We were able to get in without a reservation on a Saturday night (our first in the Sorrento area) for two couples. The hostess/server said she was the wife of the chef. She was ok, but we did have to flag her down a couple times as she walked to different tables but not look around at the other tables she was handling. She recommended the fresh sea bass which sounded good. The women shared the sea bass. Then we had two pasta dishes, a gnocchi and tagliatelle. The pastas were good, with nice sauces used. However, the women were not happy with the sea bass. It lacked any spice flavor. It was deboned at the table but both women got numerous bones so this turned them off a bit. Overall Moonlight is a decent restaurant with some nice dishes. Maybe our experience was an unfortunate occurrence.

We had a lovely lunch under lemon trees here. Our favorites:…read more* Scoglio 1903: seafood pasta with lots of mussels, clams, and shrimp * Spaghetti and clams: made with parsley oil, so not your typical spaghetti and clams * Cubotto di manzo: beef steak The restaurant is best for their seafood dishes, although the beef steak was seared well and probably one of the better steaks I've had in Italy. The non-seafood pastas were just so-so. We also ordered the pasta with truffles and pasta alla Nerano (pasta with zucchini sauce); both were forgettable unfortunately (1 star off). Bread was freshly baked in house and tasted amazing. Fresh basil leaves and lemon zest were added to olive oil, which was a nice change from traditional bread and plain olive oil. Service could be a little bit more attentive, because we were not given a plate to discard shells from our seafood pasta or a steak knife for steak. We had to ask for them specifically. LOL.

You can tell the guy who took our order is the owner and he showed a great deal of pride in his restaurant. I wanted to order an additional plate since my main course was only fish.. he said it would be too much and he didn't want to waste food. Most restaurants don't care as long as they sell you more. Every dish was soo flavorful. My daughter's dish was the two color pasta with Gorgonzola and honey and it was amazing. My fish was moist and flavorful. My husband's pesto was very good and so was my sons pasta. I tasted everyone's food lol. The salad was also amazing. We all loved what we ordered and that is very rare.

The service was a little slower, but there was only 1 waiter and all the tables were full. He was very friendly and also made room to accommodate our double stroller by the table. The lemon linguini pasta was the best pasta I've ever had! The dish looks very simple, but the flavors of savory and herbs just danced in my mouth. The portions were also very large. The potato chips/slices were also a favorite for my boys. We definitely want to go back again to try more of their menu.
