I've only been a member for about a month and have not built a network of friends and support group yet. I only have been to yoga classes and no other classes. The yoga classes are decent enough for my need. It's a clean place. No sweaty and musty odors. Not fancy but not shabby either. People at the front desk are friendly and helpful. I've been a member for over 7 years and have always found the front desk staff, instructors and maintenance people wonderful to work with. The club is well maintained, clean locker and shower area stocked with amenities. The steam and sauna are the only way to end a good workout. There are massages too. In the morning there's coffee available to sit and socialize with other gym goers. As long as I am able to I will continue being a welcomed member of AAC. read more

Welcoming staff, upon entry, friendly patrons, clean his/ her locker rooms with showers, steam room and sauna, spacious vanity areas (+ separate from commode and sinks), ladies sitting area, plenty of towels, clean and well kept. On site are all of the cybex equipment and elliptical, tread mills, bikes for cardio; Pilates room, spin room, barre / yoga/ step class rooms; physical therapy room on site and adjacent to a partnered practice*( ask*) free weights, plenty of equipment for any type of workout. The club also includes an open area off the spin room for those who may want to do box style training on turf. I took a tour as a walk in, and was pleasantly surprised. This is an awesome athletic club. Pricing varies depending on needs. 89 a month for one and check on the rate for family. This as of as of April'23 . No contract and membership can be paused. Great gym with friendly staff. They have upgraded the cycling class room and bikes. Lots of new equipment everywhere and now they are upgrading the lockers. We actually got a private locker for a moderate cost so now I don't need to lug my cycling shoes and other things back and forth. I love it! read more

I loved being a member of this gym! I'm a school teacher and when I joined they offered me an educator's discount without my even requesting one. The gym was always clean. I felt safe. The class instructors were friendly and learned my name. Unfortunately I had to cancel my membership during quarantine, and they had the best cancellation process I've ever experienced. No fuss. Totally supportive. I fully recommend this gym to anyone in the area. Worth every penny of my tiny teacher budget! read more

I want to like this gym so badly but I can't recommend it. The employees are beyond friendly, I signed up with Joe for a short membership while I am in annapolis for the holidays etc. I had a trial workout (upper body) and figured it would be fine for two months). Last night I came in to hit legs and the mirage dissolved before my eyes. The treadmills stick and make a weird vibration on your feet as you walk. There is only a single smith machine, and it's so close to the mirror I cannot use it for the exercises I want to (I do BSS using the bar instead of a bench; I have nerve damage from a broken leg). The smith machine also is not wide enough to fit a bench (sideways) in it, to use the smith machine for hip thrusts --- I lift heavy and am not comfortable doing thrusts without a smith machine. The weights are never organized or easy to find; I spent half my workout last night trying to find plates that were the right weight/ matched the other plates I COULD find. I was really excited to have a gym I could walk to but I truly would rather drive 15-20 minutes to a facility I KNOW I can get in and out of amd finish my workout feeling calm and not stressed out by how crowded it was and how much time I wasted wandering around looking for equipment. I am going back today to see if I can get my money back, this is a fine gym but it's definitely geared more towards older folks, and people who are not focused on lifting. read more

After being a member for nearly 4 years, I recently quit as this place has gotten too bad for me. They kept changing the class times - the morning of the class!!! This happened on 3 consecutive Saturday mornings and it would throw off my whole day. The facilities are really limited and in those crucial after-work hours, the machines would be fully packed with no machines to use. And parking is a nightmare - it would be half my workout just to get to the place! Worst of all, when I tried to quit, I got the usual run-around. I couldn't quit via email, I had to go in person, and even though I submitted my notice to quit on May 6, they billed me through the end of June. They charged me $83/month as a single, and then $156/month as a couple, plus annual "enhancement fees." I could never figure out the enhancements as it seemed to me there were constant cut-backs (less TV channels, no cardio kickboxing, etc). I'll be happy to take my business to 24 Hour Fitness. I expect it will be cheaper and less hassle. read more

