Wow, this is one nice island with lots of different beaches, shops, and small restaurants. Traffic can be quite slow at times, so allow lots of time to get to your beach of choice. I prefer Manatee Beach with its change rooms, showers, Snack bar, large free parking lot, and deep beach (but not too deep like Siesta Key).

Love Anna Maria Island Beach, hubs and I will take an impromptu walk on the beach after the kids are all dropped off to school. The beach has a combination of fine sand, some areas covered in hard shells. Water is pretty clear with bath water temp in the summer. During early mornings you'll also see dolphins playing close to shore. Lots of parking, there's a small area with picnic tables and bbq grills next to the parking lot. Bathroom facilities are clean. Anna Maria Beach Cafe has awesome water views, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I like this beach but the overall people in charge and parking is shit! Its just awful how crowded it gets and such few parking spots. The parking police is basically handing out tickets left and right. Its almost like they rely on tourist to meet their quota. Just awful. I went to their beach on Saturday and saw them handout 5+ tickets. Good luck contesting it when you get one.

We visited Anna Maria Island Beach while in the Sarasota area. The sand is quartz white and does not heat up during the day! The water was incredibly warm and surf stays relatively calm during the day, from the early morning to late evening. There are a quite a few beach access areas, but parking is very challenging to find. The city has dedicated parking with facility such as bathrooms and on duty life guards. The further down you go away from the main access, the less people you will find. This also means there aren't life guards on duty and no public services such as bathrooms. I would highly advise that you bring some form of shade and plenty water and sunscreen. Overall, Anna Maria Island and beach were out favorite location we visited. I would place this on your do not miss list!

I just had my first trip to Anna Maria Island and I loved it! It was the perfect vacation for a calm trip. The beaches were not packed with people which made it very easy to keep our distance. The first day we got there, there was a large black pipe in the middle of the beach, which was rather confusing, but after some research we learned that it was there to restore the sand. It was nice to learn that the community of Anna Maria Island was doing what they could to keep their beaches in a nice condition! The black pipe was not a bother because there was plenty of beach! Our house was a short 5 minute walk to the beach and at times it was difficult to cross the street, but the residents were very nice and would let us cross. Because of COVID we didn't venture out to restaurants or shops but definitely plan on coming back to enjoy island life here!

I love Anna Maria! Start to finish best beach experience. First time I've experienced free beach parking. Restrooms easily accessible and changing rooms. Never knew what real powdered sugar sand felt like until today. Water crystal clear. A lot of people arrived after 10am but didn't feel too crowded when I left at 2:30pm (I arrived at 6am). I stuck around after my run from Holmes Beach public parking to the tippy tip top of Bean Point (4 miles/8 Total), and floated in my tube for a couple hours. Pure bliss!

It's a bit off of the beaten path if you don't mind driving. It's a beautiful beach with free parking (although it can be tough to find a spot during busy times). There is some street parking nearby as well which is also competitive, but free is a great price. The beach itself is not a long walk from the lot to the water. The crowd is much different from St Pete Beach: many locals, older people, families. Not spring breakers. Which creates a positive: if you want to bring your libations you will not be hounded by patrol officers :) There are bathrooms, showers, changing rooms and also a cafe area with live music. This is a great place to enjoy the beach with an unrowdy crowd. And the water??? BEAUTIFUL and crystal clear. You'll spot dolphins here regularly.

Got a piña colada at their beach bar!

The water was beautiful and warm! My family and I went around 2pm so parking was plentiful and the beach area was not extremely crowded! They have a bar right on the beach that plays live music and serves decent food.

The beaches south of Bean Point seem to get overrun early by folks enjoying the sun and surf. It is great if you're happy with the busy-beach environment, but it's worth a visit to Bean Point if you want to enjoy the beach at a slower pace.

A very clean island, there are no tall buildings or fast food, you can see sharks at Bean Point and on the other side you can see dolphins. Golf carts can be rented to tour the island

How is the seaweed there? Leaving Ft Lauderdale in the morning and headed there but it is so bad here you can't let the kids swim 😔

Not bad at all, it also depend where in the beach you go and the weather because it has been raining lately, so I can't warranty anything, but usually there are none or very little. The Bradenton beach is good but always full of people but if you… Read more

    Is the beach dog friendly?

