I wish I could give negative stars for how awful Antioch Animal Services is. Saturday April 23rd our neighbors aggressive dog which we have previously raised concerns with the owner, this dog broke our fence which you can see in the pictures that it was pushed from their side. The dog then took and mauled our puppy that we have had for 3 weeks, the sweetest most perfect puppy that was not the curious type to even mess with the fence. Animal Control eventually came after Antioch PD which they are great but the Animal Control Officer that came went directly to the neighbor and took their statement which I should mention they had a party and had their music blasted and they claimed that our 23lb puppy broke the fence and was in their yard and their dog had the right to kill her. They eventually came to us to take our statement and had already come to the conclusion that they would not take the neighbors dog. Pretty much telling us it was our puppies fault that she got killed. To add to this my boyfriend and I were in my room after everything happened only to hear our neighbors sister saying that she "punked" the animal control supervisor into letting them keep their dog which has had many other occasions which she has attacked other dogs. Since she was in their yard after getting dragged from our backyard it was not on them. This place has to be the absolute worst and does not care about your animals. They made us feel that it's okay for another dog to break your fence and take your puppy but since the dog took her to their side it's the puppies fault for being in her backyard walking along the fence line only to get taken and killed. They have to be the most unprofessional, incompetent, useless department.

This is when the first people caught him on delta..

Customer service is trash. How do you even call yourself a shelter, when you won't take in animals in the area. Meanwhile you guys are one of the only no kill shelters even close to my area all other no kill shelters are over a hour away. I know for a fact that if I send this dog to the contra costa animal shelter he will probably be euthanized. This happened a few years ago when someone dumped their dog (pit bull mix breeds) on Byron hwy or delta and the rescues won't even help either? Im starting to question if they just all profit off the donations and don't even help the ones most at risk for euthanasia. It's sad but because they're breed is known to have a bad reputation. It's not fair they get to pick and choose the ones they have space for. At least help them find they're owners. It's like y'all are scared of this breed. I'm honestly about to look into what I have to do to be official to help these animals most in need. I just washed this confused angel that I mostly believe was dumped and was wondering on DELTA RD people fly up and down the street I'm very lucky someone was able to keep him for the night while I got some stuff situated for him at my house in the morning. Just looking for his family or his forever home I did notice he's not doing the best just mostly napping and confused when waking up almost like he's not at his home makes me so mad and sad cruel people can do this. He definitely has some kind of skin condition usually this breed does I have the same issues with my dog. Usually the food can't have grain. He hasn't eaten since he's been with me hopefully that will change.

My son really wanted a pet for his birthday as he suffer's from ADHD and could use a companion. After a little research, I came across Antioch Animal Services. My son and I took a trip to their location and a cat name Winter immediately caught our eye. Winter reached his little arm out to us and we knew he would make a great addition to our family. After meeting Winter and getting a chance to know him, we were able to adopt him the same day. Needless to say, we were right. Winter is an awesome addition to our family. He's so warm, cuddly and gentle. My son loves Winter and enjoys his new responsibilities! Thank you Antioch Animal Services for your dedication to helping us find such a great addition to our family. Everyone at Antioch Animal Services were nice, knowledgeable, patient and super kind. Also, the location was easy to find and clean inside. Thank you!

This is pharaoh. He is doing great and is getting all the love he deserves. Thank you Antioch Animal Services!!

I had a great experience with Antioch Animal Shelter. I adopted a 5-6 month old cat named Pharaoh and the staff were really great and helpful. The cat was well taken care of and had all his shots and was neutered before we got him. They also said he may have an upper respiratory infection and if I see any signs of one, I can just come back and get meds. This staff is great and know when someone is going to give an animal a great home.

Had a wonderful experience getting our 1 year old kitty Callie (originally Glamazon wth haha) from here. During the month of October all fees were waved I guess because the shelters were full so we wanted to save a life. We originally were in Martinez where we became so frustrated at the rude treatment we had to leave. Thank God we decided to come here! It is a small shelter with a wonderful staff. This pretty grey kitty nudged the cage and connected with my son instantly. We were given ample time to spend in a room with her and even our children were allowed ( they weren't in the previous place.) The lady helping ( forget her name! Short blond hair) was very sweet to us and our children. They got us out quickly with our new family member. We've had her for a month now and she is the sweetest, most easy going cat-perfect for our small children.Thank you Antioch Animal Shelter!

I adopted my first beloved pet from this facility 4 years ago. She was spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped and licensed all at once. according to the staff My puppy at the time was abused and surrendered by her previous owners with her siblings and mom and dad who were brother and sister. The staff they have down there are amazing including all the office pets behind the counter. With all the city budget cuts and furlough closure's this shelter goes to adoption events, awareness events educates our young girls and boys scout troops and finds time to host their own events at the small shelter. I encourage people in our community Antioch or other cities to come help and support this little shelter and keep making it better and better.

Adopted now Nikki from here and she has quickly become a part of our family!