Quality of Life! I've probably joined 20 gyms in my life and maybe worked out a couple of times a month in each while a member. My wife and son joined Annapolis Athletic club several years ago and had been telling me how great it was So I finally broke down and tried it when they gave me a couple of free passes. They had lots of equipment available so I had no problem using exactly what I wanted to use Without waiting. After my work out, I tried the dry sauna in the locker room. It was really roomy and clean. They also have a large eucalyptus steam room which I enjoyed as well along with lots of private showers stocked with spa quality aloe soaps, shampoos and conditioners. I was also impressed with the little amenities like free mouthwash, shaving cream, hairspray and deodorant. As mentioned in some of the other reviews they have a full-size fluffy towels in large quantities that are constantly replenished, Not those little wash cloth ones you get at other Gym's. There is also a small TV lounge in the locker room with sports of need on at all times. After finishing in the locker room I sat down in the café area where they offer free locally sourced coffee along with tea and high-speed Internet. Forgot to mention, they have really good professional trainers if you want to use them or not and tons of classes going on at all times. They also have a really nice looking fully staffed kids club where I see parents dropping off the little ones though mine is well into his third year of college. I ended up joining about six months ago and now work out at least five days a week. I feel a definite improvement in my health. Bottom line, if you can afford to pay a few dollars more then those crank em through Gym's it's well worth it joining AAC in my opinion. What impressed me the most was that there was there's always equipment available anytime of day I do agree that it's not the cheapest but by far not the most expensive for what they offer. read more

Visited there on a day pass. In town on vacation for several days. Clean environment and decent machines. But $25 for one day pass. Went with my 16 yr old daughter so $50! That's ridiculous. Will find somewhere less expensive. Too bad their guest policy is so uninviting. read more

It's a nice facility with poor management. I've been a member for over 8 years and have recently had 2 complaints, neither of which were addressed to my satisfaction. The first concerned one of the trainers who is very loud when instructing his clients - to the degree that I could hear him over my headset and the pounding of my feet on the treadmill. I left a written complaint and waited 3 days but nobody called me, and when I followed up with the manager, she merely defended him, saying he couldn't help it. A few days later, I saw the same trainer bring his dog into the gym - guess he couldn't help that either. The second concerned a $29 fee I noticed charged to my credit card. When I questioned it, I was told it is an annual "improvement fee", introduced a year ago. I learned that this money is not actually restricted to improvement but goes into the annual operating budget, so effectively it's an additional membership charge, making the "real" cost of membership over $85/mo. I pressed the manager (and eventually the owner) on the rationale behind having two charges instead of just raising the dues (which I think would be more honest) and he said "I have no desire to debate AAC's fee structure". Funny, since I am the one paying it ... and meanwhile they continue to claim they haven't raised dues since 2007. read more

My partner and I recently joined the Annapolis Athletic Club and couldn't possibly be more satisfied with our decision. We switched from the main stream boxed gym which in our case was 24 hour fitness in the Parole Towne Centre. All gyms have their pros and cons but our previous gyms' pros didn't make up for its cons. AAC is a whole different type of gym; it caters mainly to the typical stay at home moms with the selection of classes throughout the day and the exceptional children day care center. The club also offers a profession and friendly group of trainers and a reasonable personal training plans that range from 30 to 60 minutes, solo, partners and group sessions. Anna sold us our membership and right away I knew she was the perfect match for my personal needs and goals. So far I've been a member here for 2 months and training twice a week with Anna. I have never been more satisfied with my progress than I have with Anna. Not to mention that the whole staff welcome us by name and are very helpful engaging us with the classes and amenities it offers. My only concern was the hours but I can't honestly remember the last time I worked out at midnight... But everyone has their own schedule so if you work late you either come in the morning or this might not be a match for you. Something that I really like about AAC is the cleanliness of the facility, complementary towel service and the separate men's and women's locker room which honestly feels like a mini spa. Spacious lockers, multiple mirrors with hair dryers, lounge area usually playing the news, steam room and sauna. The showers are private and always stocked with shampoo, conditioner and body wash. There is also a separate sink area that offers soap, lotion, mouthwash, deodorant, hair spray, and more great complementary products which really puts the cherry on top. This is a perfect example if quality over quantity. We are definitely satisfied AAC members and plan to stay for a long time! read more

