Decided to checkout this place while visiting for work. I tried the Chilaquiles. Very disappointing. First off they were NOT made with tortillas it was more like a pita type of chip. The "salsa" was more of a sweet and somewhat spicy, similar to the tostitos salsa. How do you claim to make chilaquiles without actually including the 2 main ingredients?? And not to mention the service, it was BAD. No one a knowledge that there was a customer waiting at the front (me). And I was not the first to wait there for a long time. I wouldn't try it again. Incredible!!!! I ordered the lobster Brie omelette with a side of city grits. It's hard for me to say this, but the omelette and the grits were the best I have ever had! I'm not much of a grits fan, but their grits I could eat all day long. Absolutely amazing! I sat at the bar, so I can't speak to the dining room experience, but mine was absolutely amazing. The server guided me perfectly when I couldn't decide on something. The place is a little pricey, however, I can honestly say it is well worth it. Just finished eating breakfast here. Had the blackberry grits (just because I'm in the south), the Chez B's omelette, and a latte. The blackberry grits were good nothing great but a nice change from the plain buttered grits. That's all that can be said for those. The Chez B omelette was exceptionally awesome. Easily one of the best omelettes that I've eaten. The flavors of the mushrooms, caramelized, feta, and Parmesan cheeses. Each bite was better than the last. The potatoes that came with it were good but seemed plain next to omelette was wanting more taste with the potatoes. Finally the latte was well done. Served hot which seems to be a hard thing to do for some café's. Was full flavored with the right amount frothy milk. Yum. Just wish the would serve it in a more cafe styled cup. Instead they serve it in what I consider more of a filtered coffee styled mug. Overall good choice. read more

One of our favorite breakfast restaurants. Casual atmosphere with a gourmet menu. We started with the biscuit beignets which rival Cafe du Monde. I had the broken egg biscuit which was great. A biscuit with a fried chicken tender, egg, and gravy. This was served with my choice of city grits that were some of the best grits I've ever had. Grits with Gouda cheese, bacon, tomatoes, and green onions. My daughter had the chocolate chip pancakes which she loved. Service was impeccable with Sarah, but the entire staff was friendly as well! Let me start by saying that I give it a 3 star because the garnishing on the brunch old fashioned are delicious. The mini pancake and the bacon are fantastic. Otherwise, I was extremely unimpressed. First of all, it was cold and raining and we were forced to wait outside instead of in the lobby. I would've understood if this was for COVID-19 reasons however, the entire restaurant is packed like sardines so forcing people to wait outside in the cold & rain really doesn't seem to make any sense when the rest of the place is completely packed with people. Then comes the food. I got the chicken & waffles and my husband got the lobster & Brie omelet. We often share so I tried his and the lobster was extremely strong in fishy flavor. I've had my fair share of lobster and that's definitely not ideal. Then for the chicken & waffles it might've been good but the pepper honey was just not good. It was really the smell that turned me off from it and I could hardly eat any of it. The food looks beautiful but ultimately was a letdown. Our waitress was nice but the rest of the staff were less than cordial. The breakfast spiked cold brews lacked flavor. I mean all in all I don't intend to revisit. read more

We have previously had a pleasant meal at the Asheville version, so had expectations of our experience in Greenville. We were incorrect. 1- Online check-in system is a mess. Time estimate is way too low (est. 20 minutes, we waited over 45), and they are continually calling out names of people who aren't there waiting. 2- Cleanliness. EVERYTHING was sticky. The table/counter, menus, folder our bill came in...everything was sticky and covered in fingerprints. Behind the bar, everything was grimy, with drips and smears on all the cooler doors and coffee makers etc. 3- Hygiene. The bartender was cutting up fruits and veggies for drink garnishes. She did put on gloves, however she took strawberries right out of the original packaging (without rinsing) and prepped them for garnish. Same with carrots- they were clearly unwashed and not peeled, and she slivered them and put in the garnish container. Uck. 4- Speed of service. After ordering, it took about 40 minutes for our food to come out. Add that to the poor time estimate for wait, and our 'quick stop for breakfast ' took close to 2.5 hours. 5- The food. I got a scrambler for ~$10.25. It was served in a huge 'skillet'...but the scrambler took up less than 1/2 of it. Terrible presentation. Smaller skillets or more generous portion, please. The food here isn't bad, but it's pretty disastrous trying to get in and get served. After several visits, the place strikes me as consistently under-staffed and/or under-managed. Be prepared for a long wait to be seated, and then a long wait for your food - while you spy lots of empty tables, and struggle to make sense of what's going so wrong. One pro: the bacon is delicious. So is the andouille sausage. Some of the omelets sound much better than they actually are, but some are pretty good. The City Grits sound tasty and interesting, but they are actually pretty bland and boring, and definitely not worth an up charge. Bread options do not include rye toast, which is a negative for me. One con: they are nearly always out of the Tomatillo Mary. Honestly, it should just be taken off the menu. I won't say I'll NEVER go back here, but if I do, I will proceed with caution and definitely lower expectations. I call this between 2 and 3 stars, but I'll round up... for now. read more

After having breakfast at the Asheville location a few weeks ago, I wanted to check out the Greenville spot. I had the Brie and Lobster omelette, a pancake and we shared some beignets. My girlfriend had a similar egg dish. I was really hoping to have the same experience in Asheville only much closer to my house. The end result was us paying for the meal but leaving it all on the table after waiting 45 min for basically eggs. I've never been more unimpressed with the effort that went into making food. IHOP can do a better job of making eggs. They were not busy, but somehow both of our dishes were lacking. The plates had been sitting out so long that the cheese on her eggs had recoagulated and gone stiff again. Everything was lukewarm. The lobster had been microwaved and placed on top of the omelette, potatoes were a joke, and the cheese was stiff. We let the waitress know this was not anything like we've experienced before. We mentioned the omelette was supposed be served with a champagne butter sauce that was obviously non existent. "Oh that's what they cook it in hun..." Yeah, no. None of that. This was the saddest meal I've ever had in the past 10 years. On top of that I couldnt believe she was trying to butter us up by complimenting my girlfriend's tattoos. It's like she knew it wasn't up to standard but did jack about it. I would have sent it back, but it would have been another 45 minutes plus me wishing someone knew how to cook a few eggs - apparently a difficult task here. Whatever, $40 later and I've got a sweet story to share and hopefully someone doesn't waste their time at this location. Went today taking my brother out to breakfast visiting from Boston. Very disappointed. My brother had French toast. The bread was so stale he could hardly eat it. My husband had English muffins also stale and the potatoes were also hard. This place used to be great. It is also much more expensive than other breakfast places nearby. It's unfortunate because the server did great job getting drinks and greeting the customer but the entire operation is slow. We waited an hour to be seated then continued to wait for additional 30-40 minutes for food. Almost two hours is not what I have planned to be at one establishment for food. Apparently this location is understaffed in the waitstaff and/or cooks or the hostesses are not good at processing incoming customers or just poorly managed. I have eaten at the Birmingham, AL location of this restaurant and the experience was wonderful. This location had lots of empty tables, lots of customers waiting for food and lots of people waiting. Watched at least 3 groups leave without waiting. Sad because they serve a good meal. So 2 years later...1 star better...simply because beignets came out before our food this time, and they were the best thing I ate here. However (and there always seems to be a however)...$5 for an English muffin and a side of potatoes and another $5 for 3 slices of super greasy bacon seems a bit much. For $10, I could have purchased a pack of English muffins and a pound of bacon (when it's on sale) at the grocery store. We came for the birthday pancakes and left 2 hours and $23 later.
