I grew up on Long Island, where pizza is a way of life and excellent pizza is the expectation. I love Anthony's Pizza. The ratio of cheese to sauce is just right. The crusts are beautifully formed and baked. I've had their calzones as well and they are equal to anything I ever had from my childhood and youth. Anthony's has the touch. It's the real deal. On top of it, the service is friendly, welcoming, cheerful, and prompt. Anthony's is as close to New York pizza as I've come across over the years. If you like that style of pizza, please visit. Greeted as we walked through the door by all the staff. We stopped by for a quick lunch and no intention of writing a review. The Cheeseburger sun was well prepared. The toasted bun and creamy cheese added to a good bite. J had the cheesesteak minus peppers and tomatoes with a side of onion rings. BIG rings of real onions with a thin but crunchy coating. Anthony's pizza in Front Royal is the ABSOLUTE BEST. I'm on week 4 of crutches and no work, but since it's my left leg, I drove into town to get dinner tonight. They must have seen me coming thru the window, trying to haul my crutches outta the car came running out to open doors for me! Then insisted, if I wanted, they'd be happy to bring my order out. Anyway, long story short, I wound up in a 20 minute conversation with the lead cook about how miserable it's been, locked outta my kitchen. (I'm a cook, off work, and bored out of my skull) And not to mention- my dinner was amazing!!! I know a lot of front royalians (front roilers?) swear by melting pot, but y'all are missing out! After a long day of driving and hiking, we asked our son and heir what he wanted for supper. Pizza was the request, so pizza was the destination. I was reading the reviews for Melting Pot Pizza and one mentioned that they're cash-only, so we decided to try Anthony's instead. We started with drinks- 2 sweet teas and a root beer. Ordered the cheese garlic bread appetizer. It was pretty straightforward- most of a hoagie roll toasted with garlic butter, and covered with cheese. Tasty stuff, that. But if I'd realized how much food was yet to come, I would not have ordered it. The Boy ordered a small Meat Lover's Stromboli. He could only eat half of it initially. This, in and of itself, is astonishing. Darling Bride and I decided that we would split a medium Dough Boy pizza - a thicker crust topped with steak, fried onions, cheddar, and mozzarella. DB described it as "like a cheesesteak on a pizza." The crust was crisp on the bottom, but still nice and doughy. I almost think I'd have preferred it on a regular crust, though. The thick was too much food! The sauce was delicious - neither too acid nor sweet. The steak was cheesesteak style- thin and cooked to chewy perfection. The cheeses melted and sort of marbled together nicely. If you're in the Luray/Front Royal area, I highly recommend Anthony's! Our server, Starry, was knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. We were told 40 minute delivery, it was over an hour. We ordered the cheese lovers. It didn't have sauce and called to ask but they said that was normal? I couldn't find anything in the menu to indicate the cheese lover would be without sauce(maybe I am missing something??) has to be a 2/5. I have had in the past and it was definitely more like 4/5 but today would have been 0 on its own, bummer! We will try again in the future. read more

