Absolutely beautiful beach!! No bathrooms but we still loved the view and water so it made up for the lack of facilities.

Beautiful and clean beach! White sands, blue water, and a nice breeze! We even saw a manatee swim by! Parking is free on the side streets, you just have to look.

Cloudy and overcast today, but still a beautiful beach

One of the best beaches that I've been to in Florida. The water is absolutely pristine and the sand is like pure sugar.

This is one of our favorite local beaches. Clean, gorgeous and close to everything. Great restaurants, shops, and ice cream shops, too.

I have been going there since the late 80's. My daughter was married there last summer & we're headed back this year for July 4th. To say I love this place is an understatement!

I've been to a lot of different beaches in different parts of Florida and Ana Maria Island is by far my favorite! So beautiful! We found more good shells here than I have ever found on any public beach. Great for kids and families. Picnic tables, bbq grills, changing rooms , bathrooms and showers are very accessible. Free parking and lots of good restaurants on the main strip .

Beautiful, peaceful, serene...that's what comes to mind when I think of Anna Maria. My favorite beach has always been Siesta Key, but too many people found out about it. It's pretty busy on any given day. I heard about this gem, and we traveled down here (maybe 10 min further than Siesta) and didn't even fight traffic! However, we almost missed the beach, because the beach accesses are down side roads, and you have to know where you're going and where to park. There are no facilities, so don't expect a big bathroom or showers, but if you park in the right spot you'll have a couple restaurants to visit for food and beverages. On Anna Maria Island, there are 6 beaches, with Anna Maria being the furthest north along Gulf. At Gulf and Spring, you'll find the main access, and there's a small parking lot. You can also find street parking there across from the sub shop and rental place. Then a short walk down the side road (Spring Ave) and you're on a beautiful beach. We visited on Labor Day weekend, so I'm sure this was busy for this particular beach, but it wasn't even a 5 on my busy scale. The sand was soft and white, the water clear and the perfect temp. There is a restaurant called the Sandbar that we didn't check out, but it's located right at the access with great views of the beach and sunset. I'd love to come back and rent a house on the beach to stay for a few days. Gorgeous!

Great day at the beach! Lots of shells and sand bars! Clean beach, family beach & beach for one and all. Towards the north end breach restaurant and bar.

Ask the Community - Anna Maria Beach

Do they have bathrooms?

Some areas do. But I don't recommend using them. Always "go" before you go out. The average age of most tourists on the Island is 70+ years old, and the public bathrooms reflect lots of missed aim, and adult diaper changing. Not even joking. :(

Is it pet friendly?

No. Dogs are not allowed on beaches and must always be on a leash on AMI. Someone brought a dog to the beach a few days ago, and someone else immediately called the cops.

Anna Maria Island is just gorgeous, regardless of the section of beach you end up on. Even with all…read morethe rental properties and tourists, it was surprisingly clean on the sand and in the ocean. The waves were minimal, and there were so many fish swimming around us the whole time! I counted three different schooling fish species and a few crabs, which were unusually easy to spot because of how crystal clear the water is. I do want to note that we couldn't fins any public trash cans, showers, and bathrooms. It ended up wasting our water bottle reserves and probably led to spending more money at businesses that had these amenities than we would've otherwise. Options for surrounding businesses are limited and pricey. For instance, the only pizza place within walking distance is great if you can afford $20+ average-sized pies. There's also only one beachside bar along this stretch of beach access that has a long wait time and doesn't list cocktail prices on their menu. Parking is slim, but a lot of it is free if you park on gravel roadsides. Since it has always been extremely windy when I've visited, I definitely suggest firmly anchoring any tents or umbrellas. Also bring materials to hold down blankets and towels. They don't allow alcohol on these beaches, so also keep that in mind when packing your coolers. All in all, this beach is a must-see!

Beer Can Island is right across from Coquina beach and is located on Longboat pass which is a busy channel for boaters coming in and out so it's a good spot to see a lot of boats going by. This popular white sand beach has crystal clear blue waters on sunny days, was formed by tidal currents, and offers a beautiful undeveloped shoreline which is a popular stop for boaters. Over time, mother nature has eroded portions of the beach uprooting many of the Australian pine trees that once stood on the shore. The huge tree trunks and roots give the beach a real exotic feel and create an amazing landscape of fallen and weathered wood. A lot of people come to Beer Can Island by boat. There are no formal docking spots, but the shallow sandy water makes it a great spot to drop anchor and come ashore for a fun sunny day! If you're not coming by boat, you can take North Shore Road until you see signs for the beach, park, and walk north along the beach. You'll know when you're getting close by the driftwood becoming more and more plentiful on the shore. I saw a beached huge 10 foot lemon head shark and got some shark teeth from here! Although Beer Can Island is more secluded than some of the other area beaches, it does get busier on the weekends with all the boaters anchored up! All of the trees close to shore make this the perfect place to bring your hammock and lounge out! We saw a number of people who had strung their hammocks across two trees! Note, since this is a secluded island, there are no bathrooms or showers here.

Cool hangout spot! Kinda reserved from all the people at the other beaches. If you like hammocking,…read morethere are good spots for that too. Just keep two things in mind: - A lot of people like to come here to get drunk and high since it is reserved. Hence the name. Can sometimes get annoying and a little trashy. Kinda why I don't really come here anymore much. But recently local police have been cracking down a little on it. - The water on the side with the channel can be a little rough and unpredictable, so just be a little careful. Could possibly cause small rip currents.
