What's the one thing that can make or break a business? Customer Service. How did Ant Moving completely jack us? Shotty customer service by not showing up. How did they make amends and make things right? Non-Customer service. This included a written and verbal apology as well as offering to pay for the whole move that we had to undergo from ANOTHER mover. After the review was posted the owner contacted my sister; who coordinated the whole move and the owner offered to pay for the whole cost of the other move. This was not only unexpected but also a very generous move to make things right. Honestly, this place deserved the 1 star review after the first experience but making things right by paying for the whole move says a LOT about the integrity and concern that the owner George has. I can't by any means give them a 5 star review. I mean, we wanted a service from them and they didn't show up. They also didn't move us which doesn't warrant a 4 star review. However after the post-review interaction, they definitely are better than a 1 or 2. So what then? A 2. Ant Moving I raise my yelp shotglass to you and say cheers for being a stand up business that does make an effort to make things right. Especially since we didn't even use you. Moving is super crappy. At least, the way I used to move was super crappy... what I used to do was pack up everything I owned as carefully as possible, then beg everyone I knew to show up at my house as early as possible on the day of the move. Then I'd pay a low starting price of $19.99 for a U-haul, knowing that before the day was through, I'd spend at least $140 in gas, mileage, insurance and what-have-you. I'd hold my breath as I watched one of the friends I'd conned into helping me schlep all my stuff attempt to pull said U-haul truck through an impossibly tiny space (because there's always an impossibly tiny space or angle, if there's a U-haul involved). Finally, I'd hold back my annoyance when, invariably, something I spent too much money on got damaged in the process. Now what I do is I go on Yelp.com and I research movers. Move before last, I used Jim's Movers, and they were great. This time around, they were booked so I decided to give Ant a try. The rate sounded super reasonable, and they weren't charging double-drive time, as so many movers do. Even though I was gambling on a new set of movers, I figured it couldn't possibly be worse than the scenario outlined about. Sure enough, the guys from Ant arrived on time and ready to work. Two of them got the job done in two and a half hours, and this was moving two people out of two one bedrooms and into one three bedroom house, all on the first floor, mind you, with about thirty minutes on the road! Moral of the story: moving doesn't have to be super expensive OR super crappy! Just suck it up and hire someone your fellow yelpers can vouch for. read more

I hired these guys a couple of years ago to move me out of my apartment in Burbank. I felt guilty because usually I help the movers by pitching in, but my back had given out so I watched helplessly as they did all the moving. They were fast and wasted no time, finishing an hour early. I've actually recommended them to friends because of their service. Cut to today. I am moving again in October and I got a call for a quote from George. Lo and behold, the prices had not changed. I'm getting 2 movers and a truck (enough to move out a 1 bedroom). He said there was a three hour minimum and a set fee for gas, which was all the same as last time. On the day of, they will wrap my furniture with plastic and tape for free. George also told me to call them at 11am for my afternoon move on the day of to find out when they will be there, since they have 2 small moves in the morning. I think most people would be irked by that, but I appreciate the honesty and not having to wait around for them. If I've finished wrapping up the night before, then I'll have time to brunch. So now that this is all set, I can't wait to move. I'll let you know how it goes but for now I'm giving them 5 stars based on the work they did last time. Well let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Ethan is the main happiness specialist and he made sure that all of my requirements would be met in a short timeframe. He was responsive and reassured me throughout the process. His crew was very professional and wore masks for COVID. They came on time, packed all my furniture and were on the road pretty fast. In order to help me meet my moving deadline, they called in last minute members to help out which I really appreciated. Shout out to Erik, Stephan, Vasily and Griz! Because of unplanned traffic, Erik arrived around 12am (they have been working since 7:30am!) and they got me a hotel room so that I didn't have to stay in my unfurnished place. I was pretty thrilled with these guys. I had a small, nearby move. Dimitri and one other super nice guy (whose name escapes me, unfortunately) showed up on time and completely prepared. The care with which they protected everything and moved around walls & doors to avoid dings or scratches was very apparent. As with most moving or cleaning companies, they have a 3 hour minimum. Since it was a small move, they worked very hard to make sure they were done in the minimum time to save me money. We had a positive experience with Ant Moving Company - Roger and his partner did an amazing job with a very difficult move. They moved quickly to load our things into their truck and packed things intentionally to reduce the risk of damage. The biggest challenge with our move was that our new home was on the 4th floor of the building and there was no elevator. Despite this, the two movers were able to