    Drippin' Towin' Service

Trust Rick to help you with your towing needs; I can't recommend him highly enough…read more What follows is my somewhat lengthy explanation of why I am comfortable saying that... It was Friday afternoon at about 6PM. I was on my way home to Johnson City from Austin. My truck died in the drive-through lane at the bank in Dripping Springs. Nothing electrical worked - I suspected that my alternator or voltage regulator had gone out. I had to get my truck out of the drive-through, so I decided to call a wrecker. I knew that calling a wrecker in Austin would cost me a bundle. There aren't many to choose from in Dripping Springs, but I found Drippin' Towin' via Google and called them. He said that he was finishing up some work and would be there within the hour. As I waited, I decided that I might be able to make it to Johnson City even with the dead alternator, provided I had a new fully-charged battery. But the only chance of this working relied upon me getting a battery quickly and getting on the road -- if I waited until dark and had to use headlights, there was no way I'd make it to Johnson City. I spoke with Rick again and told him my plan. I also said that if I had the truck running before he got there, that I'd probably go ahead and take off, but that I'd call him and give him my credit card number to pay for the call -- I wasn't going to stand him up. My dog and I walked the half-mile down to the auto parts store and bought a battery. A guy in the parking lot gave us and the battery a ride back to the bank. I installed the new battery and the truck fired right up. I knew that the truck couldn't run for long on just the battery's charge (with no help from the alternator), so I hit the road. Rick pulled up just after I left. I called Rick again, explained things, and told him I wanted to go ahead and pay his towing fee. He refused to take my credit card information and simply asked that I keep him in mind if I ever need a tow again. I must have asked him half a dozen times to let me pay him, but he wouldn't budge. In my opinion, a large part of a towing service's job is simply to show up when they say they will -- reliability is crucial. I don't want to find out an hour or two after I called that they have been "delayed", or worse, that they can't make it. Rick scores 10/10 on reliability -- he was there in less than an hour. While I know a fair amount about cars, many people don't. This is where honesty and integrity come into play. Rick is clearly an honest and fair guy; I don't think he's the type of operator that would take advantage of someone in a difficult situation. Rick scores 10/10 on integrity. The only thing left is competence. Rick didn't get to tow my truck, so I can't score him on that. However, I'm more than willing to bet that he's a 10/10 here as well, especially since they've been in business 20+ years. If I can get reliability and integrity, I'm more than willing to assume that the competence is there.

The garage I called gave me JV's number for service. JV came in a reasonable amount of time with a modern rig and got my so-not-miniature sedan out of what looked to me to be an impossibly cramped parking spot. He did so very quickly and with complete confidence. He was friendly and professional, and even dropped me at home on the way. Since he wasn't sure if the lot would be open when he got there just after closing and knew the mechanics didn't have a key drop, he advised me to keep the key, double-check the car was locked when I hopped out at my house, and to drop the key off tomorrow to be safe. When I arrived the next day, my car was expertly parked within the security gates but I appreciated the advice. I got a discount since I'd been referred by the garage. Truth is I would pay full price to hire him on my own. He's marvelous.

They driver was polite, knowledgeable, and fast. He made everything look easy. He pushed my Jeep out of the parking spot and loaded it. He allowed me to drive ahead to the auto repair shop while he finished locking the Jeep down. So I was able to talk to the auto repair guys and have them ready. He unloaded it and was professional in telling me how to pay him. Awesome I highly recommend them and saved their contact in my phone. Thank you.
