My husband and I have been coming to Annie's for years. I do agree with some other reviews that the food can take time. The portions are huge and regular menu items will take more time. However, this is also a place to get drinks and picadera (appetizers). I wouldn't say this is a dinner place. So be aware that if you order full meals it may take more time. We have not had any issues with service. All the staff have been nice and courteous and they are bilingual. It's right on the water which is awesome and just a great place to chill. I usually get fried fish bites (grouper/mero) and they are delicious. They also make great cheese balls. My husband also ordered a cup of conch (vaso de carrucho) and an empanada de chapin (chapin turnover). He didn't feel it was all pure chapin and may have had another fish which should not happen but it was tasty. One thing I will says is always get a mojito when going here. That has to be their specialty! I recommend the passion fruit, it is real fruit juice. Great place for a quick bite and drinks like I said. We will be back! read more

Overall a poor experience. Way overpriced for what you get, and the service was awful. Our server wasn't very personable or attentive. We had to wait about 45 minutes for our food. In the meantime, the table next to us was seated, ordered, served their food, ate and left before we were served. Unfortunately their water went out while we were in the restaurant. They told us they couldn't give us tap water, and that we'd have to pay for bottled water. Eventually they came around and gave us water for free, but that was right before we left. I ordered the trifongo with conch. It was served at room temperature and was liquidy. My wife's salad arrived without dressing. They only had white vinegar and oil as an option. Gross. The decor is very nice and it's right on the beach, which is nice, but overall I'll skip next time I'm in town. read more

Stopped by Annie's Place per a recommendation from a relative. When we arrived, there was no parking, but a friendly patron who was leaving gave me his small parking spot. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated. Once seated, our drink orders were taken and our drinks were delivered about 15 minutes later. I perused the menu and I decided to order shrimp mofongo and ceviche. We also ordered some appetizers, which were served in a fair amount of time. Once we ordered our meals, our server stopped visiting us and other people were seated at tables near us. While we waited over an hour for our food, the four people who sat down next to us after we ordered had received their meals, eaten, paid, and left. WTF? Anyway, once I finally received my mofongo, it was cold and dry. The shrimp was tasty in the sauce it was made in, but there wasn't enough of the sauce. They needed to double or triple the amount of red sauce, in my opinion. The ceviche was tasty, but was overshadowed by the poor service. This visit lasted over three hours and the food was average. Service was very good. Lots of options to choose. Food was fresh, thus we had to wait a little. But looking at the view we were perplexed of the beauty of Puerto Rico coast line. This one is located in the southwest part of the island. Price and portions were reasonable. On my second visit, I brought reinforcements and it was the charm. My Passion Fruit frappe which was intended for me to enjoy was stolen by my wife. Well, I loved to pleased her, so I was more than happy. Where to even begin? After being seated, it took between 20 and 30 minutes for anyone to even approach us, to greet us, take a drink order, anything at all! When we finally got to place a food order, we waited so long that we had to leave hungry in order to make our evening bio boat tour in La Parguera in time. When we left we were told that the kitchen was so backed up it would be another half-hour for our food to come out, making it a full HOUR from the time of placing the order to when it would've been ready. Also, the hostess lied to us about a table by the back railing (the best spot for watching sunset) being "reserved" and unavailable for us to use: that table remained empty. While the food is good, the overuse of plastic and complete lack of environmental awareness on a small island with practically ZERO recycling facilities is TERRIBLE. A few examples: As of January 2024, Annie's Place only uses plastic cups and styrofoam takeout containers. Plus plastic straws. Anytime we asked for a refill of our water, they brought us ANOTHER plastic cup. This is especially tragic when one takes into account the fact that Annie's is located on the beach, where waste can easily be blown into the water. We've seen the beaches and roads littered with trash throughout the area. My husband was born in Puerto Rico, and grew up near Combate. So it's particularly painful to see a locally operated place have so little care for the environment and island in general. Annie's has a significant opportunity to be a local leader in delicious Puerto Rican food, that is ALSO a leader in caring for and protecting the local beauty of their natural environment. Use reusable cups. Use cardboard to-go boxes and paper bags. Eliminate the use of plastic straws, or offer sustainable agave alternatives. If this all costs more, then incorporate it into the cost of food. People - especially tourists - will pay for it. Take this opportunity to be a leader in SUSTAINABILITY and environmental responsibility, and show your pride for Puerto Rico by protecting it. Until Annie's can commit to this, we won't be back, and we'll tell our family and friends the same. read more

