For two very full days you can get the authentic experience of what it is like to be a Michigan…read moreWolverine football player! My expectations were high, and the MMFE over delivered. The ENTIRE coaching staff and assistants invested their precious time attempting to prepare us wanna-be college athletes for a game. We had direct interactions with the guys we see on TV; it was surreal. The event started with picking up your gear (jersey with name and number), autographed football, and other Michigan football swag. And then we had the first team lunch, which included Brady Hoke, Greg Mattison, Al Borges, the position coaches, and numerous great assistants. At the various meals I had the privilege of sitting next to Al Borges, Greg Mattison, Fred Jackson, Mike Hart, and accomplished alumni. Hanging around throughout the event were notable people such as Dave Brandon, Lloyd Carr, Gary Moeller, the legendary Jon Falk, Jim Brandstatter, and some former players. And that was just the kick off! After lunch we headed to Schembechler Hall to hear from the coaches, go over the play book, and tour the facilities. Just like the players, we were moved around town in buses, and had the actual pre-game meals. Dinner was overlooking the field in Michigan Stadium in the concourse where Brady Hoke gave his first talk to the team, the team, the team. The day wrapped up with bed checks, and hot chocolate with cookies. Day two started with a 6 AM wake up knock on the door. After another meal with the who's who in Michigan football we headed to the practice fields for position training, and our first scrimmage. After lunch we reviewed the films of our practice efforts; Coach Hoke said some of us won't be getting a scholarship. And then it was time for the big event. Jon Falk greeted us as we entered the locker room at Michigan Stadium where we found personalized lockers with our jersey hanging. There were some teary eyes in that room, followed by nervous energy. We huddled at the tunnel with our fans cheering us, then took the field jumping up to touch a Michigan banner followed by the coaches. Just like on a real football Saturday. After warm ups we scrimmaged for about hour. My wife took a lot of photos and videos, including my interception! As if things weren't awesome enough, after the scrimmage we were introduced individually over the public address system with our pictures on the giant scoreboards. The event wrapped up with a team photo, and a final thank you to the coaches and the event coordinators. After spending four years with this incredible coaching staff a student-athlete's life will be enhanced in ways too valuable to measure. The coaches know football, are intense, and very entertaining. Everyone involved with this event was amazing, and true blue. The cost of the MMFE is not inexpensive, but it is priceless!

But to my shock and horror the whole season was nothing but punishment after punishment for only a select few. There were certain favorites on the team that were allowed to make error after error yet still played in the game, while my son made 1 error and was humiliated by getting pulled out and made to sit for sometimes most of the game. At 13u this type of treatment is horrible. Coach Dishman would talk to these 13 yr olds inappropriately. Often times he would swear and use foul language to them. This man is a Jekyl and Hyde personality. He is a hateful person and I wish to never see or speak to him again. These are my true and honest opinions. This man is tarnishing the Motor city hit dogs name. The west side establishment is a money grab. Dishman cancelled our season without refunding the remaining tournaments. To be clear, the original motor city hit dogs organization out of Rochester is a decent place. If you are going to play for that organization make the drive and go there instead

Through the 2020 college football season, Michigan is still on top all-time for the most…read moreNCAA-recognized wins at 964. Needless to say, the Wolverines are one of the sport's all-time great programs. Along with 964 wins, Michigan has captured nine national championships recognized by the NCAA: 1901, 1902, 1903, 1904, 1918, 1923, 1933, 1948, and 1997. Two of those titles came during the poll era beginning in 1936. Michigan also claims national championships in 1932 and 1947. In recent years, Ohio State (931 wins) and Alabama (929 wins) have narrowed the gap. Good thing current Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has done a nice job keeping the program on the winning track. Since being hired as Michigan's coach in 2014 (first season in 2015), through the 2020 season, Harbaugh's record at the school has been 49-22 overall (.690) and 34-16 in the Big Ten (.680). In six complete seasons at the helm, Harbaugh's Michigan teams have completed their seasons ranked in the final top 25 polls four times (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019). Harbaugh guided the Wolverines to five straight major bowl appearances from 2015 to 2019. Two of those appearances were College Football Playoff New Year's Six bowls: the 2016 Orange Bowl (a 33-32 loss to No. 10 Florida State) and the 2018 Peach Bowl (a 41-15 loss to No. 10 Florida). Harbaugh's bowl record at Michigan is 1-4. While he has yet to win a Big Ten conference championship, Harbaugh has definitely been an upgrade over the team's previous two head coaches, Brady Hoke (2011-2014) and Rich Rodriguez (2008-2010). The last great Michigan coach was Lloyd Carr who coached the team from 1995 to 2007. Carr had tremendous success in Ann Arbor. In 13 seasons, his Michigan teams never missed the postseason. He won five conference championships. His best season was the 1997 national championship season. The Wolverines went undefeated that year, going 12-0 overall and 8-0 in the Big Ten. They won the 1998 Rose Bowl, 21-16, with Brian Griese at quarterback. It capped off a magical season for Michigan and they ended with a final ranking of No. 1 in the AP poll. The 1997 Michigan team had an outstanding defense led by First-Team All-Americans Charles Woodson (cornerback) and Glen Steele (defensive end). To this day, Woodson is the only primarily-defensive player to win the Heisman Trophy. Michigan Stadium, located southwest of Central Campus, is the biggest stadium in the Western Hemisphere. Since 2015, "The Big House" has had an official seating capacity of 107,601. This was down from its 2010-2015 official capacity of 109,901. In 2013, the Michigan-Notre Dame game set an NCAA record for attendance with 115,109 fans (record-high for a college football game held in an American stadium). Two other schools in the Big Ten, Penn State and Ohio State, also have football stadiums that hold over 100,000 each.

Everything about this team is winning. Charlie Sheen was wrong, if he was so "winning" then he wouldn't have tiger blood, he would have WOLVERINE BLOOD. The most distinctive fight song (Hail To The Victors!) and helmets (wing-tipped, so classy). Best sports rivalry (sorry State, you're not really our rival) AND they play in the biggest college stadium. I'm originally from NYC and I have converted a number of my high school friends that went to state universities to Wolverine fans. They all agree with me, there is no other college football team to root for. Michigan gives you the legacy and the ACADEMICS (can't say that for any SEC school, suckers). Simply, to sum it up... IT'S GREAT TO BE... A MICHIGAN WOLVERINE!!!