The beach is not dog friendly but on your way there, before passing the bridge, all that area is dog friendly, so there is always lots of people with animals there, even horses to rent. In that area people also do jet ski and other water activities.

Are there bathrooms at this beach? I have two kiddos so bathrooms at the beach are a must :)

    Yes!

It was an hour plus drive south from my friends house in Gulfport to Anna Maria Island. Bean Point is the north point of the island. Be cautious if you park in a neighborhood as they will ticket you $75 if your car is touching the road. We find out the hard way:( We walked a few blocks and found a public beach access. When I saw the beach I couldn't believe my eyes. The water was a gorgeous color of blue/green! It was hard to belive this was Florida lol. We walked for a while and I found some pretty shells to take home from my adventure. This part of the beach wasn't too crowded which I loved. A few people were fishing and others were sitting and relaxing. While a few tourists were in the water. Brrrr it was too cold for me. I only let it hit my feet lol. I highly recommend checking out Bean Point Beach so you can see this lovely water and beach for yourself!

The moment my feet hit that soft white sand, everything around me slowed down. The air felt lighter. The water looked like it was painted in layers of turquoise and glass. Even the breeze seemed to move with intention, brushing past me in a way that made me feel completely present. I kept walking, almost in a trance, toward the point where the Gulf meets the sky, and for the first time in a long time, my mind wasn't racing. I wasn't thinking about tomorrow or yesterday. I was just there, breathing in a place that felt almost sacred. Then the sun began to set, and the entire sky transformed into something unreal. Pink, lavender, gold, and that deep blue that only shows up at the ocean's edge. Families were laughing softly in the distance, a couple was wrapped in a blanket, and I just stood there taking it all in, feeling this unexpected wave of emotion. It wasn't sadness or joy exactly. It was gratitude. Pure, uncomplicated gratitude that I got to witness a moment like that. Bean Point felt like a gift, handed to me exactly when I needed it. I cherish this place so much. I will be back again and again.

The waves were minimal, and there were so many fish swimming around us the whole time! I counted three different schooling fish species and a few crabs, which were unusually easy to spot because of how crystal clear the water is. I do want to note that we couldn't fins any public trash cans, showers, and bathrooms. It ended up wasting our water bottle reserves and probably led to spending more money at businesses that had these amenities than we would've otherwise. Options for surrounding businesses are limited and pricey. For instance, the only pizza place within walking distance is great if you can afford $20+ average-sized pies. There's also only one beachside bar along this stretch of beach access that has a long wait time and doesn't list cocktail prices on their menu. Parking is slim, but a lot of it is free if you park on gravel roadsides. Since it has always been extremely windy when I've visited, I definitely suggest firmly anchoring any tents or umbrellas. Also bring materials to hold down blankets and towels. They don't allow alcohol on these beaches, so also keep that in mind when packing your coolers. All in all, this beach is a must-see!

As others have noted in their reviews, Ken and Jeff are constantly working to keep up this lovely family resort. It is clean and landscaped beautifully, and the rooms are just right! With a sitting area in our two bedroom, we enjoyed the recliner and couch as we watched movies in the evening. In our full kitchen, we stocked the refrigerator from the local Publix and made our breakfast and lunch, which we packed for the beach. Many guests chose to grill out as we saw when we would load up to go to a local restaurant for dinner, but we preferred eating out! On our first night at Hurricane Hanks restaurant down the road, we met up with a resident who offered us more ideas for restaurants for dinner. There's nothing like walking right out onto the beach to spend a morning watching the waves, seeing dolphins frolic, observing osprey catching their breakfast, and swimming in the water among schools of fish. Many of the guests knew each other from yearly vacations, and we have already made our reservation for next year! Anna Maria Island is quiet and family friendly. White Sands Resort offers shuffleboard and corn hole right next to the pool, but the best show is the sunset. On our first night, we were surprised to see how many lined the beach to see God's beauty, of course clapping at the end! Thank you to Ken, Jeff, Joy, and Esther for a wonderful stay.