No I didn't probably put enough details in it, but I still should have got a little bit of compassion. Yes, my cat is semi ferrel, I took a chance and adopted her this way and the organization that I adopted from lied to me because I found out there was more issues with her then they told me about and I didn't return her. I got her training and it still didn't work. I do love her dispite her behavior, that's why I didn't just open my door and let her go run free when no one will help. I have no electricity in half of my apartmemt because of this fire, no heat, no where to go, and I am still living here and trying to do right by my animals. This situation has stressed out my animals as much as it has stressed me out. Whats stressing me out is my animals may be suffering right now and I reach out for help and I get a nasty response from this organization and many more like them. If I had somebody to turn to so my babies are not suffering I would go to them instead of reaching out to a complete stranger. Hope and pray you never have a fire in your home and your fur babies have nowhere to go because these organizations that claim they help don't. If you can't help Then just tell me that instead of having a crappy response to me reaching out for help.

We need more rescues however this one is not here for the interest of truly helping animals and doing the right thing. Purely disgusting. The Vice President's behavior is all on video and very disturbing - poor animals!

If you're looking for cats, go to Pet Food Express at Slatten Ranch on Saturdays from 12-3. or Pittsburg Petsmart on Sundays from 12-3. They have different kinds of cats and kittens with different shapes and colors just waiting to be loved. After a short screening application, your new friend is yours! Cats and kittens have an adoption fee of $100. If you're looking for dogs, they don't bring them on site. Instead, they're all at a foster house in Brentwood. Man, I've never seen so many dogs in one place! Small and big dogs alike! You can tell they're well taken cared of at Joy's house. Usually you can just sit there, observe all their personalities, and pick from there. I'm sure one will steal your heart like my Wyatt has. Dogs and puppies adoption fees range from $125-$300, depending on age, special needs, purity of breed, etc. Email joysdogs@gmail.com or call 925 473-4642 to make an appt. Her mom adopted the sweetest chihuahua from Arf back in 2021, the fur baby went blind about a year ago. So we were really concerned about how she would settle in a new environment, and we're trying to rehome the dog I went to Joybound a few weeks ago to ask if there was any chance they take back their animals in these circumstances. The woman at the welcome desk was so helpful explaining yes they do. She walked me thru the process to fill out the forms online They got back to my friend promptly to setup an appointment for a behavior assessment and vet evaluation. We had our appointment yesterday at 2. We arrived a half hour early so we wouldn't be rushed , and to help Lily stay as calm as possible. Everyone we encountered was delightful and so kind. No judgements- Lily came alive with tail wags and enthusiasm to be back at such a supportive rescue group. She was just basking in the attention and love. She passed her behavior test with flying colors. We were told she most likely will be going to a foster home first for a few weeks before she's available for adoption. We were told we can follow her online with her name, and see when she becomes available and she won't be on the website anymore once she finds her next loving home. Thank you Joybound for standing behind your animals and supporting families We also did not have to pay a surrender fee. We were encouraged to take our time and enjoy complementary coffee or tea, also offered a box of tissues We were already pulling out of the parking lot before our scheduled appointment time Can't think you enough for your kindness all around this hard experience

He ran a blood test and found that her blood glucose level was low, which was the reason for her seizures. He ensured she was hydrated and kept her there for the entire day. Dr. Sandhu explained everything he would be doing and was always professional; he truly cared about Harley's well-being. When it was time to pick her up, Harley looked better, but by that time, Dr. Sandhu had already left for the day. Dr. Navreen was the one who released Harley, and she seemed unaware of what was happening. I asked her what I should do if Harley has another seizure, and she appeared surprised, as if she didn't know what to advise. Eventually, she told me to take Harley to the emergency clinic. I explained that I had already paid this vet $1,190, so I wouldn't be able to afford the emergency care. She paused, seemingly uncertain about what I should do next. I then asked if I could have some medication in case of an emergency, and she gave me some meds. A month later, I brought my other puppy, Chip, to this vet when he was almost a month old. He was constipated, which led to dehydration and a drop in his blood glucose level. Dr. Navreen was the doctor who attended to Chip. I explained the situation to her, but she didn't seem to care about what I was saying. I asked if she would give Chip medication because I was aware his blood glucose levels were low. She waited at least 7 to 10 minutes before taking him to the back to administer the medication. Six minutes later, she came out and told me that my puppy had passed away before they could do anything. I asked her what had happened, and she mentioned that she was going to take a blood sample from the vein in his neck. When she returned Chip to me, I noticed he smelled like rubbing alcohol, which the vet tech later said they applied to his neck. However, it also smelled like it was in his mouth. I questioned how she was going to perform the blood test since the area on his neck hadn't been shaved. I cannot recommend Dr. Navreen; she is unprofessional and does not care about pets. However, I do highly recommend Dr. Sandhu for his dedication and care. Dr. Navreen does not need to work with any pets her energy is negative. She killed my puppy. I pray she sees my review.