I'm not going to lie. I was very skeptical in ordering from here because the town favorite, melting pot pizza, got so many positive reviews and I was not a fan. A true test of good pizza is that it's still good for breakfast the next day cold. My good friend the Walrus was eating Anthony's pizza cold in the morning and offered me a piece. It was good and I began to imagine how good it could be when it's hot off the oven. I got the 5.99 large cheese pizza special on Thursday with fried pickles. I am a fan of the fried pickles because where I come from they are only the chips. Anthony's serves up a quarter of the pickle. It was good but had a little too much breading. Front Royal Brewing had better. The pizza was really good and probably could have been better if I would have known the crust would be crunchy. I am not a fan of crunchy crust, I prefer it to be a little bit on the doughy side. The pizza tasted fresh and was not greasy at all. Good job Anthony's! Definitely the best pizza in Front Royal, VA. The service was outstanding. They had three different people taking phone orders and working the cash registers. They had a plethora of other workers in the kitchen working hard. We has lunch here on Friday and the place was slow. We ordered a large Pizza and a Steak & cheese sub with onions. One one fountian drink and it was $36.00 dollars. If it were possible to rate this restaurant zero stars I would. I've never personally ordered their "food" but I have tried it before at a friends house and it was TERRIBLE! The event today solidified the fact that I will never order from this restaurant and will urge my friends and family to order from elsewhere if they are thinking of ordering from here. While I was working today my non English speaking house guests answered the door and accepted an order from Anthony's thinking I had ordered them lunch. The address on the receipt matched mine so they signed and immediately called me to make sure I had ordered. I told them no and that I would call the number on the receipt to let the woman know we had received her order by accident. She said she would contact the restaurant. A few minutes later she called me back and said that Anthony's wouldn't refund the charge for the food she DIDNT RECEIVE because it had been signed for. Anthony's reached out to me as well seeking payment for an order that was delivered to my house by THEIR mistake. When I expressed that I didn't feel I or the person who ordered the food should be responsible for paying for THEIR mistake they threatened to call the police over a $35 order. In the end I paid the $35 to get the poor woman who ordered off the hook and now I'm left with a pile of garbage food no one wants to eat. Way to go Anthony's pizza. Your management is terrible and instead of just copping up to the mistake you ruined two separate households day. read more

Every time I travel North, I stop there and also stop on the way back. I stopped in this afternoon and ordered a large Caesar salad as I typically do so I'm very accustomed to how it comes. When I walked in, only 2 of the approximately 8 people working inside were wearing masks but I decided to order anyway (typically I would just walk out) and asked the owner - who also wasn't wearing a mask why his employees weren't masked up. He told me that they were all vaccinated and so I kindly told him that even if you are vaccinated you are supposed to wear a mask indoors. He then promptly put on a mask as well as his employees and thanked me for sharing the knowledge. While I was driving home I realized that my large salad was barely full, the garlic bread that comes with it was cold and underdone (it's typically served warm) and on my ticket my name was labeled as "Moron". I called the owner and he did offer to remake my order but the unprofessionalism was absolutely uncalled for and I can't help but be led to believe that this wouldn't have happened had I not asked them why they weren't wearing masks. You can also see that this establishment has NUMEROUS health code violations. read more

The pizza was average. The only problem we had was that they were taking forever to take our order. When we got there they asked if we were dining in, we said yes so the lady told us to sit down. People kept coming in and ordering and nobody was coming to our table to take our order. My husband got frustrated so he when and told them but they had a little bit of an attitude. Anthony the tall guy with the glasses came to our table to apologize and take our order right away. Very polite guy who made us feel comfortable again because we were very close to leave and take our business somewhere else. We later learned he is a new guy. Usually pretty good but don't bother dining in if they are busy. The cashier wouldn't take my order and told me to have a seat. The waitress took 15 minutes to come ask if I needed a menu. When she brought me a menu she asked if I wanted something to drink. 5 minutes later I saw her taking orders from the only other people seated but I still had no drink. Food was alright.... Had a very cheap pizza on Thursday nights, $4 large pizza! Can't beat that right! PLUS, we live on blue mountain and NO ONE delivers here. We called Anthony's. asked if they delvered, they did! and at no charge! We were phsyced and ordered from them all the time! We gave our delivery guy a HUGE TIP! Even though we only live about 7 miles (if that) from there. Everyone makes a big deal about delivering to us. So we were happy to have a pizza place that delivered! Until.... one time, we noticed we were over charged by about $5, called up, and I was informed that we were charged, and had always been charged a delivery fee for living "so far away" ( Don't ask how we missed it before) I was irate! Not at the charge, but the fact that we point blank asked and were told there was no charge, and on top of that we gave the delivery guy a huge tip! Recently my family wanted pizza for dinner and we were happy to remember that it was a Thursday which meant $4 pizzas. We ordered 5 pizzas 3 with extra cheese and 2 regular cheese and double cut. I called at 450pm and asked that my order be ready at 6pm since I was commuting home from work in DC and would be in town right at 6pm. When I pulled into the Anthony's parking lot at 5:55pm and went into the store I was greeted right away. The girl behind the counter asked me my name I told her and she said "Oh you have 5 pizzas it'll be ready in 5 mins they are putting your order together now" Would you believe at 6pm I was paid and pizzas in hand walking out the door. I was so happy that they could accomodate me even though they were so busy. When I got home the pizzas were still hot and fresh. The extra cheese pizzas had ALOT OF EXTRA CHEESE on them and we were in heaven they were perfect. Just another experience at Anthony's I am happy to share. The reason I am giving 5* is because Thursday nights are there busiest nights and you can tell they are slammed the minute you walk in the door. Hey, I'm not sure what the other reviewers expect. Anthony's has several outlets that are quite the same, usually in strip malls, nothing fancy. Their menu is family italian. The usual basics. The pizza is very good, and the menu entrees are awesome. For about $8.50 I had chicken parmesan and salad. What I got was a decent side salad and TWO chicken breasts (not cutlets). I could only eat one, it was so big. I took the other home and made another meal of it. Same for my wife that had the eggplant parmesan. Some day I will be moving to Hedgesville WV and they have a location in Inwood I have already scoped out. We will definitely go there for our fix. I had the pizza from the downtown Martinsburg WV location and it was a great buy, I think about $5 for a large on Sunday-Monday-Tuesday. Now, when you have Anthony's, why bother with Dominoes and Pizza Hut? I hate the cardboard pizzas that come from chains. read more