complete our move with minimal damage (broken headrest on desk chair, which they repaid in the form of a discount) and in record-breaking time.They were very friendly and it was a pleasure working with them from scheduling to the actual move. I was =so= disappointed in the service I received, after reading all the reviews on Yelp (that was the main reason I hired them, along with the $15 for $30 worth of service certificate). They were 15 minutes late, which I figured was ok because they called to let me know there was traffic. When they arrived, I walked through the apartment with the main guy. I showed him all the items that are marked "To Apartment" should be loaded first, and everything else after, since we were going to a storage unit first. Simple enough instructions. I introduced the guy to my fiance and when my fiance went to help load the truck, the main guy told me I was beautiful. Yes, he hit on me right after I introduced him to the guy I'm marrying! Anyway, after all the guys used my bathroom (shouldn't they have done that before they arrived?) they practically yelled at my fiance, "Boxes first!" Well, I had just shown the main guy that apartment stuff needed to be loaded first, since it would be unloaded last. Still, we followed their directions, since we figured they'd load the truck appropriately. When they moved my fridge (for some reason, they moved it =all= the way across the apartment instead out the back door which was RIGHT THERE), they put two giant scratches in the floor and ruined every single step of my stairs by chipping off paint, scratching the floor, all while my landlord was watching. The landlord later took out over $300 of my security deposit because of the stratches THEY put in! They didn't bring a big enough truck, even after I spelled out everything that I was moving to the guy I was given the Quote from, so I paid for twice as much time because of their mistake. We went to the storage unit, removed everything that should have gone there, and went back to the apartment for round two. When it came time to move my baby grand piano (because their website said they could do it), they asked if I had the tools to take it apart. "Umm... no... that's your job," I thought to myself. So I had to pay in time for one of the guys to go to Home Depot to get a wrench, to take apart my piano. If they were professional movers, they should have brought the tools from the beginning! Eventually, they were able to move the piano into the storage unit and then it came time to go to the apartment to drop off the rest of my stuff. Of course, most of the stuff that should have gone to the apartment, and was labeled on every side as such, went to the storage unit and vice versa. When they finally arrived (half of them got lost), a friend of mine had already moved into the place and they broke his clock by knocking it off the wall, played with his pet instead of moving, all sorts of things I was fed up with by the end of the day. I wrote the check and they're finally out of my life. Don't use these guys. They may be strong, there may be that Yelp certificate, but they're unprofessional and you're better off using another company. read more

Didn't follow directions, didn't follow through on our agreement, caused a lot of problems for me. Hired them to pack and move 3/2014. When they arrived they didn't have boxes and weren't prepared to pack; the guy was giving me attitude. I suggested a few options and was flexible and he still had an attitude like this was my fault. I arranged with their supervisor to re-schedule for another day with a different crew since this one made a bad impression on me. On the re-scheduled day the same crew arrived, that was not the agreement. I chose to go through with it anyway. It took them over 5 hours. They charged for boxes which was not my understanding. It was $430 to move a tiny 1 bedroom apartment 10 minutes away. So far (I haven't finished unpacking) I've found bleach in a box with open cleanser which got on velvet journals; cleaning supplies taken out of their packaging in one box and the empty containers they were taken out of in another box. I used them before in 2011. They were fantastic, friendly and efficient. It took them 3 hours and cost about $240 to move a lot more stuff. I recommended them to a lot of people & looked forward to using their services again. That's why this recent experience was so horrible. read more

To be honest, the moving experience with them from start to finish was ok (they were upfront about their charges, and no hidden fees, guys were chill with good attitudes, etc)- except for the fact that they were about an hour and twenty minutes late. There is no excuse for tardiness anyways but that was what put me in a most peculiar situation. Considering that the move was on a Thursday morning, I had taken a half-day off work because I needed to get the move done asap. I expected it to take only three hours since there were no boxes and personal belongings- only 10 pieces of bare furniture or about one bedroom's worth of stuff. And since I was moving from LA to Orange County, the 3 hour estimate accounted for the drive time. It turns out that I was correct- it did take about 3 hours since they were reasonably fast. However, I had anticipated for the move to end at the latest at 11 or 12 since the move started at 8 am. But because they delayed by over an hour, they ended up leaving at around 1pm. The result was that I was unable to show up for work, and I was extremely nervous towards the end of the move. Perhaps I should have had a "buffer zone" in between engagements; but I am simply sharing my experience with this mover, that I was extremely delayed because they were late. Had they not been late, my schedule would've worked perfectly since the time it took to move was right on the money. Moral of the lesson in moving- always account for unforeseen circumstances and keep things reasonably apart on moving days. read more

