    Pupusa & gordita
    Elizabeth S.

Yummy and cheap El Salvadorian food on Moody St! (They also have several typical Mexican dishes). This place focuses on breakfast and lunch, opening early (7am) and closing midday (2pm). We like to come here for the pupusas and gorditas. Both are very well made and fresh. The pupusa choices are either cheese & carnitas or cheese & loroco (herbs). Both are great options. They come with a little baggie of dressed cabbage and a small serving of hot sauce, both customarily served with the dish. The gordita comes with lettuce, tomato, beans, and your meat of choice. We typically fill up on one pupusa and gordita, which ends up being just over $5 per person! Tips: This place is cash only, but they do have an ATM inside. Pupusas are handmade, so they take a little longer to come out, so keep that in mind. There is a paid parking lot around the corner of the restaurant. $1 gives you 2 hr.

I just had a very tasty adobado taco here cooked expertly. Unfortunately I had two chocolate chip cookies from moodys provision before entering and feel quite full. Because this taco is very comforting. No frills place with reasonable prices and latin american restaurant staples.

Where is the cheese? Cost me $9.63 at $2.50 per taco plus about $2 for a sprinkle of cheese? What a rip off! Not going back for bland tacos!

Looks authentic but very bland tacos. Had one beef, one chicken, and one pork. Each taco coated $2.50 each but with the cost of added cheese... it totaled $9.63. Look at the picture... where is the cheese? First complaint is that its MEH and secondly, what a rip off. Thanks for the sprinkle of nothing. The rating of 4 stars brought me in... but it's my 2 star rating that'll keep me from coming back. Oh FYI.... this place is cash only.

Tiny little "hole in the wall" for Guatemalan and Salvadoran food. Small but excellent menu. Everything is prepared to order and comes out piping hot! Highly recommend pork tacos, carne asada, and pupusas. They make their own hot sauce with habaneros and it is insanely hot, and so so good! They speak very little English but are extremely friendly. Cash only though there is an ATM on site.

Small little place that I had no clue was so close to me! I got the chicken Gorditas and my boyfriend got the beef ones. The food was very simple but good. Going back I would stick to the beef Gorditas however because they had more flavor. Everyone has even talking about the pupusas. I was interested to try them but wasn't exactly sure what it is? Prices were pretty reasonable and service was pleasant. Food too a little longer than expected but you could see the woman in the back making the tortillas from scratch. I would definitely go back to see what other food is available. I'm sure my boyfriend wouldn't object to that plan!

If you're looking for authentic, small restaurant to get a real taste of Latin flavor, you'll definitely enjoy Antojito's! They only accept cash but there's an ATM located conveniently inside so don't let that scare you away. On the menu, there's a ton of delicious items but I always recommend going for the pupusas! You can get cheese only if you're not feeling too adventurous or (my favorite) revuelta with pork and cheese. And don't be shy, add the cabbage and red tomato sauce on top then pick it up (with your hands) and enjoy. The only thing that gets a bit disappointing about the eating experience is that they don't offer any desserts. But, you can always order one of their delicious orchard drinks (rice milk + cinnamon) to satisfy your sweet tooth.

We were recommended by a friend to try this place since their food is apparently pretty good in Waltham, so we gave it a try. I was really looking forward to trying, but there were a lot of bad impressions accumulated towards the end of our visit. 1. When we arrived, there were only 2 wait staff, so it took about 5 minutes for them to seat us. We just thought maybe it's just a small run business, so nothing too big of a deal. 2. When we decided what to get, no one checked in with us and even with us trying to get their attention, it took about 10 minutes for us to place our order. Maybe it's just that they don't have enough staff today, but there also weren't that many customers.. 3. The food took 20 minutes to come for our table of 2, so by now we've been in here for over half an hour! Food is again good. The only noticeable thing is the black burnt marks on the birria, which had a sour bitter taste to it. 4. When we paid, we handed the credit card, which they processed on their tablet. As we waited to then select the tips and sign the tablet, they already MANUALLY SELECTED 25% TIPS WITHOUT TELLING US! I totally get it if their service was top notch to the point where they deserve a fourth of our dinner cost, BUT THIS WAS NOT THE CASE!! If we didn't ask for the receipt, we wouldn't even know that they frauded us! If you have enough money for them to select the tips for you, as you gamble on their service quality, then sure give it a try. But I'm not coming back for a business that tries to steal my money via tips!

