First trip($375) looks horrible. Tubes inserted.
Chelsea V.

I'm giving 2 stars only because our pup is now healed, mostly, and back to enjoying his life. They over charge($375 first trip and $160 second trip- for same pup to be seen for the same issue), multiple vets means difference of opinions on how procedures should have been done. Our pup had to have tubes redone because the second vet on duty "didn't like the way the first vet did them", charging us again! After signing a payment plan, that stated our remaining balance, we were randomly charged an additional $30 for services they could not list for us- I refused to pay the extra amount seeing as the only document we signed had our original balance on it! Our baby's staples kept coming out, so we kept having to take him back(also being charged to fix those). After all staples were removed we noticed there is a blue stitch still left inside his healed wound!! We are now taking him to 2nd Ave for after care. It was 3+ weeks of trips there, our pup being messed with and wrapped up, crated and all around miserable. We were new to the area and desperate otherwise we would have done more research and driven further to take him to a different emergency vet!

I had to make the absolutely gut wrenching decision to put my sweet almost 17 year old yorkie down a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately Dr. Tatum was not in that day but Dr. Lewis handled it. I just didn't feel any warmth or compassion from the office staff members at all. Nobody said 'sorry for your loss' or 'she was a good dog' or even looked up from their computers when the euthanasia was complete and I was leaving. I realize that people have to become desensitized to the death of pets when working in the field, however, my dog had been a patient for over 10 years at their office. That was one of the absolute hardest days of my life and nobody was even bothered enough to see a sobbing person and say 'sorry for your loss.' I will miss Dr. Tatum himself but when the time comes to find a new vet, I will be using a different practice. Bottom line: if you're looking for compassionate end of life care, please research this thoroughly as this was unfortunately not my experience with the current staff.

She's great with all of my dogs and their multiple different personalities! Loving, patient, kind, sweet with them. She answers all of my questions, reassures me if I have any concerns. I love the vet techs, front desk staff, etc. * Wanted to add- a response to a previous review about someone's dog being overweight and not liking how it was handled... 3 of my dogs are overweight and Dr. Spence has only been helpful and given me tips on how to get their weight down to their ideal weight range and IT HAS WORKED. Haven't experienced anything like what some of these reviewers have...

Paws Humane

Negative -10 review these fuckers owe me stars…read more I've tried calling Paw Humane Society numerous times, and it is almost impossible to get anyone to pick up the phone or respond. No matter which line you try, there's never an answer. I even reached out about a stray dog that needed help, and nobody came out. It's extremely frustrating, especially considering the fact that they just had a big revamp and promote themselves heavily with events like "Bark for Blues" festivals to get dogs adopted. They clearly put effort into marketing, but when it comes to the basic responsibility of answering calls and helping the community, they are failing. This organization needs to get its priorities straight.

They always seem overworked and like they need more staff in the 10 or more years I've been going there, and they almost never answer their phones so it's very hard to ask questions or make an appointment. I wonder how many more people they could reach if they just answered their phones (clinic side especially, rescue side is a smidge better)?! Heck I'll do it, I'd even take minimum wage to do it. FYI they only take animals in from the Animal Control next door, so owner surrenders or found animals have to go through Animal Control. I found this kitten in Jason's Deli parking lot emaciated and missing an eye but mewing and coming up to us for help. We named him Ragetti and called the rescue to tell them how absolutely sweet he was, and they told us to surrender him to Animal Control then call them so they can pick him up. Animal Control said they would normally euthanize injured feral cats, but I insisted he was sweet to everyone and deserved a chance and stayed until PAWS picked him up! After they fixed his eye we visited him at the shelter as he gained weight so he would stay socialized and sweet, and he was adopted within a couple of weeks !