Moving made easy - fast, friendly, affordable and NOTHING broken! Our move from L.A. to the Bay Area went off without a single hitch thanks to George and his team. He really sets the bar when it comes to experience, professionalism, efficiency and price. When I priced out renting our own Penske truck, paying for gas, stopping halfway at a hotel, meals on the road and bribing friends with pizza both in L.A. and up north - Ant Moving actually cost less. Not to mention it saved both my back and friendships. I have moved with Ant THREE more times since my first review (I know, I know, I said I hoped I wouldn't have to use them again anytime soon, but better places kept coming up and Ant makes moving so eeeeeasy!). I've also recommended them to three other friends who had great experiences. I would never allow anyone to pack my things because I am an organized, private, not-lazy person (also, you know, cheap), so I can only vouch for their moving services. Each time they are consistently professional and really do take all the stress out of moving. They are extremely careful with everything, from wrapping the furniture to loading the truck. They're very good about putting things in the appropriate room at my destination and helping to assemble furniture. They are so efficient and unstoppable, I always think I'm going to need them for much longer than I actually do. And still the best prices around. George is good about discounts for repeat customers, but even my first-timer friends got great rates. Also - the movers are still the nicest guys around aaaand the cutest! My friends actually ask if they can come over and watch the "hot Russians" move my things. To which I say, "No! That's exploitive! These are just hard-working guys trying to do a job." Just kidding! Who doesn't need a few friends around on moving day? I tell them to come for the show, stay for the cleaning! Whatever results in free labor is ok in my book. I can't recommend Ant enough and they are my first and only call when moving time comes again. It sounds like they've gotten busier - rightfully so - so now I try to book a little earlier and confirm my appointment closer to the move. After calling over 7 top-rated moving companies in Los Angeles, I decided Ant Moving was high quality at a much more affordable rate. I definitely made the right decision. A HUGE difference was that Ant Moving does NOT charge "double drive time" like every single other company I called. ex. I had 2 stops before arriving at my new home. The first stop was 20 miles from my second location. It took about 45 minutes. Most companies would charge me 90 minutes (double drive time), but Ant Moving did not. Also, my two movers, Paul & Sam, were EXTREMELY hard working. They were reluctant to even take a water break. The owner, George, was so communicative and accommodating. I've heard of horror stories of movers not showing up and the customer not being able to get a hold of ANYONE. That was certainly not the case with Ant Moving. I got updates as to when exactly the movers would be coming (they give a window initially). For the entire move---moving furniture and 30+ boxes from 2 locations and unloading into my new place, INCLUDING drive time, was only 5 hours. I thought this would be a 7-8 hour job. If you want an additional 10% discount off their already affordable prices, you can pay in cash. My things were moved without being broken and a lot of care was taken to ensure a smooth transition to my new home. The next move was not as great. They were late, they put a dent in my washer and they came with too little packing material and we had to wait around for 45 min. for someone to bring them more material. They did it fast and efficiently, without so much as a peep! I've hired movers before and they were always loud, a bit rude, and slow--not so with Ant Moving! These guys came on a recommendation from my wife's work. First of all, let me start off by saying that I am the worst at moving and on top of that I was sick before the movers came out. Needless to say, I was not completely ready when they got to my place to move me to my new house. There were a lot open boxes and things that still needed to be packed and clothes still on hangers. These guys had special boxes dedicated for my clothes and they packed it for me! I wish I could remember all their names. Jeano and I chatted about XBox and will be playing each other soon enough if I can find his gamertag. If you read this, please e-mail me with it! They were just awesome in every way movers could be awesome and a fair price too. I didn't feel nervous that they would steal anything, in fact quite the opposite. They put me at complete ease. I needed a lot of help and these guys really did the trick. Again, I did not make it easy for them and they did it fast. They subtracted the time they took for breaks, which I would have paid for. They were great at packing the odds and ends that were about. George the dispatcher was fantastic too. Made me feel confident that it would get done no matter what. I had a couch that had to be chopped up in order to fit out the door. While we were figuring out how to hack it up, I turned the hallway and saw Jeano body slamming it and breaking it in half. We all had a good laugh. These guys were fun, funny and nice. It was a pleasure to hang with them for the day. If I had enough money, I would have tipped them each $100 as they totally deserved it.