The quality of this restaurant has deteriorated steadily since we started ordering from them in 2014. First strike, the lid that MELTED into the eggplant Parmesan. They requested a driver come out to collect it for inspection (as if we would/could make that up?) before sending out another. Second strike, hair on the pizza and the lettuce on the salad was brown. I decided to let it go, since we had such an issue with the last problem. Third strike, this evening. I ordered at quarter after five. I ordered two subs and a Sicilian which I am well aware takes 45 minutes to prepare, extending the delivery time. I called at 6:45, apparently the driver had left and we were his only delivery. Showed up at 7:06, without the Sicilian. Ugh...so, he was sent back (came back after getting lost, left again at 7:11) He arrived back at 7:48 (a much faster trip than the first time - it takes 16 minutes to go 7.3 miles according to Waze) with a "new" pizza because they had "thrown the other one away and made a new one". It was cold and looked like pizza does the next day when you pull it from the fridge to reheat. We called the restaurant and the woman who answered confirmed it was the same pizza. She offered us a credit but honestly, it is three strikes you're out for Anthony's. We don't appreciate the lie the driver told, that truly was the straw. We get things happen, but don't take advantage of our understanding and make us out to be fools. So Fox's Pizza it is. Bummer guys. read more

YAY! Finally found some edible pizza in Front Royal! We were pointed in another direction when we first moved here, with claims of it being "the BEST pizza EVER," and it was horrible! Seriously, seriously horrible! So, I was reluctant to even try Anthony's pizza, but man, I am so glad we gave them a shot. Their pizza is every bit as good as any pizza I've had in NY (where I'm originally from), though not quite exactly the same - maybe if we shipped in some water we could get it there? :) Their regular pizza is delish, but if you're extra hungry, wait the extra few minutes and order the Sicilian! Perfect flavor and crust-to-sauce-to-cheese ratio! To be fair, it was just slightly undercooked (soft on the bottom) in sections, but a few minutes in the oven at home fixed it right up! (But, trust me, it was still delicious even before this additional step!) Thank you, Anthony's Pizza ... for making a great pie out here in Front Royal! This place is average at best. The pizza is ordinary, if not a little "cardboardy". The sauce is different, not bad-different, but different. As mentioned before, if you catch them on a specials night (ex: Thursdays $4 pizza) then it is worth it, otherwise, I would prefer Melting Pot or even one of the chain pizza joints in town. The sandwiches are better than the pizzas luckily. They have good hot sandwiches, although nothing out of the ordinary, but they do know how to prepare and cook with basic, ordinary ingredients.