** Updating previous review with more tapas rankings **…read more Yuca Frita (9.5/10): These are so freaking delicious, wow. The cilantro aioli was an amazing dipping sauce. They really are fried to perfection. Frituras de Maiz: (10/10): Wow, these fritters are also amazing. They come with such a rich sauce. The fritters are exploding with flavor. Cazuela de Coliflor Asada (9/10): Insanely good dish. The cauliflower has perfect texture, complemented by the pistachios. The sauce is SO good. The cauliflower soaks it up so well. Chicharrones (9/10): Melt in your mouth pork belly. The pork skin crust was perfect. The sauces really make most of the dishes here. This dish is no different - I loved the sauce. Ropa Vieja (9/10): Perfectly slow cooked meat. One thing that really stood out to me was actually the white rice. The rice was VERY high quality, and I appreciated it so much. It's rare to come by rice this good. It had the perfect texture, chew, and fragrance. Ropa Vieja de Hongos (9/10): Pretty much the same as Ropa Vieja above. The mushrooms are delicious, and the dish is just as good whether your order the mushroom or steak version. Empanada del Carne (9/10): Oh man, the crusts are so good. This is pretty on par with the ones I just had in Puerto Rico. Chuletas de Cordero (8/10): The seasoning is heavenly. I was licking the lamb chops clean. Croquetas (8/10): Very solid croquetas. Wouldn't say it's a must-order, but you can't go wrong with them. Costillas a la Guayaba (6/10): The first time I had this it was really nicely marinated, and the rib meat is so tender that it almost falls off the bone. The second time, the meat was dry. Maduros con Tocino (6.5/10): This dish was pretty good, but got overshadowed by the other ones. Pulpo (6.5/10): Octopus was tender and savory. The potatoes were too salty. Camarones a la Plancha (6.5/10): Solid dish, but I enjoyed some other ones even more. Ensalada de Aguacate y Pina (6/10): The salad was a bit too sour, and that sourness overpowered the dish. It was a great blend of ingredients, though. *** and one dessert *** Churros con Chocolate (8.5/10): Big crunchy fluffy churros!! The chocolate sauce is amazing (not really spicy at all). The service was a little spotty due to lack of staff. We had a group of 7 and ordered an initial batch of small plates to share across the table: empanadas, chickpeas, yuca fries, octopus, and fried squash blossoms. We had some dietary restrictions in the group so it was important to know what each dish was so that person could avoid some of the small plates. We couldn't figure out what the squash blossoms or octopus dishes were until someone tasted them. Each small plates has enough to serve 2-3 people - so if you have a large group like us, then you need to order at least 2 of every small plate to share across the table. The empanada was simply a small chicken empanada and the taco was some sort of braised pork in a thin tostone instead of a corn tortilla. Both were nice looking, but just standard fare. For me the fried squash blossoms were the best - after we figured out what they were. The service was spotty. After ordering the first round of small plates, it took a long time for the waiter to come back so we could order more. They also use food servers that can only deliver food to your table - the servers can't really explain the dishes or take orders for more small plates. For that - you need to wait for your waiter to make it back to your table. For 7 people, with a round of drinks at the table, shared desserts, and an automatic 20% tip for large parties (which is fine - I would have given them 20% anyway), the bill came out to be $560. They were very nice about splitting the bill 7-ways so each person could provide a credit card. The parking was easy with a big municipal lot behind the restaurant. My overall opinion is that it's a nice atmosphere, but the food under-achieved and the service could have been better.
