Honestly one of my favorite workout studios in London overall. I come here 4-5 times a week for spin or yoga classes (have yet to try the HIIT) and like the combo of spin and yoga along with the nice facilities.
My 4 stars are for two reasons, one being that I know another_space is owned by Psycle and I like the Bikes at Psycle much more (although another_space is closer to my work so most days it isn't worth the hike to Oxford St.).
Also, because while I adore most of the yoga instructors at another_space including Helen, Marc, Steffy, David and Sara, I have taken a few classes from Chris and have been less than impressed. This is because while I understand that he is working to be a strict teacher and I appreciate detail to attention and anatomy, he comes off as extremely negative and condescending sometimes, especially to beginners. While I am a certified instructor myself and I am not personally affected by this, it honestly suppresses the vibe in the room and can feel extremely awkward and unsettling even. As an instructor, I find positive reinforcement with corrections more effective, with new students especially. Although, Chris' his manner in a Sunday morning yoga class (which is usually the happiest part of my week) was extremely negative and made me feel quite down after class. Furthermore, I recently found out that he is the director of yoga which really surprised me given his angry and sullen attitude. I also took this up with the front desk (he had left by the time I wanted to ask him questions about the class) and she defended him saying that he was a strict teacher, basically denouncing my complaint and uncomfortable feeling which does not seem right to me. I will simply take my Sunday morning yoga somewhere else.
Although, like I said, other than this I have never had an issue with the studio while being here and truly do find this "another space" from my work and home. read more
