The location is perfect, just before you get to the two lane road to Key Largo in Florida City. Carla greeted us upon arrival with a smile and welcomed us home. We love the apartment style atmosphere of the Home2Suites and this location was no different. They had a gym and pool that were well appointed although we did not partake. The hotel is pet friendly if Fido is coming along. There is a kitchenette in each room and privacy for 4 with a curtain separating the pull out couch and the comfy King Size bed. We will definitely be back and highly recommend it!

We also like how spacious the rooms are at Home2 Suites and that they include a kitchen. Free use of the laundry room and free breakfast were also convenient. The room was comfortable and spacious, but looked a little worn down. Everything was functional and fine for a two night stay. The reason I give this hotel a lower rating is because there was an unresolved issue with the room. On the day we arrived we were downgraded from the room type that we booked two months in advance without any notice or explanation. The staff at the front desk kindly apologized, but couldn't explain why it happened and said they weren't empowered to do anything about it. We were told that the manager was the only one who could do anything and she would contact us. She never did, not during our stay or after our stay. It felt unfair to not get what we reserved and then be charged the same price for the downgraded room type. Hilton customer service helped to compensate for the inconvenience when I called them a week after our stay after never hearing from the hotel manager. I've never had an issue at a Hilton hotel before that wasn't resolved right away or at least during my stay, so I know this isn't typical for a Hilton property. We will stay at a different hotel the next time we are in the area.

I really don't want this review to sound like I'm knocking the place -- it has many nice things…read moregoing for it. The location is great for being a jumping off point to the Keys. The price was right for a mid-February vacation, one night only here. When we first arrived, we walked all around the building to find the entrance. We couldn't find it, turned around and came back and a nice young man came out of the restaurant door and asked us if we were looking for the hotel. I bet that happens a lot as there is no sign on the door next to the restaurant stating it's the hotel. Once inside, a friendly woman guided us to our first floor room at the back of the building and asked us if it was to our satisfaction. It looked clean so we said yes. The room had standard hotel amenities, including a hair dryer, but also a dehumidifier. The room smelled a little musty, so that's why the dehumidifier is in there. I didn't notice the smell, and my boyfriend only noticed it after we'd been in the room for a while. He said if he'd noticed it right off the bat, we probably would have left. The young man and lady in charge were super nice and did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. When we asked about parking, if we could go out to dinner elsewhere and come back and find a spot in the lot, they were a bit iffy. They said the lot can fill up at night so we might not get a spot, but we could park across the street, wait until people left and then move our car back into the lot. But then one of them said if all that fails, we could use a spot nearest the building that really isn't a spot at all, but we could wedge our car into that. Luckily when we came back from dinner, there were at least 3 or 4 spots open. I had used the bathroom before we left for dinner and when we came back we noticed that the toilet was running. There wasn't a Kleenex box in the bathroom. Not a huge deal, just use toilet paper instead. When it came time for sleeping, I had a feeling the blinds on the window weren't going to keep the sun out and I was right. Bring a sleeping mask if you like darkness. Also bring earplugs FOR SURE! The first floor room shares a wall with the kitchen and at the end of the evening when the kitchen workers are cleaning up, you can hear pots and pans banging around, the workers shouting to one another, loud talking, loud laughing, etc. All that noise stops around 11, 11:30 p.m. The air conditioner was loud so we turned it off. There was street noise as well. We chose this place based on location and price; it seemed like a good deal and an interesting stay in a quirky hotel, which sometimes can offset lower quality accommodations if you find the place fun or interesting. So while I recommend this place as not too bad (we've definitely stayed in much worse places) I would advise not staying for more than one night.

There's no front desk for check in. There's a lock box at the back entrance (your room # and…read morelockbox code is provided via email). We found our room key in the lockbox and headed up the stairs where the rooms were. Upon entering, it smelled of cigarettes. The room is more spacious than I expected. There's a mini fridge, microwave, 2 TVs, coffee pot, ironing board, hangers and a couch. There's also an outdoor seating area, albeit shared with all of your neighbors. It's cleaner than I expected, but we still found a hair in the bed. The bathroom provides a hair dryer, shampoo and soap. However, the towels are very thin and tiny. My bath towel was sopping wet before I could fully dry my hair. There's a door between us and another room that we can hear their conversations very clearly. Also, the restaurant downstairs has live music until 11pm. The wifi doesn't work. Staying one night is OK, but I couldn't do it for longer than that.

Breakfast is better than most with solid oatmeal and coffee to get me going! They also have eggs and sausage and stuff but not for me... I stay true to my breakfast diet! I worked…read morefrom home that day and I swear as the day wore on it became more and more unbearable in my home. By the time an ac repairman came to my home two hours before the event, I was sweating a lot. Laugh all you like but in South Florida, AC isn't a luxury it's a dire necessity! So the AC repairman said that all the pipes in my AC were frozen and he showed them to me. He needed to fix it, put new freon and a bunch of other stuff. Regardless, the ac wouldn't work well again for another day. I said forget this I'm going to a hotel. TownePlace Suites by Marriott is located two blocks from my house and I called them up and booked a room. One of the great things about this hotel is that it allows pets... sure it comes with a $100 fee but I wasn't going to leave my poor cat alone at home so I took her with me. I decided to make this a little staycation so I stayed for two days that way I could enjoy the hotel. The hotel is well decorated... all parts of it from the lobby to the breakfast/meal area to the rooms. The beds were super soft, the rooms were spotless. This is an extended stay hotel so the room had a full kitchen, with a small stove, full fridge, coffee machine, toaster, and microwave. It also came with plates, glasses, utensils, etc. The room also had the largest hotel closets I have ever seen. The only thing I didn't like about the room was the bathroom was a bit smaller than most I have seen at other hotels. The hotel has an outdoor area with seating and two bbq grills for use by guests... never seen that in any hotel before. It also has a decent pool, which I certainly made use of when I stayed there. The hotel serves breakfast... nothing fancy but certainly pretty good. They offer cereal, waffels, bagels, toast, etc. They also served some eggs and breakfast sausage which was also pretty good. The hotel also has available items for purchase like most hotels do like soda, ice cream, snacks, and items for personal grooming. They also sold beer and wine which is good if your trying to unwind. What was interesting is that they also sold sauces and items from a local vegetable/fruit stand called "Robert is here", which is one of my favorite local places. If your visiting the area... drop by there it's amazing. I was certainly surprised they had items for sale from there. The best thing about this hotel was the service. The front desk staff is very friendly... and the house keeping staff were probably the best I have ever encountered at any hotel. Grisel, I think she was a supervisor for them asked if the room needed to be cleaned on the second day I was there. She explained she didn't disturb me because I posted a do not disturb sign outside my room. I explained I needed to work the first full day I was there and I had a lot of teleconferences to handle and I couldn't reschedule or have noise during those meetings. She gave me the number for house keeping and told me whenever I was free they would come to clean it and if I ever needed anything to give them a call. Wow! That's service! Wonderful stay and it's certainly an option I will keep in mind if I ever need a place to crash if for some reason my home is without ac or power again (you never know with hurricanes). Moreover if any friends or family want to stay near me I will definitely recommend them to stay here. As I left I almost didn't want to leave... sadly neither did my cat. She loved our little hotel adventure and she was sad and cried as I took her out of the hotel. Great hotel!
