AWESOME! I was having a cleaning, and an old filling came out. My dental office called Dr. Elford's. they got me in right away, completed the filling and also filed my teeth until my bite was correct. My bite feels amazing; I had just gotten used to it feeling awkward. He and his staff were kind, efficient and didn't make me feel like a bother, being that it was probably their lunch time. My husband and I did not choose Tony Elford, he took over John Larson's practice, who was our dentist for 20 and 40 years. My first and only appointment with Tony Elford he never even introduced himself to me, however, he did try to sell me procedures (fillings) that are not necessary. My husbands appointment immediately followed mine. His hygienist refused to clean my husband's teeth, saying it wouldn't be beneficial as he had bigger issues. This was followed by Tony Elford once again not introducing himself, and again, trying to sell expensive procedures to my husband. If all of this weren't bad enough, his hygienist and an assistant actually argued with each other over whether or not to include implants in the charting procedure. My wife and I went in for our annual checkup. While we received the same exam I was billed $143. My wife $0 Called and spoke to someone, I was informed that they made an error and to disregard the bill. 6o days later I received a past-due notice for the $143. I Called back and spoke to the "office manager" Who dismissed my claim and stated I was responsible for the past due amount. I feel I was lied to, we will not be going back! read more

I did not choose Dr. Anthony Elford. He took over for my Dentist of 30 yrs. I had an appointment for a crown prep a few days ago. Terrible, terrible experience. While he was drilling on the tooth to be prepped, he was drilling way to fast, and slipped resulting in cutting underneath on the back of my tongue. (12 stitches) I knew it was bad by the amount of gauze going in and out of my mouth. Also, I could see the amount of blood going thru the suction tube his assistant was using (also a cold non personal lady) after several suctions Dr. Elford told her to use the "white tube" so I could'nt see the blood being suctioned. After an hour and a 1/2 of being stitched up, he told me that my tongue "reflexed" and made the the tool slip. He said he would give me a prescription for pain and antibiotics. He left and I never saw him again. He must have dropped off the prescriptions while the assistant was putting the partial on my tooth. That evening. 8:00 pm the office called to check on me. Expecting to hear Dr. Elford's voice. It was his receptionist! The next day I saw a different dentist for an opinion. He said, he had never seen anything so bad in his years of dentistry, nor had he ever cut anyone. I know "accidents" happen. BUT, Dr Elford never apologized!!!! Terrible Chair side manner!!! This office was extremely professional and efficient. They worked with my insurance seamlessly. They always followed up exactly as they said they would. My dental cleaning was thorough. The dentist consultation answered all my questions and he even accommodated my request for a special type of mouth guard, which he researched how to mold and order. Everyone did a fantastic job. Unlike the previous review he was very worried about my insurance benefits because I needed 2 crowns but one was more prevalent than the other so he helped make the choice of which needed done more before the end of the year so I could maximize this year and next year's benefits! I've been going to see Dr. Elford since I was... Probably about 13 years old, or so. Even now that I live in Ashland, I still make a trek up to go see him. I'm too attached, what can I say? He's always been the nicest dude ever. One might say overly nice, and generally I would too, but he isn't creepy about it in the slightest. One reason I have been going to him (and will for as long as I can do it) is that he knows me, and doesn't just treat me like I'm any patient or just a number. I hadn't been in to see him in over a year and a half (since long before last summer when I moved to Portland for a while) and he saw me and asked how my job and how Portland was treating me. Just little things like that, when doctors/dentists actually remember little things about you. I appreciate that kind of stuff. And I told him that I was in Ashland now, and of course he said, "wow, you're just all over the place these days." Yes... yes I am. Anyways. The second reason I will always go to him is that he never tries to sell me stuff I don't need. When I lived in Portland, I decided to see a new dentist in Hillsboro (or something) and he had told me I needed a ridiculous amount of work done on my teeth (totaled up to about 2500$ of crap) and I thought... Yeah, you're probably full of shit because I would probably be in major pain if I needed all that. So I had them send Dr. Elford my X-Rays and such and he basically said what I thought. That that other guy is a typical city dentist trying to squeeze money out of me for work I don't need done. Turns out I actually do need a root canal (and a few fillings... yikes), but that was found way later. ...I have weak teeth. It's a curse. He knows it, too. He KNOWS I take care of my teeth. There's no helping it. In conclusion: I will always recommend Dr. Elford to anybody looking for a dentist in the Eugene area. He's a super cool guy, the hygienists are always great, and the front desk lady (she's been there since ever) is super nice (although chatty) and also knows me fairly well. read more

Dr. Elford is pleasant enough but was terrible at trying to help me take advantage of my insurance benefits. When I tried to myself and went to an entodontist that was in my network (to save $500), he fired me as a patient. Now I have a temporary filling for a root canal, need a crown on it and I have to search for a new dentist. The whole process has made me very uncomfortable. If you are looking for a cooperative partner in your dental care, do not go to Dr. Elford. read more
