always have a great smile on their face. I have always been amazed at how well she has recovered. Autumn was so brave while she was in the hospital and having such a positive attitude ...The coolest thing that I've noticed, is that Autumn had such a huge heart: she is so caring, it's amazing. Autumn went home on February 21, 2013, and is growing up into a perfectly healthy child. I am an off duty EMT (Emergency Technician) from NYC and PA but I have also worked in the heath care field since 1998 as a practical nurse. I am from Finland (from: North Pole where the Santa Claus comes from and lives). I have been in the USA past ten years. Until today there are things that amaze me no matter how much experience I have and that is why I love your story. You are such a strong little soul - with an amazing attitude towards this big world and the life which is warmly surrounding you. I love children. I went to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake and I saw many little children there, so I hugged them and talked to them and what was amazing for me was those beautiful smiles on their faces. Children are all the same where ever you go. I would like to share a photo from Haiti FOR YOU - this little girl is three years old and she would not let me go for four hours. The truth is that I did not know what to do because I had to care for others also, not only her. That was the funny part ! This world and your beautiful family gave you a beautiful gift that has no words for to express it, your HEART! Cherish it and keep it in a good health no matter how old you are. This heart also called an organ is going to keep you alive until end of your beautiful days ... and that HEART will be your best friend in many situations for many years: when you smile, when you cry, when you feel warm, when you feel cold, when you feel lonely, when you feel in love or loved. This heart has a big responsibility to keep you alive in your tiny body. This heart also has amazing strength to get bigger and stronger and it does LOVE YOU so. I am happy to write the letter for you because I heard that you like to get mail - so I am trying to put a BIG smile on your face and make your 'new friend', the HEART, HAPPY ! I would love it if you have a time to draw me a picture of you and your 'new friend', your heart. I would also love to receive a letter from you when you feel stronger and have a time to respond to this letter. We all are united in this world and life is beautiful. We all have bad moments in our lives but the good part is that they never last forever because our HEART is working hard to do the right JOB. I wish you all the best and strength towards the road to recovery with your new friend!
