Trees are not cheap, probably average for the area (we didn't look anywhere else because it was 8 o'clock at night). If you need a tree over $250 there are many to choose from, if you want something under $100 go elsewhere. The younger guy was very nice and helpful. The older guy, who I assume is Dave, seems knowledgeable but also grumpy and is not helpful. I walked up to the counter and started to ask him a question, I got as far as "hi, how much are..." when he answered his cell phone (without acknowledging me at all). The person on the other end (he put him on speaker) said he was sending a family by for a tree, they should be there around 8:50pm (they close at 9pm). Dave let our a long, loud, sigh and hung up. Other than eventually answering my question about pricing for the cute little reindeer, he didn't make eye contact or speak to us once during the entire sales transaction, other than stating the total due. Maybe he was having a rough day (holiday retail sales certainly isn't a beach club in Bali). But when I commented to my partner on how annoyed he seemed, he said, "He was the same last year, remember?". Seems a strange line of work for someone who seems to not like kids, dogs, or customers. (Maybe he's incognito spy Santa with an elaborate cover story?)

That said, I recently had a frustrating experience with a paint purchase. I bought 3 gallons of Cabot semi-solid stain in Oak Brown during a promotion--about $15 less per gallon than the other local paint supplier. I assumed the color would match the same brand and shade used during my 2023 remodel (leftover from my painter), but the result was quite different. Instead of a rich dark chocolate tone that matched my home's trim and fascia boards, the stain came out with lighter red-brown hues--more milk chocolate than expected. I brought the stain back to have it shaken again and asked the paint clerk for advice, but unfortunately the response was defensive and unhelpful. Lesson learned: when it comes to matching existing stain, go back to the original source and always do a test patch--especially for something as visible as a large deck. I'll continue shopping at this Ace for many things, but I'll be more cautious about stain and paint purchases in the future.

But, just go park down the ramp in the nearly empty lot across from Cox communications if you aren't loading big bags or heavy pottery.

I have had so many painful interactions in this store and it goes back decades. Today just prompted me to actually write a review and this one leaves a bad taste in my mouth for sure. I'm going to go ahead and leave off the phone call I made regarding the zero balance gift card that also lasted nearly an hour as it doesn't pertain to anything this store has done but it's a nice cherry to add to the story. The only people that I have consistently had a positive experience with are the Customer Service people, just inside the entrance. In addition, he also said that his nursery is NOT retail but wholesale! Alfredo, you obviously are ONE miserable human being and should really consider another job that does not include people. So I went into my pocket and bought five of these miniature little things in various beautiful colors and put together my own hanging arrangement. Then I took it home with me to live, not to die. I am over the moon. We are going to ride out into the sunset together, little plants. The staff is incredibly helpful.
