I drove back the 20 minutes it took to get there and when I asked about the Mac and cheese and they told me they were all out despite Uber saying they were in stock and me paying the extra money for it. I was about to leave when I realized they didn't even give me the sauces I'd paid for as well, and it was only until I got home the second time and sat down to finally eat that I realized they only gave me two tenders instead of the three I paid for in each box. It didn't help that the people running the truck didn't speak any English. Needless to say, I'm not ordering from here again, and I'm doing what I can to get the money back for the missing food.

Anytime I'm in North Houston, I make it my business to stop by The Better Box. Since moving here,…read morethis has been my most consistent favorite spot--no question. And every single time, I order the exact same thing. The sampler egg rolls? Elite. The standout egg rolls? Always the crab and shrimp. This time, on my way to the airport, they were out of crab, so I went with its substitute (crawfish and shrimp) instead. Still just as good. Honestly, it's a treat for me because, yes, three egg rolls total about $21, but they're more than worth it--hearty, packed full, always fresh. And the different sauces? That's just the icing on the cake. This time around, my friend and her son ordered fries and a Philly cheesesteak. The fries? Crispy and perfectly seasoned. And the Philly? Hands down, the best rendition of a cheesesteak I've had south of Pennsylvania. I will continue to sing the praises of The Better Box. The quality is consistent. The taste is consistent. And no matter where I am in Houston, it's always worth the drive. Plus, the wait is never long! This time it only took 10 minutes to receive our food.

After waiting years for their Gessner Road location to open, I finally gave up and dined here at…read moretheir original location for a meal recently. I found out that the Gessner Road location was supposed to be a seafood restaurant but then that idea was scrapped and that location has been sold, This location across from Willowbrook Mall on the Hwy 249 frontage road has plenty of parking in its standalone building and is festively decorated both inside and out. After being seated inside in this large restaurant I chose fajitas with chicken for my meal and I chose the corn tortillas over the flour ones ($19). First to arrive were complimentary chips and 2 salsas, red and green. The green guacamole based salsa was very good. The red salsa was like soup broth in consistency and the only content in the broth were some pieces of onion. Strange. The broth was ok tasting but would have been better with a little more thickness at least. I have never had salsa that thin and soupy before. Shortly after the entree arrived on a sizzling platter. I liked the amount of chicken and onions on the platter as it was a generous amount. I started with the charro beans which were good tasting (3.5) and then continued with the chicken, pico, guac and tortillas. I enjoyed this food as the chicken was both tender and flavorful with the grilled onions adding to it all. I had 4 corn tortillas and my only wish would have been for a little bit more of pico de gallo and guac on the plate. Table service was very good. I enjoyed my visit and would be happy to return. I was later told by the hostess that El Refu makes its salsas fresh and sometimes the red comes out soupy and other times has more consistency to it. Mine was too soupy and probably shouldn't have been served.

So here I am second day in a row walking into Smart Daddy's! My sister wanted pizza for family…read moredinner and I absolutely refuse to order from the place my mom likes cause well... it's nasty tasting. Anyway I warned the guy the night before I'd be back. We decided on the XL Florentine pizza. I decided I'd better snap a pic before I left the parking lot (it smelled that good!) then decided I better not or they'd be eating whatever they could find! It was absolutely delicious! And cooked to perfection! Served on a thin crust so's not too overpower the taste of the other toppings, which were proportioned in the same manner. Delicious sun dried tomatoes (that the other two were lucky to get any of!) fresh baby spinach, Alfredo sauce, fresh chunked chicken, artichoke hearts and fresh garlic. It's like they were speaking to my berry soul when they made this pie. And as I ate my second piece, which are really big, it tasted like it. After every one was done, I stood there looking at the two remaining pieces and I swear on every taste bud in my mouth,I could hear them say... "go ahead, do it you know you want too" Everyone should experience a pizza like that. And here is the place to get it! It's not fancy, but it's clean number one on my list in a place that makes food. They do have a small dine in area with about 5 tables. And you don't have to worry about parking as there is more than enough of that! The owners are awesome and remember you after a couple of time coming in. And they have something for everyone. They even have vegetarian options. Oh two last things before I close this tome of a review. They serve breakfast too! Mexican breakfasts.... can you say Chorizo con Huevo and real Mexican Coke be still my beating heart! We asked the cashier what their most popular wings and sauces were, but he said he didn't know. It seemed like he didn't really want to help or be there. We still decided to order, and then we asked for drinks. He told us they didn't have any drinks, and then said they didn't even have napkins. What kind of food business doesn't have drinks or napkins available, especially in Houston when it's 90 degrees outside? After about 10 minutes, we received our wings in different flavors: Spicy BBQ, Hot Lemon Pepper, and Hot Spicy. By the time we got home, the wings were already cold. We reheated them in the microwave, but they turned hard and chewy. We spent $30 for nothing. I would give this place zero stars for the food, customer service, and overall experience. It was our first time visiting, and it will definitely be our last. So disappointing!