The food was made with love, you can tell. Everyone (8 of us) enjoyed their dish. We got the fish ceviche as an appetizer and ordered more after having the first dish. Everyone loved their meals: flank steak, chicken and rice, shrimp mofongo, fish tacos (with mahi mahi & red snapper), and sides of rice and beans. There are complaints online about the food taking long, but we had a timely experience. The staff was very personable, diligently, and kind! Ate at Annie's 2 nights over a four night span. First night was fairly dead (Thurs night before Labor Day), but the service was great, food was good and the vibe was great... Fast-forward to Sunday night (waited about 20-25 mins- no big deal, busy weekend I know); but the waitress clearly did not want to deal with us (was being a "gringo" a factor...?). As we were looking to pay and divide the check (3-ways, I know- not ideal), my wife went to the restroom. As she was gone, the waitress moved us to a register just out of sight for when my wife returned. When my wife returned, the waitress asked what she "was doing"; and my wife responded with the fact she was looking for the rest of her group (no, my wife was not drunk or belligerent). When my wife explained the situation, the waitress told her she "needed to leave" and was escorted out (despite being polite and SOBER!).. All of this as the rest of the group paid around the corner (btw, wife called and cell service prevented any communication). My wife was not given any recourse. Overall, the sense/impression (and I'm not sensitive) was we were not exceptionally welcome as "white" . Say what you will, but the "feeling" and "sense of things" was not imagined. the view was immaculate! we saw fish and crabs next to our table in the ocean. the jar of water definitely helped quench our thirst. the drinks weren't the best, very subtly hints of flavoring while tasting like alcohol. as a vegetarian, i ordered the vegetable mofongo with a side of rice and beans. the rice was fluffy and nice and melted in your mouth. the beans were also really good! the vegetable mofongo had lots of garlic. the yuca was buttery, crunchy and chewy. overall very pleasant plate. the servers were very nice and thoughtful read more

View is stunning and breathtaking, if you want to enjoy food with a view this is the best spot at El Combate beach. However the food and service is so-so. The menu didn't have an english translation and the servers didn't know how to speak in English and just walked away. Once we were done google-ing the menu translations we had to call their attention four times before they got our orders. The server probably got frustrated and just walked out after a few times of trying to communicate with our broken spanish. We received our food 30-40 mins after, considering there weren't a lot of people when we were there. We will probably be back for the view and the pina coladas. read more

