Who is Barbie? That is the question…read more..
Yes, I know, it's 2024, not 2023, the year Barbie the movie became a sensation and broke box office records. We learned that Barbie is both timeless and constantly evolving, a seeming contradiction but women can not be contained in a box. Barbie is the foundation of civilization and a wonder of the world.
Let's get real. Barbie the movie is revisionist. The original Barbie was once the bane of feminists. In the 1960s, Barbie was impossibly thin, white, and living in a pink plastic dreamhouse. Science, however, has proven that the first real Barbie was black and from Africa. The first real Barbie harnessed fire and invented the wheel. The Kens at Mattel dropped the ball on that one but, thanks to Barbie, Kens are evolving too. Progress is good.
We all have our favorite Barbie. Though I have a soft spot for Weird Barbie, my favorite Barbie is Dentist Barbie, at Massol Dental in Murray Hill. Some people call Dentist Barbie, "Dr. Sonia Massol." I call her, "perfection made manifest." Dentist Barbie is smart, kind, beautiful, and, sorry not sorry to all the Dentist Kens, is the best dentist in NYC.
Dentist Barbie has a beautiful office. It's modern but cozy. Gone is the Easy Bake Oven and replaced by cutting edge technology, like 3D scanners and a snow machine which will whiten your teeth brighter than a polar bear in a blizzard. Dr. Massol's office is anchored by Rosa Barbie, a wunderkind whose multifaceted talent assists Dentist Barbie and keeps the office running like clockwork.
As a testament to Dr. Massol's miraculous skills, just days ago, my friend had an unfortunate fall and shattered several teeth. It was awful, requiring a trip to the emergency room, stitches, CT scans, and X-rays. Less than 48 hours after the accident, my friend's teeth looked better than Ryan Gosling's on a Hollywood red carpet. The transformation was shocking. One thing's for sure, if the King had used Dr. Massol instead of all the King's horses and all the King's Kens, Humpty Dumpty would be put back together again.
Such is the power of Barbie. If you're a Barbie who seeks to maintain your sparkling smile, see Dr. Massol. If you're a Ken and your teeth are stained from drinking red wine while falling asleep at night, ask about Dr. Massol's magical snow machine. All the world's Kens and Barbies are blessed to have Dentist Barbie at Massol Dental on the corner of 37th St and 3rd Avenue in NYC... now let's talk about Karens.
