The already made arrangements can vary, depending upon who's at the helm. You can bring in your own containers and pay a fee for them to arrange it or have fun picking out things yourself. Westerlay Orchids is a must stop on my drive up the coast as the orchids are stunning and it's the biggest manufacturer/ grower of orchids I've ever seen. This shop is essentially a giant orchids warehouse and they also have pots, vases, some small decor / home goods, and stationary items. In the past I've purchased orchids here and I actually also love their watercolor cards that they sell near the register. The cards are beautiful and make for a really lovely addition to a gift as the cards are like art. The orchids here are visually stunning. They have all of the different orchid colors you could imagine - purple, pink, yellow, mauve and even blue! The orchids are better priced coming from the source but for me I struggle to keep orchids alive so I don't buy one every time I come just because it adds up when I can't keep them alive lol. I just really like this store because the flowers are beautiful and well priced compared to grocers or online flower shops. The staff here kind of keep to themselves, I can't say on my multiple trips here that anyone has ever been super friendly or attentive but maybe it's nice that they just let you browse amongst ourselves, sometimes that can be preferred. All in all I really love this store when driving through Summerland to Montecito and it's worth a stop if you haven't been yet. read more

Westerlay Orchids listed in the Independant that they were having a Holiday open house 12/7 from 3-6PM with seasonal bites, beverages and photos with Santa. A European Christmas Market. We drove down from Santa Barbara and found NOTHING but some white lights amongst the orchids. Such false advertising and a waste of our time. Love this place! I stopped by a couple of orchids place in the area and this was definitely my favorite. They had these very cool twisted orchid plants along with many other wonderful various varieties and sizes of orchids including pots and some for plants too! I'm a realtor and purchased several pots to use for staging and a cute little orchid plant too! I will be going back soon for some orchid plants I also I want to purchase as gifts! read more

Make sure you really choose a healthy orchid. I got one broken and they did not exchange it for me. I love this place, magical orchids and it's always fun, relaxing to come pick something for my house or a present. Unfortunately my last experience was not that great because when I got home one of my double orchids lost one "arm" with full flowers. It was a huge surprise because it just fell without being touched.. it felt like a magic fall... not a peep, just fell on my table. Flowers were not tortured, I promise you!!!! Orchids are so gentle looking that I am even scared to touch... or smell. But for them to just fall out of nowhere it's a little to much to accept. I came back hoping I would get an exchange but no... she said: you can keep this one, pick a new one and will give it to you at a discount price. Hm?! Really? I strongly believe that my orchid was already broken when I got it. Impossible to just fall like that. I donated the orchid to them... they can have it and resell it. I wanted something I picked not half. It was not about the money!!!! But the manager is hungry to only sell. She should serve, too! Not a great management. read more

Cool nursery on the way to Santa Barbara on the 101... You exit on Santa Claus Lane if your going north on the 101. A quick right, and there u are. Place was huge.. Orchids were about 98% of all they had growing. Reminded me of a movie with a bunch of pods, ready to take over humanity. In this case, they were just Orchids. Had a "wow" moment as i saw all the flowers. Pretty cheap if your in the area. read more

This is definitely worth a stop on your way to, from or around the Santa Barbara area. I came here for the first time 3 years ago and loved it! So excited to come back here today on our way up to Santa Barbara. This was our first stop, as they close at 3 on Saturdays and are not open Sundays. Then we swung by the hotel so our beautiful orchids weren't baking in the car. Anyways, back to the "viewing room." Just walking in you get a beautiful whiff of fresh orchids. They have pretty much any type of orchid you could ever want from the big and beautiful, to colorful and exotic to cute little baby ones. They are all very reasonably priced, most are in the $15 - $20 range, but they also have some above and below that price point. If right now you are thinking, I've seen orchids at Trader Joe's for $15, what's the big deal? Well, trust me, you haven't seen orchids like these at Trader Joe's! These orchids would be priced much higher in a regular store, these prices are wholesale, baby! To be honest, I killed the orchid I got 3 years ago within a few months. But that was the old me! As someone who has now maintained 3 plants for almost 9 months I was ready to try an orchid again. (While I was bummed when I killed my last orchid, I still felt $15 for the several months of beauty I got was a good deal!) My mom also got an orchid 3 years ago and she still has hers, and the one she got for my grandma at that same time just kicked it a few months ago. So if you know what you're doing they can last a very long time. I'm excited to give it another shot with these beautiful flowers. I'm in a different apartment, which contributed to the death of many different plants, and the people at Westerlay armed me with tips and some special orchid food. No matter how green your thumb is, this is definitely worth checking out! read more

I just bought my second orchid from Westerlay. My first was in bloom for at least three months! It is so fun to come in here and shop, I wish I didn't have my kids with me and I wish I had more time to look around! The orchids they sell are stunning. I love that most of them are in bloom but have MANY unopened buds, so it will last a LONG time when you bring it home! I saw teeny tiny orchids that would be great for an office desk for $8. (including a tiny pot). My orchid is huge, with two stems and it was $22. If you are driving by this place on the 101, stop in and buy an orchid! read more

The orchids are amazing. It's right off the freeway. Stop into the small store which is attached to one of the green houses. The most beautiful flowers in a variety of colors. My favorite part is looking through the windows inside which are attached to shooing room. I the shipping room there is a football size field of orchids. Just stop by to see them. The flowers here are lovely and well-priced. Sometimes, though they really last and other times they do not. I don't know enough about orchids to choose accordingly, though. The workers "dress" them for you for an extra fee. It's rather slow so don't be in a hurry when you visit. The showroom is well done and a pleasure to visit. read more

The orchids in this place are truly beautiful. The reason I'm giving it two stars is because I purchased two very beautiful orchids and made sure they were packed well to protect them for the trip home. Two days later one of the orchids' stems snapped - which I realized was due to the bamboo stick supporting it being too short and therefore the weight of the flowers was too heavy for the stem. I tried my best to 'rig it' so the stem would have more support - but it's not looking good and the flowers are starting to die. Two days later the second orchid I bought one of the stems broke on that also!!!! I emailed Westerlay Orchids with my concerns who haven't even had the decency to respond to me!!!! My concern is why wouldn't the saleswoman know by looking at the number of flowers on the orchid that there wasn't enough support?? I don't know these things - well I didn't until now! So what was two beautiful orchids now consists of dying flowers! :( read more
