I've been to Anny's maybe three times over the past five or six years. I finally took some photos on my third and most recent visit. First--don't be put-off by the somewhat uncleanly outer appearance of the strip mall this restaurant is in. It's a local family-run establishment with a spacious, very clean interior, friendly team members, and very fresh burgers. My party ordered California, Texas, and Hawaii burgers. We also got a shareable side of Cajun fries. Everything was really fresh. The meat tasted great, was seasoned well, and the veggies and other toppings tasted super clean and as if they'd just been purchased or picked. The portions are also worth noting, as you get a reasonably sized meal that's commiserate with the pricing. Overall, Anny's is a really good mom-and-pop burger joint that's absolutely worth trying out. I highly recommend the California burger to newcomers. Enjoy! read more

Finally tried this burger joint. It was Veteran's Day and a Monday and the first two restaurants we chose were closed. I heard good reviews about Anny's so about time we tried it. We split a Sand Dune Burger and it was delicious and quite large. Loved the mound of crispy onions mounted in the burger We also ordered the salt and pepper fries and fried dill pickles The pickles were spears and could have been fried a bit longer. They were okay. We did have to wipe down our table ourselves and the restaurant was about 1/4 filled with customers. I would come back to try more of their burgers or have another Sand Dune but try different sides. This place has been my go to burger spot for years but lately, their burgers no longer stand out. I always get the California burger. Tonight, there was no freshness to the meat. It was bland and overcooked. Tasted like any of those bulk frozen patties out there. The bun was not soft and seemed past its prime. I also asked for no pickles and there were pickles on it. Please, Anny's FB, get it together and bring back the quality. I wish I could give it 5 stars but tonight it was a 2 star burger. I gave an overall 3 because the fries were still great. read more

The service is always fast and it's usually empty when I go to order, but there are people in the restaurant usually sitting down eating. The onion rings were really crispy but we felt like there was too much batter on them. They were also a little bland. The ranch that was served with it also seemed a little off as well. Went here for lunch craving a burger. It's been a couple years since I've been here. The last visit with the wife left us not really wanting to go back , as there was almost no flavor to our burgers . Decided to give it another shot. Ordered a garlic mushroom burger and Texas bbq burger. When they came out I was pleasantly surprised at the portion sizing . However, as soon as I took my first bite (garlic mushroom) it was the same very bland , non existent flavor profile of the burger type ordered. Not one hint of garlic flavor, the brioche bun was very cakey and disintegrated, and the beef patty was bereft of any seasoning . Finished it and tried the Texas bbq burger. Could not taste the bacon and the patty was again bland as hell. No salt, no seasoning, no nothing . And it was way over cooked. Had to ask for bbq sauce and ketchup to give the meat and semblance of flavor I paid $35 for two burgers and a drink. With each burger being $15 and not even coming with fries, the burgers here are not even a good value. I loved going to the Santee location when I used to work in that area. Buffalo chicken wings ($12.95): the exterior was not crispy, but the buffalo sauce is balanced. The sauce is not spicy, and the amount of vinegar is just right, as it's not overwhelming. 8/10 rating. The onion rings were typical, 7/10 rating. I thought that beer battered onion rings were included with the wings as a combo. Now, the Cajun fries were a hit. Although mildly flavored, they were extra crispy and addicting, 8/10. The service was standard, and the parking can be difficult during dinner time from 5:00 to 6:30, as the lot is shared with other busy restaurants. The vibe and the music here are chill. If there's one place to go to just get a damn burger, it's Anny's. Does San Diego already have too many burger restaurants? Yes. Are most of them pretty overhyped and way too expensive for what you're getting? Yes, but not Anny's. Anny's is one of those places that has the right amount of attention for the product they're selling, and the best way I can describe their vibe is like a restaurant in the East Coast that still has a smoking section. I don't know how to describe it any other way, but for me, it's nostalgic, and maybe if you're also from the East Coast, you'll know what I mean. Specifically, places that I've visited with my grandma in Virginia Beach are a little behind the trends, and they focus more on serving a quality item that might not look so great for Instagram. Anny's has a long menu of burgers, sandwiches, wings, and more, and these sloppy things are huge! You could seriously share a burger with a friend, or try to heat half up later. I've been here a few times for various reasons, all for my lunch break during the week. They've been packed every time, so if you're coming during peak lunch hours, factor in the extra (15-20) minutes you'll be waiting in line. The employees are super friendly, just make sure you follow the signs and don't go the opposite way they tell you to (or they'll call you out, also like the East Coast). One thing to note: if you see the pastrami burger and think "oh, I'd actually like a pastrami sandwich," like I did, go somewhere else for a pastrami sandwich. Here they will only serve you pastrami on a burger bun, and if you ask for it without the beef patty, they don't give you extra pastrami and it looks and tastes sad (pictured). I'm not big fan of the normal fries (too much pepper) but the waffle fries were great except for a couple that had stuck together and didn't fry quite right. Surprisingly large seating area given the area. Not too loud for conversation. Parking was just barely enough for a weekday evening. Staff were polite and efficient.