Just joined AAC and so far, so good. I really like the diversity of equipment, great locker room with amenities. The class schedule is OK. Limited on some nights but good choices for weekend mornings. Some of the classes get very full so be first at the door and have your elbows sharpened to battle all the middle-aged women who run for the 'best' mat, dumbbells, etc (I know, 'cause I am one of them!). read more

This is an expensive gym, but you get what you pay for. The instructors are excellent! In particular Group Grove, Pilates and Yoga and the facilities are very clean. They also have one of the most impressive locker rooms I have ever seen with locks on the lockers and steam room infused with Eucalyptus Oil and shampoo and conditioner and any other toiletry comforts in case you forgot your own. Extremely overpriced gym especially considering short hours and being closed on, which seems to be, every holiday. At this day in age, who closes at 6pm on weekends??? AAC is the best gym in Annapolis by far. When I first moved to the area I went on a tour of all the gyms. I joined AAC because of its great location, good equipment, nice locker rooms, cleanliness, super nice staff and great class schedule. I knew when I joined that it was a little more than I had budged for in a gym membership, but I went anyways. I went for about 6 months, and quit the gym because I got lazy. I ended up getting into a 2 year contract at another gym, worst idea ever. After wasting a ton of money being stuck in a gym I never attended, my contract finally ended. Bougie and, therefore, overpriced. I think my membership ran me about 80ish before I quit. They charge almost an Equinox price for local gym quality. Classes are fine, sometimes great, but the schedule definitely caters to the stay at home Eastport crowd (why are all the good classes during the morning or lunchtime?)... Pros: coffee and cleanliness (hallelujah!). Cons: parking and, maybe, a little cliquey. If lululemon is your thing, this is probably the gym for you. Overall: meh. read more

I just cancelled my membership after being a member there for 4 years due to the lack of communication from the staff. Get everything in writing (although they never seem to respond to emails so it's almost impossible to get through to anyone). The only way that I could get someone to respond to me was by calling the Club and having that person email me back while I was on the phone with him. Pay attention to when you've frozen your account and when you plan to return. They apparently no longer send out reminder emails...Customer service definitely seems to be lacking, especially for a Club that charges so much money. It seems to have gone downhill with Debra Nathan gone. read more

Brick Bodies in Baltimore offered a restricted time period for a reduced price thus getting members in between 1-5pm which is a down time for the club. It was simple:the membership card swipe would indicate to the attendant the limited hours that the member signed up for. I've been a member of Bowie Sport Fit, LA Fitness in Crofton and 24 Hour Fitness in Parole. I switched to AAC because it was close to home. And I've been unimpressed. One pro. Nice Facility as far as the building goes. Cons: Not enough equipment, especially if you're into weight lifting. Cardio equipment fills up fast. Unlike 24 hour Fitness, Bowie Sport Fit, and LA Fitness - Annapolis Athletic does nto have a pool - but they are more expensive than all of the above. No indoor basketball courts (again all three have them), So that was the stuff I knew about going in. Here's the issues I discovered afterwards: Trainers will accost you asking for your business when all you want to do is be left alone. During peak hours, parking is an issue. Class start times and end times are more or less a guess - so don't expect to have any kind of routine where you know how long you'll be at the gym. Like most gyms their billing policies will bite you in the ass. Be careful what you sign up for. They certainly live up to the classic gym cliche that it is a) difficult to cancel and b) difficult to get them to stop billing your bank account once you do cancel. Either join for life or expect to fight them later on. This place is less than a half-mile from my house. It was really convenient. I am sad they couldn't get things right. read more

