In a nutshell- I'm kinda addicted. I tried not to be but I really enjoy it. At first I made an…read moreintro appt online. It didn't go through for some reason but when I showed up they easily accomodated me an hour later. We went through some exercises to see how flexible and strong I was.... I think I sorta pulled a shoulder/trap muscles for throwing 14lb wall balls. That's way more than my 10lb bowling ball but I did fine overall and Ellen determined I was more than ready to start the basic foundation one month class. It was a small group of us and we went twice per week and learned good form and how to do all the different exercises. We didn't like how you had to pay $65 to make up a class if you missed one so I didn't miss any. Here's my thoughts: Simple yet effective workout equipment Back to basics, strength and good overall health Nice knowledgeable instructors Competitive spirit - great people Expensive but pushes me to a level that I cannot achieve on my own Worth it? It's my health and fitness

I've dropped into a few other boxes and have never felt 'at home'- I always felt like a visitor. At…read more12 Labours I felt welcome, with the coach and other members chatting with me, cheering me on, etc. The box was clean and the coach was friendly, and helped me scale something back to an injury (which was not caused by CrossFit!). Not sure when I'll be back in the area, but when I am I'll definitely drop in again. This is a good box!

With a staff that is not only knowledgeable, but passionate about what they do, you can't ask for a better crew to help you reach your fitness goals. If you're new to Crossfit, every workout offers a modified "Less than 3 month" version to help you get going at a good pace. After I dove in head first a year ago, I'm stronger, healthier and probably better looking than i already was. The time the coaching staff gives to help me improve in and out of the gym is something that I've been hard pressed to find in the past. You're not a number at Old Bay, you're a part of a team. A community. A group of friends that hold each other accountable to get in the gym and help you conquer that last rep, then take you out for a beverage because you're awesome. Old or new, young or young at heart, Old Bay is for everyone, and I couldn't imagine wanting to be anywhere else.

In a way it's unfortunate that I've been spoiled by such a nice box, because nothing in Dallas has been able to compare. On the other hand, if I had tried to start CF at any of the places I've been to in Texas, I would've quit after the first class. If you're worried about starting, CrossFit Old Bay is the place to go. Everything is scaled , and everyone is really nice. And the class sizes are small....now that I'm dealing with 25+ people in a class in a box 1/3 the size of Old Bay with 0 rowers, I'm very anxious for the snow to melt so I can return to Maryland and CFOB!