Horrible service. We came on a Monday afternoon at 3:00pm. Waited 10 minutes for someone to approach us to ask if we want to sit. Then after sitting us, the waitress didn't approach us so for 20 minutes. We then got up and ordered take out thinking it would be faster. Ordered food at 3:55pm and the food came out at 4:45pm. No crowd and no explanation for why the food took so long to come out. While the ambiance was good, the staff prefer to socialize with each other rather help the customers. Food was average at best. Stayed at Annies for four days. Check in was a little weird as there is no "real" check in. You just have to tell one of the wait staff and they'll bring you the key to your room and a paper to sign confirming your stay. There was a bit of confusion regarding the amount of days (on their part) we were staying but nothing major. I'm almost positive that the woman who checked us in was named Mayra. She said she managed the place for Annie. Parking was absolutely horrible. Annie's doesn't have a designated parking space for her guest and since the area is usually packed because there are restaurants and bars and of course Combate beach on site we had no choice but to park a few blocks down. Thankfully, nothing happen to our rental. Downstairs from Annie's is their attached restaurant. Food was decent but we waited almost an hour when we visited and staff wasn't very attentive. Music was good but loud. My ears hurt just thinking about it as I write this review. Ouch! LOL BTW: restaurant has a chain preventing you from entering or leaving. It was a little bothersome. The best part of Annies has nothing to do with Annie and everything to do with Combate Beach. It was literally steps away from our room and we had a lovely patio facing the beach with plenty of seating. The mini studio we rented was nice. We had a mini refrigerator, small dining table with two chairs, fulton, A.C., ceiling fan, full size bed (wish it were a queen), patio, television, wifi (it barely worked) and of course a bathroom. The bathroom itself was really nice but the water pressure of the shower kinda sucked. Although, we rented our studio for four days we left the night before because of our flight. It was a week day so we left our door closed with the key inside because the restaurant closes at 9pm during the week. I was asked to do so. On the night we left we noticed that there was some sort of party going on next door. There was banging on our wall, loud music playing and well, lots of people. Yup! It was a party. P.S. I posted videos. All in all, it went well. If you're looking to totally relax and enjoy some quiet time this probably isn't the place for you. However, if you're okay with having no real check in, no place to park, loud music playing until 12am on weekends and daily on the beach, barely any running water to shower with, Annie's is for you BUT the location can't be beat. We went to Annie's after looking to see what was around the Combate area near the beach to have drinks and something to eat. Beautiful place right in front of the water. Ordered some food and drinks and not sure why the food took forever. Service was not what I expected. We finally just paid for the drinks and decided to just leave since the waitress was not interested in giving us good service. I went here on Wednesday, March 3 of 2021 around noon time there was nobody just me and my friend and there was another family with three kids the girl at the entrance asked us if we were drinking or dine in and I answered just we were having two piñas coladas and she said if it was just to drink we cannot come in because of Covid, I understand so we told her that we wanted an appetizer so we was apparently very annoyed by that and told us we had to order at the entrance, because of the volume of people we had limited time to eat. The food will be brought to the table once we were done they will the plate away and bring the bill we had to pay as soon as possible and leave. I was very surprised by this. Since all the tables were empty and there was no one at the beach on a Wednesday at noon. Once she sit us on. Table. She didn't even asked if we wanted to drink anything and walked away. I waited about 4 mins. Since no one left. I asked to talked to the manager. And another guy said. He wasn't in yet. So I just looked at her. And I just walked away. The place is supposed to be good. But the staff. Will ruin this place. Very very rude. If they expect to make tips this way. I think they have the wrong impression of what customer service really is. Do not recommend this place at all. And way over priced by the way. We found tons of other places around with nice people. Live music and better service. And cheaper too. Annie's Place Restaurant in Boquerón ended our night with a nightmare experience for what should have been a family dinner. It took over 2 hours to receive our food and the wait staff was beyond rude. There were 13 people in our party and when our food finally arrived it took over 30 minutes for everyone at the table to get their meal. No apologies were offered and we were treated beyond rudely when asking about the food and delays. The rice was extremely undercooked, the food was bland, the mofongo was hard and the fettuccine was hard. By the time we received the food half of our party was no longer able to eat. We had to ask for the bill several times before finally receiving a $415. We paid $415 for meals that we couldn't eat, for the worst service I have ever experienced and to leave with hungry children. All the wait staff except one waitress participated in yelling at our entire party without regard for the children in our party. That waitress was kind enough to take our payment so we could finally leave after being berated by all of her coworkers. One waitress in particular went out side to take pictures of our license plates and threatened us. We called the police but after over an hour of waiting they never arrived. So we finally left, but we want to ensure that everyone knows the manner in which we were treated in a "highly rated" establishment.I am shocked and disgusted at the terrible service and the abusive behavior of the wait staff. When one of them was bringing our food out of kitchen she left it unattended and flies where flying all over it. Finally we where fed up with the situation my wife food was out about 1 hour 20 minutes after we arrived, we told the waitress we didn't wanted, she came back with another waitress and said we had to take the food and pay for it.
