The nursery was closed and locked up. I turned around and followed another yelpers advice and opened the large metal sliding door with the open sign above. Inside you'll find an amazing amount of air plants with varying sizes and prices. It took us awhile to choose, but we left with three beautiful hanging air plant arrangements. The staff was friendly and she provided us with care instructions. She also told us that the nursery across the parking lot may open this summer. Y'all...I had never heard of an air plant ever in my LIFE, and when I arrived here, the concept was still unfathomable. What? A PLANT THAT NEEDS NO SOIL!?????! NONE AT ALL!?!!! Give me an aspirin. I was too tired to figure it out. Just accept. But I fell in love like I had found THE ONE. All my life, I've killed plants. They would come to my home to die, but this one...this one hits different (-ly). When you KNOW, you KNOW! So I went into my pocket and bought five of these miniature little things in various beautiful colors and put together my own hanging arrangement. Then I took it home with me to live, not to die. I am over the moon. We are going to ride out into the sunset together, little plants. The staff is incredibly helpful. Brian is extremely passionate to a fault, but it is better than someone with no passion. Come here and jump on the air plant train. This concept, trend, whatever you want to call it, isn't going to die any time soon. With our world trying to be more conservative, this right here is the way of the future. Embrace it. This place is SO cool! Having a whole venue dedicated to air plants is such a treasure. The location is great with easy parking right outside the nursery and showroom. There are tons of plant options and also colors. They have beautiful vases and plant creations that are perfect for yourself or a gift for someone else. Brian, the owner, and his team are breeding different types of air plants. The options seem endless! This is incredible and a must-visit to anyone who's into plants or just wants something cool to do. Air plants were such a mystery to me until my friend introduced me to them. Still was unsure about them until I came into this spot and was taught some gnarly things by the owner himself. He's so full of knowledge and you can tell he is passionate about air plants and teaching. They have a huge selection with colorful plants and arrangements. They have a shop where you can have a build-your-own arrangement. Just select the plants you want and select the container. They've got a selection of different sizes. Air plants have become my secret new obsession! During the pandemic, I too got the plant parent bug like many others. While driving past the countless plant nurseries within Carpinteria (windows down of course), I noticed a small wooden sign on the side of the road stating "Airplant Alchemy--SALE!" I spontaneously turned into the gravel lot and noticed a small note stating "OPEN" on the greenhouse sliding door. Immediately after stepping foot inside, I was transported to the tropics! Humidity, breeze (artificially from fans) and the smell of nature's freshest oxygen hit me. Not only are all your senses activated, but they have the most adorable and bizarre-looking plants. Live gremlins, space creatures and hairy puffballs exist within! You can purchase air plants singularly in various sizes and prices, but also as ornaments, in oyster shells, and fun formations like orbs. Besides air plants, they also sell gorgeous orchids and clay vases and bowls. I brought my mom and aunt in for a visit and they were in awe; particularly at the Christmas trees made of air plants. They simply walked out with a total of 8 new plant babies to bring home to the Midwest. The employee is always friendly and happy to answer any questions about plant care. I will make one promise: You won't be able to possibly leave without a new tiny plant creature for your home or a friend. They are surprisingly easy to care for, close to kill proof (they come with an instructional card but do not require soil and only need to be soaked in cool water for 30 minutes once a week!), and make amazing gifts and creations with the Holidays upon us. My roommate has been really into air plants lately because they are sooo easy to take care of, I heard of Airplant Alchemy through Yelp and am sooo grateful that I now know this exists! Not only do they beautiful and unique plants, the pricing is incredible! The owner, Brian, is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about plants. There are so many exotic plants I didn't know existed! Brian's knowledge of plants and creativity is inspiring and he is fascinating to listen to and learn from! There is just so much you can do with airplants because they are so easy to take care of and low maintenance. I loved the gift shop here, everything was priced well, and they had a lot of cool vases and other creative vessels to display your airplants. My favorite was the handing ornament for the airplants and the stands that you can layer multiple plants on! The plants that they sold here varied in color and sizes and just got me started thinking on all the unique artistic ways to incorporate plants in my house! Heard about this place from a friend and thought I'd head over. Luckily they have a huge "SALE" sign next to the entrance. There's a dirt parking lot next to the entrance as well. The place has a showroom warehouse with air plants everywhere! The pictures do not do it justice. The owner Brian Kollenborn is very knowledgeable and helped me chose the air plants perfect for my needs. He has such a variety of air plants of all colors. Prices are pretty reasonable considering they're all happy and healthy. He also sells some orchids as well if you're into getting those too. There is a sale right now (buy two get one free). I live near a great air plant place! How awesome is that?! I have typically purchased air plants online but really wanted to choose my own. This place did not disappoint. They have large ones as well as small ones. Typical green ones and my favorite ones, ones with flowers and some that are pink and purple. They also have arrangements I will post pictures of.
