Forest City Brewery is located in Duck Island (between Ohio City and Tremont) on the corner of Columbus Road and Freeman Avenue, with the actual entrance on the Freeman side. Inside you will find a series of different rooms, including a large Beer Hall, the main bar area and a great patio out back. The whole thing feels very real and industrial, funky, comfortable and truly Cleveland. Forest City has a nice concise menu of foods, in house beers along with a larger menu of beers and drinks. You order and pay at the bar, get your beers and a number that allows them to find you with the food. The patio is a large open space with trees and plenty of assorted tables and chairs and is very dog friendly. I enjoyed the house brewed beers; I prefer darker and more full bodied beers. All of the beers were very drinkable, smooth and nice finishes. The flavors are subtle and nicely balanced; these are great beers to enjoy and there is a definite personality that Forest City beers have. I was lucky enough to get tickets to the Comedy Festival late show on Friday. The show was in the main beer hall, a large room with a low stage on one side. The show was set up with seven comedians each doing about 7 minute sets and the headliner doing about 45 minutes. Overall an great show, a bunch of different styles and approaches. The headliner Elijah Nevels was excellent; a Cleveland local who tells great stories and hilarious jokes he had the crowd going for his whole set. I really enjoyed Forest City Brewery great beer, really well made food with traditional flavors and a really unique setting. I would highly recommend checking them out. Forest City provides a unique venue to host events; if you are a comedy fan you should look forward to next years Cleveland Comedy Festival.

This brewery feels like it's in a quiet residential neighborhood because it is; nearby is a wine by but otherwise it's picturesque streets and homes. Going inside it looks a little unremarkable, like a garage brewery anywhere. But inside it's special. The main bar room is like an open barn, with warmth tasteful decor. Behind the bar is an antique ice chest, used to display their merchandise. They have a small menu of tasteful styles; we all got to talk to one of the brewers who was clearly proud of what they make. Further inside there are other rooms for private events, working brewery areas, historical decor, and restrooms at the end. The real draw here though is the outdoor beer garden: wood chip floor, big comfy Adirondack chairs, picnic tables, high tops, fire pit areas, basically any type of seating for groups or singles. Big trees, ivy, green everywhere; it was so relaxing enjoying our flights as cyclists and others came in and out through the gate from the street. The beer was also great, delicious quality and reasonable prices. This is a must-visit brewery in Cleveland, you sure don't feel like you're in a city when you're here.

Our waitress was nice but it took a while for her to come back and take our order--to the point where we went up a few times to the bar to ask for the waitress. Food was decent, but the most disappointing part was being charged for the large party gratuity, without letting us know. When handed the POS system only the total was shown without the line items. So to our surprise when we got our receipt after paying, we saw that the large party gratuity was applied and that it should have been applied for 18 guests or more. A couple of us didn't realize and tipped 20% on top of the gratuity when honestly, service wasn't that great.

The other was too engrossed in his conversation with other patrons to notice us. We weren't greeted, asked if we had any questions about the menu, etc. Once we got our drink order in, we were interested in getting food as well. Getting the attention of the staff was truly a feat to boot. We finally got the food order in and ended up moving to a table because the first bartender kept staring at us with her hands on her hips. We got the food, expecting something like Bottlehouse/Masthead/HiHo for our meal, and it was Sysco food. The chicken sandwich was a Sysco chicken tender on a bun. For over $35.00 in food alone, we expected more. We both work in the service industry and understand that things happen, but being treated like an inconvenience for our entire experience is something I was not expecting from a brewery with such high ratings. The cherry on top: in the men's room, 1 of the 3 sinks and both of the urinals were out of order. Definitely will not be back.

The taproom is simple bar along the back wall with a few bar seats; there's plenty of larger tables in the main space. In a thoughtful way, this ended up being a favorite brewery of the whole trip because of their immediately apparent focus on African grains, traditions, and adjuncts. The names also reflected these traditions, and I wanted to know more. Born in "Frog Town" (Toledo), it started as a passion project that immediately gained attention. As proudly stated, they're a Black-owned brewery and has also gotten recognized for diversity in the beer industry. I'd love to visit their main location someday soon! The bartender was friendly, and very patient with us as we were the first customers of the day. I saw words and ingredients I've only occasionally seen at other breweries so I immediately ordered those for my flight. It was fun to see how they used the ingredients, all the beers were delicious and we loved the bright open seating space. Prices were reasonable, parking was easy right outside. If you're a fan of breweries with a unique signature and great story, this is one not to miss.

The private birthday party was in their back room. This bar appears to be a favourite amongst locals. Service has always been attentive and friendly the both times that I've been here. FOOD/DRINKS -- I don't drink alcohol but they have a lot of options to offer such as beer (obviously) and I think wine too. The food appears to be standard/average from what I've seen. For my friend's husband birthday party in January 2026, we had pizza which I believe was from another business so it's nice that this establishment allows you to order your own food for a private party. I ordered a sparkling water during my first visit which came in a can. I actually don't like sparking water that much but I had limited options for drinks since I don't drink alcohol and I didn't want a sugary drink. GAMES -- The back room has games to play which is fun. They have pool, football (called "foosball" I think), etc. For both times that I visited, I tried a game called Skee ball game where you throw a ball and try to land it on different levels and each level has points that you can earn. If you like beer and a good atmosphere, then give Two Friends Brewing a visit. **** GOAL of 250 reviews in 2026 - 59/250 total reviews in 2026 - 900 total Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 30 April 2026

The lines were long, servers rushing around, but still the bartenders were friendly and happy to serve in a calm manner. Their beers are excellent quality as well, and reasonably priced. Restrooms are in the basement. The only negative is accessibility for people and even strollers, so you may want to check on that before coming.