The pilates class schedule is pitiful - constantly changing or canceled, and the hours are aimed at stay at home moms. The instructors simply recommend switching to the seriously expensive private sessions, which are obviously much more lucrative. The gym is fine, but the classes are frustrating. read more

I joined this gym before 24 hour fitness arrived in town. The initiation fee was ridiculously high. The staff was friendly, and the facility was adequate but not for the price they charge. A majority of class did not align with my schedule, so I could only use them occasionally. The ones I did take were fine, not great, but okay. I have noticed a lot of former members at 24 fitness, for half the price, I can see why. read more

Pros? Location, location, location. Plus, the housekeeping staff is fantastic.The place is always clean and tidy. Clean enough that I'll actually go barefoot in the shower. And love the complimentary towel service. Cons? No huge glaring cons, but definitely enough little annoyances that add up to an overall underwhelming experience. Particularly given the price. It's not the biggest gym in the world (at least not compared to Bally's or Total Fitness or 24 Fitness or those bigger chains) which is fine, except that there are always machines (note the plural) out of order. And it's not as if they're out of order for a day or two. More like 10-14 days. Which becomes a huge issue during prime times. The hours are good except you should be prepared to feel yourself getting pushed out of the place an hour before closing. That's when the staff will begin shutting down unused machines and washing down the locker room and showers and such. I have no problem with good cleaning (hence the pro listed above) but it shouldn't get in the way of customer workouts during open hours. Especially since the place is only open until 6pm on weekends. At the end of the day, I'll stick around as a member, but primarily because of location. read more

Best classes, best dressing rooms, and best staff in area. Personal Trainers are great, with a lot of variety in equipment. I love the personal tv's on the cardio equipment, really helps with the workout. They did an expansion a couple years ago and have a really nice studios for groupx, yoga and pilates. I've been there for years and see alot of friends from Bay Ridge, Eastport and downtown. read more

The staff here are rude, the facility is unkempt, and the selection of equipment is for stay at homes who are only interested in walking on treadmills while watching television so they can say they worked out. They claim to be the "best of whats up" in Annapolis. Who are they competing against? In the small town of Annapolis there are no competitors so that claim to fame is essentially worthless. This "club" is overpriced. It took them three weeks to fix their front door. Need I say more?! read more

first of all let me say i'm a gym rat. i've been working out over 40 years and have been to a lot of gyms over the years. i have a lifetime membership at la fitness . i had a lifetime membership at bally's and la fitness brought bally's. and right now i work out at the elkridge athletic club. i like to work out at different gyms to change the pace. I pulled up annapolis gyms and i saw the annapolis athletic club was rated number one. so i got a email for a one day free pass. and i printed it out. when i got to the desk the woman said they don't have one day free passes. she said there guest fee is 25 dollars. i said let me speak to the manager. i told him i'm not pressed to work out in your gym since i have memberships at other gyms but i do have a one day free pass. i'm black and i'm thinking maybe they don't want black members. I didn't see any black people working out in the gym. anyway let me give my review of the gym. I hope my review doesn't sound like sour grapes since i got hassled trying to use my one day pass. its a nice gym. i give it a 4 star out of 5 star. but i don't understand why its been rated the number one gym in annapolis since 2004.Annapolis has a lot of gyms. how can this gym by the number one gym every year since 2004? i've seen a lot of better gyms. the locker room is very clean. and they have a nice suana and steam room. and they give out real nice towels. to me the gym is just average. its kinda small and they really don't have that many different exercise machines. and they only have one bench press which is very unusual. most gyms have at least 2 or 3 bench presses. and they don't have a pool or whirlpool. for 89 a month you should get a pool. i mean the lifetime gym in columbia charges 89 a month but they are huge. 4 times bigger than the annapolis athletic club and but they have everything plus an big outdoor pool and they are open 24 hours. read more
