You know that check-in offer Lorraine mentions from 5 years ago? Still valid. I forgot to use it last time but it was still there this time. Dude wasn't even sure how to ring it in. But honestly, the meats and everything are delicious. The variety that is offered it great and they even have a little liquor store next door if that's something you also have to grab. First time coming here after I decided to stop buying meat at the regular grocery store and I am so very happy I came ! Whenever I go to Costco I always pass by it and get curious about it. Well I had a special dinner to prepare and wanted to make sure I went somewhere that would have the cut of meat I needed. It was very easy to access and parking was no issue as they have a parking lot. I walked in and was greeted and 2 gentleman helped me as I was going to order 4 pounds of brisket and then after telling them what I wanted to do they recommended a chuck roast and that was exactly correct! I definitely mixed up the meat I needed to get but they helped. The prices were fantastic and they had such an assortment of meats to get their selection looked great! I definitely will be coming here again as I love supporting local and quality was fantastic! I'll leave you guys with a video of the chuck roast as it came out so tender and almost falling apart! I typically go to butchers instead of a grocer for meat purchases. The two that I normally go to that are local to me are terrific, but have become a problem getting to due to the "neighborhood" I live in, in Minneapolis. I was told by a Luther Auctions that this was an excellent place to buy meat so I gave them a try. I was very happy with the prices, selection and service that I received. They also have pig ears, tendons and bones for the pups. I'm not a fan of chicken but I bought a couple of packets of their children thighs and they were very good. I'll be going back. read more

I was on my way back from WBL and passed by. I needed some deli meat. I asked what one was behind the olive loaf. Dutch loaf. I gasped and explained how I was hunting this stuff down for days. An old East coast favorite of mine. I got some swiss to go with it. I looked in the freezer and found hen and capon, just stuff you don't see around. Bacon. That alone is worth 5 stars. This old school meat market also has attached liquor store which equates convenience. The staff is friendly and helpful. Steak. Brats. Ground beef. Bacon. Pork. Chicken. Frozen meal and freezer packs and tons of freshly ground beef and fresh cut meats. Kabobs ready to grill. Seafood. Jerky and sausages. Potato salad. Pizza. Well. Honest review very nice people friendly and. Helpful. I got a variety of different items. Dry aged rib eye was pretty good, beef jerkey was Excellent. Wagyu burger was okay. Extremely disappointed in the frozen "minnesota wagyu sirloin cap" thawed it and upon opening smelt rotten and a bit sour. Mouthwatering selection of meats! Every time I walk in I have a hard time focusing on what I came to purchase. I usually go for the steaks, the 8 ounce bacon wrapped filet mignon is my jam! Vegetarians are jealous of me, I know it. For my asian peeps, they also have beef bones for pho. It's labeled under dog treats, but whatever, I use it. Just pretend like you got 5 dogs at home. You can also have them slice up some thin short ribs for Korean Kalbi. The store is nice and clean, the staff is really friendly and helpful, and there's plenty of parking. Oh, and the first time I visited this shop I said if only you sold wine, I'd be set. The guy behind the counter said they were in the process of converting the space next to them into a liquor store. Best little meat shop in Maplewood Minnesota. I love it and guess what---they have a yelp check-in offer for a free pound of ground beef. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and have awesome meat at great prices. They are one of the few places I have actually found fresh beef liver. I have cooked, beef, chicken, and pork from here and it has all been of spectacular quality. read more

Growing up as a kid I always thought the butcher was the meat counter at the grocery store. I never knew that there was something outside of that. When I heard butcher I usually was probably thinking of delis or something else of that nature, but never something like this place. My husband and I were in charge of Christmas eve dinner. We decided to go with a lamb ragu. The thing is lamb has been pretty hard to find in Minnesota, which was never a problem in California. I hunkered downed and pulled up all the butchers in the area ready to make a bunch of phone calls. I called Angus Meats and he had exactly what I wanted. Better yet, he was willing to cut it up for me! I was stoked I found the lamb on the first call. I drove over to the nondescript shop thinking it wouldn't be too crazy. I pull into the parking lot and it is packed! Already I knew this was a good sign. Inside there was a ring of people. You take a number and wait for them to call you. The staff here were on fire! There was probably 4-6 of them at a time and the line flew. They were friendly but efficient. They kept a smile on your face without stopping to talk to you about the weather for 5 minutes. Excellent work. Their selection was also amazing. It was the kind of place that reminds you why you want to get a chest freezer. They had about any cut of meat you could want from just about any animal you would want to eat. They also had some bomb pickles. The lamb was delicious! It was right up there with some of the lamb I had in New Zealand (where sheep outnumber people 7:1). I'm not a big lover of lamb, but I would eat that dish again in a heartbeat. I loved this place so much that I convinced my husband we need a chest freezer so we can stock up. I'll also briefly comment on the liquor store because I stopped by there. They have decent prices and a decent selection. Not the widest variety, but given the size they do a decent job. What I did like was that I saw a lot of Minnesota options. So I went to this" Meat market" today and I have to tell you I felt UNWELCOMED! when I entered the store I got the hot eye stares like I was in the " wrong store" I really did not want my purchase after I was driving home. I spoke to everyone and kinda got a dry barley HELLO. I am a Grandma that happens to be African American, I was with my 4 year old Grandson. I ordered 2 boxes of the Freezer packs and spend $120 dollars. It was two medium size boxes the worker slammed them on the counter and I had a 4 year old with me and there was at least 4 men in that store and NOT ONE OFFERED TO TAKE THE BOXES TO MY CAR?? NOW I'm wondering if I was another kind of person would I had the " Red Carpet" treatment?? I will NEVER NEVER GO BACK TO THAT STORE AGAIN. IT IS NOT FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME AND MY GRANDSON. ANYONE OF ANY COLOR GO TEST THE EXPERIENCE OUT AND YOU WILL LEAVE BAFFLED. But they took my money with no problem! Piss poor Customer Service, people of color are not welcomed here. Don't spend your money, time and your diginity going to this store. They are in the dark ages and I want everyone to know about my experience! We all bleed blood. I love going to the butcher shop, especially a quality one. They had a good variety of meats on display and some frozen meats in the freezer that were packaged properly. I bought a bacon wrapped fillet mignon and it was one of the most gorgeous pieces of meat I have seen and tasted great as well. Can't wait to go back for other items. read more

This Christmas we had the Prime Rib instead of the ham it was by far the best we have ever had. This place rocks! They have a great selection of meats and good prices! My personal favorites are the the bacon-wrapped filet mignons and their smoked bacon (I buy these every Friday). The free-range chickens are also super yummy! If you have a dog, my pooch recommends you grab a bag of dog bones! They come in plain or smoked. My dog LOVES them and they keep his teeth shiny white : ) All in all, if you are looking for quality meats at good prices, I highly recommend Angus! read more

They offer a Groupon. You can only buy one EVER - when did this start? I've purchased many multiple Groupons from plenty of retailers and restaurants, including Angus, and I have NEVER run into this. I always purchase extra products or food when using my Groupons (including generously tipping my restaurant server) to help a merchant or restaurant cover the cost of the Groupon, but I will NEVER return to Angus again with or without a Groupon. read more

Angus meats is AWESOME! The steak with bacon is the best steak, the chicken is free range, and once you buy their hamburger you will never buy that junk in the grocery stores again! They carry fresh turkeys at the holidays and if you ask for the smoked pork chops (not in the case but they have in the back) they will cut them how thick you want them. The employees are so friendly and helpful. And they carry turducken at Thanksgiving, which some day I will try. read more
