I got the lymphatic body massage; the massage itself was fine. I called and booked the same day, which was appreciated, but when I got there, there was no one at the desk, and I kinda just waited for 5 minutes before someone came in. The space itself was clean and nice, seemed high-end. The main reason I am giving a 3-star review is that the person who performed my massage and the person who checked me in walked me to a room, left me sitting there for a bit before coming in and giving any instructions. Then, the massage was taking place; again, the massage itself was fine. Nothing too crazy and not something I would go out of my way to come back for. But then on the way out, I heard them talking about my tattoos, which just made me feel uncomfortable because I don't understand the need to make any comments. Then they kept pointing out how red my face was, after I explained that I have eczema, so my face is red from a skin condition. They pointed it out again. I think it would've been different if I were getting a facial and they were making a comment on my facial skin condition, but it wasn't. I was getting a body service, so the comments felt unneeded. I was thinking about also getting a hydrafacial from them but I don't think I will be coming back. read more

I could not agree more with Flora H's review from 2yrs ago. It seems not much has changed in the last 2yrs. I too was underwhelmed by the aesthetic of the spa however decided to keep my judgment at bay until after the lymphatic facial/dermaplaning experience I had booked. Once I laid down to begin my treatment, I was immediately upsold an extraction add on. While I don't mind investing in such treatments, the treatments itself were very sloppy, rough and careless. During the cleansing process, pads were harshly zig zagged across my face without much thought or technique. My lash extensions were tugged at and completely ruined as the technician continued to arbitrarily wipe my face. The hydro extraction was a senseless sort of rough where I almost felt violated. This would foreshadow what would come next. The dermaplaning experience was also quite lacking in skill resulting in a nerve racking experience as it was clear there was no real technique in which the blade was sweeping across my face. I've experienced enough facial treatments to know when your aesthetician lacks skill and/or the experience you expect at $325. They switched technicians for the lymphatic facial and I hoped the experience would change but it remained sub par. She did one side of my face, showed me the mirror and expected me to be in awe of the difference between the two sides of my face. Unfortunately, I couldn't see a difference. I felt compelled to get up and leave at that point but didn't want to cause a scene. She finished up the other side of my face and proceeded to pile on a ton of sticky cream which she struggled to spread on. It was so thick, I had to ask for a towel to wipe the layers of product off my face. When I finally got in front of a mirror, I looked worse than when I had arrived. Red patches appeared where there once were none and I didn't feel like my beautiful self. You invest in these self care experiences and you expect to leave there feeling and looking better than when you arrived but this experience completely ruined my morning and made me regret choosing this establishment on a rare PTO day. The aesthetician could sense my disappointment so didn't charge me for the extraction add on and gave me a $81 discount on the lymphatic facial (although I believe this is a standard discount for 1st time customers which I was). I still ended up paying $184 which is a hefty sum for the sub par experience. I'm very confused by the positive reviews. This place is not it. I'd like a refund if the owner is reading this post. I got a lymphatic drainage facial and massage - the massage was wonderful - I'd honestly give the quality of the massage 4 stars, but the overall experience and facial are no more than 2 stars - the facial was underwhelming and I left feeling so greasy. Someone else kept coming in and out of the room and when I was turning over from front to back, they opened the door so the esthetician could come in while I was completely exposed. I didn't feel like my skin was deeply cleansed and I was charged $50 for an additional 15 minute massage that feels like it should have been part of the standard facial, without that massage it would have been a 30 minute facial with a gua sha The whole experience felt a bit rushed and during the facial I couldn't relax because they kept trying to upsell me from extractions ($25 for something that took 2 minutes and was not at all thorough) to a monthly membership and she asked mid facial if I wanted to commit to it I understand this is a business but people are more likely to return if they have a good experience. I really wanted to like this place and was excited to find a place that offered a lymphatic drainage massage and facial but I honestly just couldn't wait to get home and shower. read more

Didn't love my experience at Anso Med Spa. Based on the prices, I expected a nicer "spa" experience but it was a dingey space that is basically a converted apartment (without much thought). I could get past that initial impression since this is NYC, but the next thing that came was an attempt to upsell me with a lady punching numbers into a calculator for various add ons. I stood firm - I just wanted the lymphatic facial massage - which seemed to annoy them, but they then tried to sell me on a package of them. I stood firm again. After the "massage" I looked much worse - there were red blood patches all over my face - but they kept going on and on about how great and how much better I looked and tried to upsell me again. I said I wanted to give it some time to see how my face reacted over the next week (true, as it initially looked awful) and can say that over time the bloody patches went away, but I don't think I looked any better. Maybe this is just what your face looks like after any lymphatic massage, but I would have more respect and appreciation for that if they had told me that rather than try to say how amazing I looked when I clearly did not. Not a very professional place and based on other reviews I should probably expect to be harassed after writing this review, but feel a responsibility to share my experience. read more

I've been coming here for a couple years and I've always been very satisfied and beyond happy with the treatments and service. They really do care for your well being. My favorite facial treatment right now is the Fotana Laser. I've been coming in for acne treatment and acne scarring. It's MUCH BETTER than your typical microneedling needle. I love the laser. It's quick, efficient, bearable, has a cooling air blower to cool areas of your face as needed. The downtime was faster for me. I had 3 medium sized pimple scars on my right cheek and i was shocked to see that it disappeared pretty quickly. I'm very excited for my second appointment soon! I've been feeling very insecure, ugly, and depressed lately over how bad my acne scarring had gotten because of cystic acne I had in college and my early 20s. I had the deep cleansing facial here and it was wonderful. I wasn't able to care for my skin properly for months and wearing the masks caused so much acne. Sofia was great and she even recommended some products and skin care routine I can do help my skin stay moisturized and, hopefully, acne-free from now on. Also with CoVid-19 going on, the beds they use all have disposable, layers/blankets which you lay on after you down grade or keep whatever clothing you have on. They are not offering the robes which is definitely understandable at this time. I probably recommend for others to dress comfortably, I wore leggings and a lose T shirt which was fine. This is NOT a Hydrafacial. Completely false advertising. This is just a regular facial that they are using the name hydrafacial. If you want a nice space for a basic facial, then go for it, but if you're looking for a hydrafacial this is not it. Also, fair warning, they use a needle for extractions. She wanted to pierce my cystic acne with a needle! This is an obvious no-no to anyone who has has had more than one facial in their life. This causes scarring. My lower back and neck strain reduced by so much from just a single session, which typicality doesn't happen with many of the massuese I've tried. This tells me that my acupressure points were focused on (I worked with physical therapists clinic before - this is all we talk about) and that the therapy works! Secondlt, massage therapy is known to improve your blood circulation. I went into this appointment feeling awful and not expecting much, however I couldn't have been more wrong. The interior of the building is lovely, of course, but the facial and extractions I received from Sophia left me thinking, okay this is really what is meant about "self-care". Good facial for the groupon price but I wouldn't go back for full price. My skin looked hydrated and very smooth after. Almost as if I had a snapchat filter applied! But the next day my skin looked visually pretty much back to normal although it felt very smooth still. Minimal extractions were done although I didn't need much. Very brief massage...but it was so so light that it really did nothing haha. Face mask was applied at the end and the esthetician left for maybe 10 minutes? I was not seen by Ann or Sofia but my esthetician was really really sweet, and seemed knowledgeable. read more
