Great to find a place in AR that really knows how to make pasta. We saved our pasta eating until we…read morefound a place with tens of positive reviews and pics and are glad we did. Another reviewer made a comment that this is not French food. Well, you're in Argentina so it's going to be their spin on it. Some the salads could definitely be French. It certainly looks like a French bistro with the white tile on the walls etc. We sat outside and the thing started well getting a caipirinha and the cute little basket of bread with the beet dip. We ordered the stuffed zucchini blossom with a salad and the highly acclaimed watermelon and tomato salad. Have always wanted to taste stuffed zucchini blossoms and had no idea how bitter they were. It really needed something sweet to offset it and there was nothing on the plate that could help. The rest of the salad was good with the light vinaigrette and the slices of brie but that stuffed zucchini flower - it was way too bitter. If that's the way they all taste I will never order them again. The watermelon and tomato salad had a very nice vinaigrette with lots of fresh herbs some slices of onion and then some really creamy almost like burrata like cheese. It was fantastic. Then we waited, and waited, and waited probably 45 minutes before we got our entrées which were the garganelli pasta with ragout of lamb and the rectangular shaped ravioli filled with ricotta and mushrooms served with sautéed mushrooms on it. Both were excellent but the lamb ragout needed salt and they had taken the salt away from the table after our appetizers and we did not notice. The ricotta and mushroom stuffed pasta was seasoned with the perfect amount of salt and pepper, lots of butter and nicely sautéed mushrooms that had strong mushroom flavor. We might just return for lunch!

There are several things that made this place average overall…read more First thing was that, on arrival, they didn't have my reservation. I made it by web and finalized with an email from the restaurant. Fortunately, I had the email to show that I really did have a reservation. As we ate, I could see other people being refused seating or offered a place on the sidewalk (and it was 30C tonight). So, if you do dine here, despite what I'm saying, then you'd better reserve and preferably by phone. Next, they offered us a table almost directly on the flight path from the front door about four feet away. I rejected that and asked if they could split an unoccupied twin table set for four against a wall and away from traffic (we were two). They refused and indicated another table where one of the seats was directly next to the door. No thanks. Then they offered us some seats in the back section of the restaurant where some servers were busily chowing down before their shift. Maybe it would look nicer later, but not now. No thanks. Finally they split another table of four so at least we were about 20 feet from the front door but still on a flight path to the rear section. It was adequate. I requested a glass of wine and the pour was skimpy for Argentina. In the USA it would be considered generous/typical, but here it was definitely the skimpiest I have ever experienced. In the middle of eating, a cleaning person appeared with a mop, cleaning the front near the serving counter, and in front of us. I couldn't see any evident need to mop just right now. It takes the ambience down a bit - wait til later or start doing this earlier. The food was great, no question about that. However, it was pricier (check the attached menu) than it deserves to be when compared to other places the same or even better in Mendoza and elsewhere in Argentina. Coming from USA, it's almost embarrassing how low the prices are, but that's not my point. Relative to other places, you are getting less value for this admittedly good food. The place is called "bistro" which may give permission to crowd the tables together. However, seating is a bit too tight. Once again, I say this compared to other places of similar or better rating. Just yelp other places with similar rating to this one. It's undeservedly high in my opinion and that's why I think it deserves a three-star.

Josefina Resto is upscale and trendy in a way that makes it feel as if it belong back in Seattle…read more As a final dinner in Mendoza, a friend and I popped in for a nice, last meal of our vacation. The neighborhood of Josefina is trendy and scattered with bars and pubs that make for an easy way home via bar-hopping, so that's a plus. It was walkable from our Air B&B, which was at the heart of central Mendoza. We had 8:00pm reservations, but being in a strange-time zone and early-eaters by nature, we decided to pop in early to see if they would accomodate us. Much to our pleasure, Josefina was open by 7:30pm (which is quite early for Mendoza!) and happy to accomodate us early. The interior is modern and cool in the way that you are captivated by the interior before you can even study the menu. Interesting lighting fixtures punctuate the ceiling and wallpaper of various food and culture themes tastefully adorn the walls. Our server was polite, professional and prompt. I began with a glass of sparkling rose and B enjoyed the Sauvignon Blanc while we decided on entrees. The menu has descriptions in Spanish, English and Portuguese, which is always nice. I chose the mixed green salads with pomegranate, toasted almonds, tomato and asparagus dressed in a simple oil and vinegar. B chose the gnocchi with a mushroom cream sauce. They brough us out a variety of complimentary warm breads that far surpassed any offering of the sort we'd had before. There were several slices of each a whole wheat artisan bread, a focaccia with rosemary and tomatoes, quality dinner rolls and simple, fresh white bread. Our entrees followed immediately after (and quite quickly overall!). My salad was a generous portion and both dishes were visually pleasing. I devoured the fresh, crips salad and it was wonderfully light compared to the portions I had became accustomed to the prior week! The ripe pomegranate was a great contrast to the savory vegetables and the amount of dressing was just right. To say I was satisfied is an understatement. A note for veg-heads: The menu was limited for non-meat eaters, but there are a few dishes available and I am confident they would all be great! I would recommend this place to locals and visitors alike.

The menu has salads with warm shrimp or chicken, a dig a station of grilled provolone cheese, your usual meets with slight twists like a eggplant dip on top of your roasted potatoes with your steak. They bring a bread basket with two slices of tomato focaccia, two slices of a cherry wheat bread, one dense white roll and a slice if a soft white bread. It was served with a pickle aioli topped with shredded marinated carrots. Very light and fresh. We tried the empanadas (3 for $155) and they were made with chopped beef and lots of smoky paprika. It was almost too flavorful and great with the pickle aioli. The warm langoustine salad had only five langoustines (which were nicely seasoned and perfectly tender) but lots of arugula and frisée. The arugula was a bit overpowering versus the langoustines. It had 3 thin slices of grilled peach and 3 thin slices of avocado. It also had about 10 cherry tomatoes and two long homemade breadsticks. The salad was lightly dressed in a lemon vinaigrette. Very fresh, light salad. We also had the small ribeye with roasted potatoes topped with an eggplant spread and a small salad. All great flavors. We had asked for the ribeye to come without the cheese but they forgot. We took it off and ate it separately. Service was friendly and efficient. Certainly a modern version if an Argentinean steakhouse.

We stayed in central Mendoza and it was only a six minute walk from our hotel. The inside has a gorgeous ambiance with several tables for two or four. It's very nicely decorated! We chose to go with the four course meal when making our reservation and it's a good thing we did because it was SO much food!! The food itself was excellent and the rib eye might be the best I've ever had. Each course was lovely and they did a great job of explaining the ingredients to us. We also got the wine pairing with each course. We ended the night with coffee and petit fours. Would absolutely recommend this to anyone going to Mendoza! It's delicious and reasonably priced for the quality and experience!

We opted for the four-course tasting menu. (The seven course option is just too much for me.) My wife had the wine pairings; I had a glass of fabulous local Cabernet Sauvignon with the main course. I assume the menu changes with seasons so I won't bore you with descriptions except to say that each was lovely. There was an emphasis on local dishes deconstructed and put back together by a Michelin one-star chef. All in all, it was a lovely meal, in beautiful ambience, with amazing service. And a very happy anniversary. One tip: the restaurant's website indicated they were fully booked. I sent a WhatsApp message and it turned out they indeed had a table available.
